Good morning, my friends. It was another busy day yesterday. I got a late start after sleeping in later than usual, but I still managed to cross off the things on my list. I wanted to get busy with the Peppermint Bark before I did anything else. It's very easy to make. The hardest part of the whole thing is getting the dratted paper off the candy canes. Mike helped with that. When it was finished, it looked like this.
Good morning, my friends. Oh my...it is so dark outside. We're expecting lots of rain over the next several days. There could be around 4 inches in our area with minor flooding concerns in some places. Here on our hill, we're not at all worried about flooding. Sadly, however, Mike discovered the drainage pipes leading away from our downspouts are clogged with pine needles that cannot be dislodged with any equipment we have. We're going to have to call a plumber to snake those out. That should be a nice tidy plumbing bill. When it comes ...

read moreGood morning, my friends. The title of this post probably sounds more ominous than it should. I really only mean it's the beginning of the end of the year. December 1st. It's all downhill from here. When we reach the bottom, it'll be 2026. To this blogger born in the 1950's it has me thinking I've entered some kind of futuristic sci-fi novel. The good news is that I'm the one writing the story...for now, at least.

read moreGood morning, my friends. It was a busy day yesterday. During the presidential campaign, I was amused when Governor Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania said, "My team is guided by three letters every single day: G-S-D." And, if you missed that, he spelled it out..."Getting sh*t done." When I can cross everything off a day's to-do list, I announce it to Mike: "I got sh*t done today." Admittedly, I didn't start sewing together the Merry, Merry Snowmen yesterday, but I got a lot of other stuff done.
First, I finished off My Embroidered Garden.

Good morning, my friends. We survived our grocery shopping trip yesterday. We even managed to walk to and from the car without getting wet. The rain paused for a bit in the morning, but it'll be back in full swing today, along with plenty of wind. As always, I just want the power to stay on.
After lunch, I as able to make my way to the sewing room. On yesterday's agenda was to get started on the third of six rows for the Gumballs quilt. I have several scrappy quilts on my WIPs list these days, and ...

Good morning, my friends. It wasn't terribly warm yesterday, but the humidity was high, making it feel warmer than it actually was. Smitty was outside for quite a while. When he came in, he fell over in a dead heap to cool his tummy furs on the wood floor.

Good morning, my friends. Happy Labor Day and welcome to September! Time marches on, doesn't it? Fall will be here soon enough. Our landscape is already showing signs.
It was a busy weekend for me. Matthew was here on Saturday and spent the day with us. It was good seeing him and hearing about all the things he's involved with. Then yesterday, I had some housework to do, and we also headed down to the neighbors' for an open house. We didn't stay long, but it still took a chunk out of the day.

read moreGood morning, my friends. I'm writing fast this morning. We have to drive into town to get the windshield replaced on Mike's truck. Yes, the windshield. Do you remember the windshield episode...the one where we weren't even two hours on our way for our trip to Alaska when a gravel truck threw a rock and broke our windshield? Oh yeah...that was fun...and annoying.

Good morning, my friends. Things are starting to settle down here at the stationary Three Cats Ranch. And...welcome to August! Good grief! The summer is flying by! Being on the road for the past two months has us feeling as if we're in some kind of time warp. As we get organized, we're falling back into our routines. So let's just see what greeted us in the garden when we got home.
The echinacea is in full bloom, and the bees are all over it.
