Be careful what you teach! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I never received any training to be a teacher; it seems to come naturally to me, for which I am eternally grateful. I never planned on being a quilt teacher, but the opportunity fell into my lap (thank you, Gail, at the Hobby Horse for believing in me!), and I took to it like a duck to water!

I also try NOT to DICTATE RULES to my students. I try to create an environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, and I explain why we do something a certain way. If they want to do it differently, that's OK ...

Questions and I WANT answers! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh, great scot!!! I had trouble sleeping, so I got up and did some work. Then when I finally went to sleep, I went into a deep sleep, and I'm WAY BEHIND this morning. Why is that?

There are many other mysteries in this world. Why can't I log into my mySewnet account on my laptop, yet I can log into the account on my other computer and all of my devices? Yep—the world is a mystery, to be sure.

So here are a few hurried photos, as I have UFO club at 9:15, and I ...

Learning to Fail on Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

So last week, I was talking to a friend of mine and she said, "Ohhhh I don't have a creative bone in my body."  If I only I had a dime for every time I heard that.  I do believe people are born with strengths and weaknesses and there is no reason that you need to be strong in everything.  HOWEVER...I believe that everyone can enjoy the joy of "making" no matter what their talents.  I mean think about it.  How many kids don't like to color and draw?  Hardly any.  It's only when they hit ...

The lost list gets longer from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I am even more annoyed with myself this morning. Well, I'm no longer irritated, but yesterday? I was very annoyed. I was putting together the presser feet I was going to demo in my presentation, and do you think I can find my Open-Toe feet for the PFAFF? They are not to be seen. Then I realized that I was also missing my Quilt Binder. I have two of them, and they are in big purple boxes.

I'm VERY diligent about keeping all my presser feet in a specific location by brand. I'm anal about it. But ...

On the POSITIVE side from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I am ANNOYED!!! And I'm annoyed at myself!

I'm trying to get organized for the events over the next couple of weeks. The first one is tonight. So I'm organizing the samples, and I'm missing ONE. Actually, I'm missing a couple of samples. Now, thankfully, both of them are small and would take very little time to redo. It's the principle of the matter. I had one in my hand last week, and I swear I left it on the table.

I've been searching for it, and nothing!! Thankfully, I had it in ...

EXCITEMENT abounds!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Tammy hit the jackpot!!! She got both quilts right!!!

Here are the two quilts that I'm contemplating teaching in the fall. Now, I'll only teach one or the other, but not both - at least not simultaneously. I'm crazy, but not that crazy.

I have a few votes for one and some for the other - if you have comments, you can email me or comment on the blog. elainetheriault@gmail.com

Look who I spotted on the morning walk. Yep, after all that rain the night before, there were worms and a snail on the sidewalk! It seems ...

What is your PURPOSE in life? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I didn't think I was going to make it this morning! I mean getting my presentations ready. I went to bed relatively late for me, but I got up when the PILL alarm rang! I notice that's my last one, so I must go to the drugstore to get more.

But the presentations are ready. Yesterday, I wondered if I had enough content for one of them, but after putting all the pictures together, I wonder if I'll get a chance to talk! This whole business of sharing in the Zoom format is fantastic, and I've ...

The GREAT Fabric Swap from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Here's a random thought I had when I woke up this morning.

It's all about learning - what else! When we had small children, what did we do for them? We encouraged them to explore, experiment, and color OUTSIDE the lines. We were willing to spend thousands of dollars for ballet lessons, swim lessons, university, books, and so much more.

So what happens when we become adults, and our children are gone? We seem to think learning and spending money on education is a BAD thing. I once had a lady who said she could NOT waste some fabric ...

Lexi and the squirrels from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Things are coming together; I have one last group to finish the admin work. That HAS to happen today as I'm away this coming week, and I'd like it off my plate. Hopefully, it will take minimal time as I have two Zoom sessions this morning and right into the Virtual Retreat - see the link at the bottom of the post.

I discovered something yesterday as I was tidying up my Facebook groups. I actually DELETED one group - it was from a specific project about three years ago. No need to keep that one around.

Deleting a Facebook ...

The decluttering continues from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Thanks for all the tips and suggestions. I need to spend a bit of time going through them all! I'm on a roll, and I can't stop, yet I have to. I have some admin work that needs to be done -- I promise by Sunday, all of it will be complete - it has to -- there are deadlines!

The writing is almost finished -- that goodness, as I need to move on. But this happened at my house, and I'm still in SHOCK.

Two things have let this mess in my house become an issue. And I shouldn't ...

Off the Wall from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

I have to apologize - truly- the last couple of months have been tough.  Between Covid, and dealing with some family matters, my creativity has been truly sapped.  It might go on like this for a while, but since I know that times like these come and go, I'll keep going with my blog....even if it's to just host and read through your posts!

Which dog breed are you? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh - I'm not sure what happened yesterday. The blog was written, and I swear I hit PUBLISH before I left for the gym. But apparently, that didn't happen. Today -- I had a bad night and slept in -- I really slept in, so it's late again!

You all know about Lexi and Murphy, and I talk about their personalities and show you lots of pictures. However, their personalities are very much linked to their breed. I found these videos, which I think explain PERFECTLY how they differ. I laughed my head off watching these.

The first is a ...

Getting Ready for More Mosaics on Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

After much angst,  I did manage to come up with a photo for my upcoming Timna Tarr's Stitched Mosiac class.  Good thing too since it starts on Monday morning!  I did do a lot of research, but ultimately I took the easy way out and bought a picture from IStock.

Points that lead to this choice

  1. It has the same joyful theme that Tessa's Mosaic does so it will form a series
  2. The color palettes will be similar
  3. No faces to obsess about
  4. Hands that I know how to do
  5. Landscape orientation

You see, somewhere in my research ...

Be the CHANGE from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Do you believe in coincidences? I do! You'll never guess what happened? I got up this morning and decided to dig deep through the T-shirt drawer to find something new. What? That RARELY happens as I'm usually recycling through five different ones.

This is what I discovered.

My T-shirt today

Then I opened up my e-mail and found a wonderful e-mail from Helen. She sent a link to James Clear's blog, which is amazing. Here's the link. I also snagged one of the quotes because it's so appropriate for what I said in the blog ...
