So if anyone tells you that things are not back to normal - they are lying! Where did all the people come from yesterday? Granted, it was a rainy Saturday afternoon, so people probably had nothing better to do. The shopping plaza parking lots were jammed. I had to zip out to get dog food. The store itself wasn't that busy, but then there were other stores in that plaza.

I went to the Costco parking lot to find a geocache. NOT a parking space to be found! I parked in the plaza beside Costco and got the cache. Then ...

Stitching Stuff Weeks 43 and 44 from Life In Pieces

Happy Halloween!  Hopefully you are all ready for trick or treaters this evening.  We are, though I'm not sure how many we'll get. A lot of parents from work were planning on dong the trunk n trick with their kiddos this weekend.

I missed posting last weekend.  We were at a family wedding and had a tire go bad. I had hoped to get a post out, but we were at the wedding late, then had to be up and out early on Sunday to find someplace to fix the tire before we started the 350 mile drive ...

celebrate on . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I may have shared that I give as much time as my birthday wants to be celebrated. A week where you only work two days and have the next five free is as good a time to continue celebrating as any! I gave a whole post to the Tate Farms fun, but I'll condense the remainder of the long weekend here. Mostly.  I think.

Thursday, the weather continued to be beautiful, and since a wet, cool front was moving in on Friday, our regular boat day, Todd and I decided to go ahead and get our lake action in ...

The 2020 Doan Family Halloween Party

Every year for Halloween, we have big, themed parties. We love any reason to get together, but Halloween is one of our favorites! As many of you know, and for those of you who didn’t know, Jenny started her sewing journey as a costume sewist for the theater. She’s always been a whiz at whipping up costumes! Besides being passionate about dressing up, she loves a reason to decorate the house and always goes all out during the holidays!

Leading up to Halloween, we pick a family theme (last year was Harry ...

let the festivities commence . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

It's BIRTHDAY weekend!!  Hip, hip!!  The fun started Thursday evening when I pulled up and there were two beautiful planters of my favorite fall flowers . . .
MUMS!  Aren't they pretty?  Todd knows me so well!

Friday we hit the lake around 11:30.  Even the fish must have known it was my birthday weekend! I actually pulled out my pole (Todd was catching them hand over fist, so to speak) and I did well.
I caught about eight (to Todd's twenty, but who's counting?).  Mine were GOOD sized!
The heron even squawked out a birthday greeting.  ;)

Oh Hallows Eve from Quilt Doodle Doodles

Growing up my mom had these spooky paper decorations that she would put in the windows. I knew Halloween was right around the corner when mom would tape them to the inside of the windows. I can sometimes find them now at vintage shops. Well, my owl design is inspired by my childhood memories of these black and orange decorations. If you were a kiddo that grew up in the 60's and 70's you know exactly what I'm talking about. I took some liberties and added some green and purple too. The project I worked on today ...

all the things . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Remember that cute Halloween fabric I got a couple of weeks ago??
Really cute, right??  Guess what I found out on accident . . .
It GLOWS IN THE DARK!!!  Is that not the best?  You know what that means?
It means I went back and got MORE!  Haha!  And as per usual, I found something else I *needed* while I was there.

Joc sent me this photo during the week . . .
Ezra's little bed, all ready for little Ezra!  The pillow sham turned out so sweetly!

I've been so puzzled trying to figure out why, of my two hanging pots of ...

Ghastly Ghouls Blog Hop from Quilted Delights

Welcome to day two of the Ghastly Ghouls Blog.  Thanks to Carol of Just Let Me Quilt for hosting!
I love playing along with the Halloween Hop each year.

This year I knew my October would be super busy but I still wanted to play along and create something fun for Halloween and use up some of the good Halloween prints I have, so I decided to go with a quick quilt pattern, and one I have made before:  The Chevron quilt aka Zig Zag Quilt.

The top was super fast to put together and I had plenty of orange ...

4 Favourite Things in One Picture, Autumn Pinks, Turkey Soup from Canadian Needle Nana

This is Thursday, a lovely day to look back at the week and contemplate the weekend ahead. Thursday was my second favourite weekday...Friday being #1 signaling the work week ending. I used to say 4 pm on Friday was my all time favourite moment in a week.

Here is Neddy enjoying one of many walks down the deciduous tree lined path at the back of the property. This borders acres of undeveloped land so there are many trails to enjoy. Overnight it seems to have become leaf lined; lately the leaves are falling like snow.

I happened to step ...

Autumn Jubilee Halloween Fun from From My Carolina Home

When we moved to our home in the mountains, we knew that there wouldn’t be any trick or treaters who would hike up here. So, for many years, Halloween was not a big deal. That is, until we joined the MINI club and began going to the annual costume party. Now, it is fun to do a little tablescape, make some pumpkin recipes and sew a table topper or a wall hanging or even a new costume. On this table, skulls and black webs bubble out of a black cauldron with happy pumpkins nestled in the leaves.

I’ve had so much fun all month designing Halloween Gnomes. I know how much you love paper pieced gnomes, and so do I! After finishing 12 new Halloween blocks, I have put them into my latest quilt pattern.

BOO CREW GNOME QUILT

I’m loving all of these Gnomes, but here are some of my favorites…

The SO FRANKEN CUTE GNOME has a tiny little spider made from a button with French Knot eyes. Adorps!

The WITCH’S BREW GNOME is mixing her favorite concoction in her cauldron….TOO FUN!

Blogtober; two for one 13 &14 from Rose Prairie Quilts and Farm

I apologize for not writing yesterday but absolutely nothing of interest happened yesterday. I had physical therapy in the morning and then went to Costco after that in the afternoon. Came home, took a nap, cook dinner and went to bed early. That was pretty much my day yesterday so I didn’t feel like writing about that. But today was a whole different day.

Early this morning I had an appointment with another type a therapist that was going to check my right leg. I have been having some swelling in my whole leg. The physical therapist I've ...

Peek-a-Boo Pumpkin Quilt from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

There once was a mischievous fellow named Stingy Jack, or so says the old Irish myth.

The Devil – who had been tricked by Jack one too many times – didn’t want him, and heaven wouldn’t take him. So when he died, Jack was consigned to roam the earth forever with a lantern carved out of a turnip. Over time, he became known as Jack of the Lantern or, Jack O’Lantern.

For hundreds of years, Irish folk carved spooky faces on turnips and potatoes to repel the ghost of Stingy Jack. Later, when Irish immigrants arrived in America, they ...
