Three days and two nights of quilting! I always bring more with me than I can possibly do while I am at a retreat but I like to have options in case I feel like changing projects. However, by the time I left today, I only had one project that I did not touch. Much was accomplished! I started out slowly with a warm up projects. I am making nine patch blocks for my Rainbow Scrap Challenge project this year. March's colour is yellow. They are a bit brighter than they appear in this picture. The lighting in the ...

I love Elle's comment about the "screamer" in the spin class. A toddler -- yep -- that's what he reminded me of!
I try to ignore the noises, but sometimes it's tough. But do you love to watch or observe people? I LOVE it! Especially if they are regulars, like those in my spin class. At any class, there might be 25 - 30 people. And I know most of them by sight and a few by name since our names appear on the screen at the start of the class. But amazing how much you can learn about each ...
read moreThe serger event in Hamilton is NOT hybrid, so if anyone wants to hear it -- you have to attend in person! But I believe it's in the evening. And I spent the day sorting, organizing, and putting everything in order. I still need to pack and unpack suitcases, but since I need them tonight, I have no choice but to do it today.
There seems to be so much I want to do, have to do, and I hear the call of the outdoors and well -- you know what happens.
However, I'm happy to report that I finished ...
read moreIt was another late night, but only because I was outside for most of the afternoon. It was too nice to be inside, and I'd rather take advantage of the fantastic weather!
We had a great time at Monday sewing, and it's been a while since I haven't had to zip out prematurely because of a work commitment. I got to stay until the end!
Lots of stuff happened in Studio B, and I knew, with all my tidying, a couple of scenarios would arise - not being able to find something and refining already sorted areas.
For ...
read moreOh my gosh --- what a wild night we had. I'm unsure if I'm sick, but I didn't feel well when I went to bed. I was up several times but seem to be fine now, so let's hope all is well! I have no time to be sick!
I am definitely sewing in slow-motion mode -- since I've arrived, I've finished serving one T-shirt and made two small backpacks! Let's say that the backpack was a challenge! It was not a commercial pattern which is OK, but the person who wrote it could have ...
read moreI'm here at the retreat! We're back at Retreat at the Farm in Shelbourne. I arrived at 7 PM, and it's good to be back even if I have to work most of the week. Hey -- I have presentations to prep and samples to sew, but I can have more fun doing that while visiting with friends than being at home.
I brought most things I need, and whatever I'm missing, then we'll make it up! There is one thing that I have a big issue with my phone charger. I have two, but again ...
read moreIt was not a good night -- Oh, I went to sleep early enough, fell asleep, and then BEEP BEEP BEEP woke me up. The lights are flashing outside, which means only one thing - the PLOW is passing.
Actually, the plow had passed earlier and did a great job. They gave all the drives in the corner a huge berth, and that made me happy as I'm sure my low-clearance car could pass in the existing ruts.

So the beeping was the crews returning to deal with the corner mess. When I ...
read moreWhat's with all the rain? It's raining cats and dogs out there, and I'm not sure I want to go out. I don't think the girls will be too excited either. We'll see how the walk progresses this morning.
So my French serger event got pushed back one week, and well, I was bad -- really naughty as a matter of fact. Instead of forging ahead and finishing the presentation to be ready for next week, I played hookey! It was a beautiful day (well, mostly), so I decided it was time to tackle the FINAL ...
read moreI love Liz's comment from yesterday's post about changing up the route you walk! I have to confess that I mostly keep Murphy to the same walk. And that is done intentionally. If we change up the course, she gets even more excited than she already is, and well - I suspect that some of my knee and low back issues are a result of walking that very excitable dog! I have to keep TWO hands on the leash - not always, but at times, especially when passing a squirrel convention, which happens daily!
Lexi, on the other hand, gets ...
read moreHere's the update on the UPS saga.
Yeah!!!!! I'll still be on alert until the thing actually arrives, but I have seen that it's left the initial depot! Now here's the thing -- can you tell me why this issue was resolved quickly, and last time, it took weeks? There was no reason for that massive delay the last time. Why drives me crazy is when I can't get an explanation for what happened. I can easily understand if they said a truck blew up or there was a fire or whatever. But to have no ...

During Quilt Canada, I stumbled across some demos from The Sewing Room in Calgary. I really liked the teachers and what they were demoing and just their entire setup. I found out that they had a T-shirt class in August and well, I want to learn how to use my serger better. So I enrolled. I believe we are 15 in the class - that's crazy!!! And they have a perfect set-up for multiple cameras. Very well done, but then they have a techie person who works for them.
The first day we chatted about sizing and drafting the pattern ...
read moreFirst I have to tell you all, dear friends, that I really appreciate all the wonderful conversations that resulted from my last post. It is very encouraging to know that so many of you feel like I do, reluctant to complain as I am so fortunate, but also coming up against challenges to keeping my spirits up. Your comments were so helpful, thank you. If you haven’t already, go back and read the comments (Carrying On). There are over 60 comments that will make you feel better, and let you know that there are many out there who understand ...
