Cruising about from Romany Quilting

Something ticked off the Bucket List, and what an adventure we had.  We are currently in Te Anau (which means place of swirling waters) and recently enjoyed a Coach/Cruise/Underwater Observatory combo to Milford Sound and through the Homer Tunnel.  Our adventure started in Te Anau when we boarded the big red coach – with several photo stops along the way.  The scenery here is spectacular. The very pretty Mirror Lakes were just off the roadside, and it was a nice easy 5 minute  boardwalk there and back.  People everywhere, we certainly weren’t the only bus in the car ...

let the festivities commence . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

It's BIRTHDAY weekend!!  Hip, hip!!  The fun started Thursday evening when I pulled up and there were two beautiful planters of my favorite fall flowers . . .
MUMS!  Aren't they pretty?  Todd knows me so well!

Friday we hit the lake around 11:30.  Even the fish must have known it was my birthday weekend! I actually pulled out my pole (Todd was catching them hand over fist, so to speak) and I did well.
I caught about eight (to Todd's twenty, but who's counting?).  Mine were GOOD sized!
The heron even squawked out a birthday greeting.  ;)

Saturday ...

Life in the POND from Sew Fresh Quilts

This was a fast and fun finish!

Say hello to my little froggy!

I had the most fun choosing fabrics for this quilt. I love the way these dots all play off of each other.

Another fresh dusting of snow made for the perfect backdrop.

The backing was pieced using a yard of Sticks & Twine by Alison Glass for Andover Fabrics.

And I had an extra lily pad, so I decided to piece it into the backing.

I quilted using my usual wavy lines from edge to edge using my walking foot on my domestic.

And finished the binding by ...

happy busy . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

This is going to be another photo-heavy post; I've had lots going on!  We can only carry over 40 hours of vacation time into the new year, and I realized here it was late in October, and I had over 80 hours--I needed to burn some time!  And since we get two weeks over the Christmas holiday, I don't need it for then.  So I took Monday and Tuesday and enjoyed another five day weekend.  Bliss!

I did so much I'm going to have to split it over a couple of posts.  Don't laugh. Sunday was ...
