Quilt Show alert! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH, GOSH  - There are quilt shows this weekend, and I haven't had time to think about them. But there's the Region of York show today and tomorrow!!!! Here's the link to their website. I don't know if I can sneak that in because of my classes, but maybe tomorrow?

There's also a quilt show in Cornwall. The first day was yesterday, and it ends TODAY

I have three Zoom classes today and am happy to say that all three presentations are ready! Just made that deadline in the nick of time! The homework for one ...

Spring has arrived from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I love Elle's comment about the "screamer" in the spin class. A toddler -- yep -- that's what he reminded me of!

I try to ignore the noises, but sometimes it's tough. But do you love to watch or observe people? I LOVE it! Especially if they are regulars, like those in my spin class. At any class, there might be 25 - 30 people. And I know most of them by sight and a few by name since our names appear on the screen at the start of the class. But amazing how much you can learn about each ...

It's a beautiful day! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OK -- so I've already done several things this morning that I haven't done in a long time. First, I had a relatively late night and NO nap during the day, so I slept in. That was until I heard naughty Lexi, who spent the night outside, barking! That dog never barks! It must have been something very important.

After scolding her, I left her outside. Only to hear her barking again but in a different corner of the yard. I captured her and brought her in. She is NOT happy. Murphy went ballistic in the house, so if ...

Around the neighborhood from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The serger event in Hamilton is NOT hybrid, so if anyone wants to hear it -- you have to attend in person! But I believe it's in the evening. And I spent the day sorting, organizing, and putting everything in order. I still need to pack and unpack suitcases, but since I need them tonight, I have no choice but to do it today.

There seems to be so much I want to do, have to do, and I hear the call of the outdoors and well -- you know what happens.

However, I'm happy to report that I finished ...

Getting organized! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was another late night, but only because I was outside for most of the afternoon. It was too nice to be inside, and I'd rather take advantage of the fantastic weather!

We had a great time at Monday sewing, and it's been a while since I haven't had to zip out prematurely because of a work commitment. I got to stay until the end!

Lots of stuff happened in Studio B, and I knew, with all my tidying, a couple of scenarios would arise - not being able to find something and refining already sorted areas.

For ...

A "peaceful" day in the gazebo from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Don't yell at me when I say there is so much to do and so little time. Because part of that statement is very accurate, but if I were really in a time crunch, I wouldn't have taken most of the day off! There are so many little things to finish, and I seem to be taking my sweet time to get to them. Personally, I'm OK with that, and there are only a few appointments this week, but I do have a guild presentation with the Grand Quilt Guild (Fergus) on Wednesday evening (the topic is ...

It's all about the books from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OK -- so yesterday was so much fun, I might be tempted to retire and only do my own thing! I loaded the backing for a very large quilt on the long arm, and I'll load the top this afternoon and quilt it.

Then I decided to tackle a bit of tidy-up. Now here's the thing -- the place looked a mess, with stuff strewn everywhere. But because everything has a home and I don't store things on my worktables, it really didn't take long before it looked like a workable space again! All that hard work in ...

My world has gone to the dogs! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's Monday! One last week of this insane month! Well, it's one more week this month, and then the first week of next month will be crazy as well, and THEN I'm home for a while. It's all fun and games! One of the can't move deadlines is done! Thank goodness for that, as it allowed me to focus on other things yesterday - like the four presentations that need to be assembled (good progress happened), and I had to pack my sample suitcase, which is also done.

Despite all that, yesterday was about the dogs ...

One day at a time from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh boy   -- as much as I try to be accurate, I goofed on those dates of the Virtual Retreat. It's all fixed -- thanks, Mary. And Elle --- just say NO!! I refuse to believe I will get blisters - I'm in denial. However, truth be told, a lot of walking will happen with the heat, and I'm sure I'll get blisters. But they WILL be manageable. As much as I'm embarrassed to say this -- those shoes were too small for my feet.

Another silly day but I accomplished loads. The four presentations for next week are in ...

Stop and smell the roses from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

And today is another day! I need to get through the next 2 ½ weeks (STOP laughing), and then while I still have things to do, I can at least take a day off! This schedule is silly, and I'm getting tired of it! It's all exciting stuff, but I would like ONE day off with nothing to do. But that will be here soon enough!

I made progress on my projects yesterday, so I got to sit in on Monday Sewing, but I still made progress on my goals. Then we had a software class in the ...

Murphy's Antics from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I should post homework pictures on the blog, but there always seems to be something else that supersedes that. Well, I'll see what I can do. I had a regular Zoom call and a short one, and everything was prepped and ready to go.

I have three Zoom calls today, and for the most part, everything is ready to go. I have a little more sewing that I could do, and if I get time, I'll finish it. If I don't, then no worries! It'll all get done! Sometimes I laugh when I say that. How ...

OFF with her head! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm home! Gosh -- I can't wait until I say that for the last time - wait -- I can only say the last time this month because there are a few future trips in the works. Right now, my last trip of the year is scheduled for October.

The trip home was uneventful; however, I have a bone to pick with airlines in general and perhaps Air  Canada directly. Why do they NOT ENFORCE the size and quantity of carry-on baggage? I get it that no one wants to wait for their bag when they arrive at their destination. Then ...

It's all about Murphy! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I want to live where Elle lives! And if we looked at our city by-laws, I'm sure there would be one which states that snow removal of your drive should be on your property -- not in the street. The next time it snows (today), my two neighbors need a lesson on good old-fashioned shoveling with a SHOVEL, not a massive push scoop. Sigh................

I'm praying for light and fluffy! Not wet and heavy! I'm tired of wet and heavy snow. Heck -- I'm tired of snow!

The last of the virtual presentations for SVP is done for ...

It's WET out there! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Could there be a glimmer of hope about the phone? I spoke to someone yesterday who has similar issues, and they have "solved" it by finding a spot in their house where their voice doesn't cut out (I wasn't sure if it was just their voice or the call -- need to check that out) and then they use earbuds to roam the house while they talk. Hmm --- that could work, but where is that sweet spot? I was standing at the backdoor with my phone outside yesterday and still had issues!

I was up late last night trying ...

Puzzling from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's New Year's Eve. Another year has passed, and what do I have to show for it? There are lots, but I tend NOT to keep track of what I accomplish in a year. Well, that's not entirely true -- I know how many KMs I've walked/ridden my bike or spin class, I know how many novels I've read, and I know how many quilts I donated (more or less) and well, I'm so highly motivated that I don't really need to know how much else I got done. It was a lot ...

The Big Red Dog from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I know there are urgent needs to be on the roads right now. Some people have essential jobs, but seriously? If you don't need to be on the highways when the OPP asks people to stay home, stay home! A massive 100-car pileup means that people have to be outside in those ridiculous temperatures, people are stuck on the closed highways, and you won't get anywhere. I just shake my head and ask what is wrong with people. Is their entitlement so broad they think it's OK to be out there and add to the issue? And ...

A feeding frenzy from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm not out of the woods yet, but feeling better. Let's hope this doesn't develop into something serious -- I don't have time for serious! Lots to drink, lots of sleep -- that's my healing process!

It's probably too early to think about cleaning up, as most of you will be thinking about Christmas, but if you're starting to think about how to downsize your stash, here's an excellent and FAST way to make that happen. Comfy Cases, an organization that distributes colorful pillowcases to sick children, donated over 4,500 pillowcases across Ontario ...

Sorting threads from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Those birds were waiting for snow before they hit the birdfeeders! It was like a switch got turned on, and before I knew it, a pair of cardinals, a woodpecker, and many other smaller birds were feasting away, and I loved watching them.

Of course, the girls were excited by the snow and couldn't wait to get outside. Our area hasn't had much snow, and it was like a winter wonderland walking in the morning. Then it stopped snowing, but we haven't seen the sun in a long time! Where is the ...

Quilts and magazines from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Here's a question to contemplate today. Are shopping trends set by the consumers or by the retailers? I read an article yesterday about it. The retailers said that consumers are planning better (really?) for the holidays and want to get their shopping out of the way earlier. Therefore, they put Christmas decorations out earlier and earlier. Black Friday sales are no longer for Black Friday - it's Black Friday every day for a month!

It's a combination of both, but I say the retailers are behind the trends. And before the retailers get their hands on the products ...

Shopping for fabric! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

We have heat again! We had heat in the house, but it wouldn't go above a certain temperature. The technician was shortly after eight and made several adjustments, and YES - I needed to clean the filter. It amazes me that since we now lease the furnace, the company is NOT pushing down our throats to have it serviced. When we owned the furnace, they were on us like a dirty shirt to have it serviced twice a year. I'll be making some notes in my calendar to get that done.

Furnace repair in action

And it's probably ...
