Not feeling well definitely slowed down my week on several fronts. I barely got in my 15 minutes on the days I felt really bad, so I didn't do so well on my to do list even though it was pretty short.

It's the halfway point in April. Already? My progress this month is a bit of mixed bag. I'm doing well on some things and no so hot on others. The progress on the to do list is a bit spotty for last week.

I'm sure there are a lot in the US that agree with that sentiment. Hopefully we'll actually see some spring weather this week (without tornadoes and floods would be nice).
It was a good week to hang out in the sewing room and work on last week's to do list.
To Do List for 04/01/2025

read moreWe are a few days into April so it's time to look back at what got done last month and post a March PHD report and join the linky party over at Ms P Designs USA. I appreciate these monthly look backs, especially when I have no finishes. It helps me remember that I did actually do stuff even though there are no updates to my PHD tracking sheet.
No new starts either, so I'm at least not adding to my UFO list yet. There was some good progress on several projects this month.
March was a pretty productive month, fingers crossed April is as well. I did pretty well with my last to do list for March.

Our House |
Mine is a cottage with garden and dog!
then we were given 6 more prompts to add rows to our quilts
This image shows the "crown block, which I interpreted as an actual crown, appliqueing the motif from my mary englebreit fabric, princess of quilt a lot, plus a heart... I love her fabric prints and cut out several motifs to use on my center
Another prompt was slicing into a block and inserting another fabric, in the image below it is ...It seems my modus operandi these days is to take my projects with deadlines down to the wire. The quilt parade link up for the 2025 SAHRR kicks off today over at Quilting Gail. I finished the last borders on my version yesterday just before lunch.
This has become one of my favorite quilt alongs. Coming up with a block to meet the prompt and making it fit in the dimensions for that border is part of the challenge and the fun. It's also improved my piecing skills on small blocks.
This is my third year participating in the ...

I pulled out the button box for inspiration and the yellow scrap box. I knew I wanted to make a sculpture of sorts, a 3-D box maybe....

Even with lots of stitching time, I'm finding it hard to get to every item on my to do list. Mostly because I still have a couple of projects with deadlines, the SAHRR and the guild BOM. I probably should have stuck to a shorter list for last week.

3. Chocolate Marshmallows: Make backing - no progress

read moreThere was a good bit of sewing to deadlines this last week. I try hard to avoid that as my stitching time is supposed to be relaxing and meditative. Of course it was my own fault, I had plenty of time to work on my projects, I just got sidelined with the new and shiny. At any rate, it all paid off and last week's to do list has lots of check marks.
Last week it seemed like we had more winter than spring. This week is looks like we'll have more spring than winter. I'm ready for that, but not the severe weather part of spring. Cleaning out the tornado shelter is on my housekeeping list for this week. Hopefully we won't need it this season, but we usually use it at least once in the spring. Just part of life when you live in Oklahoma.
No surprise that February went fast. I just wasn't ready for how fast it went. Now that we've moved into March, it's time to post a February PHD report and join the linky party over at P Designs USA.
There's been no change in my PHD tracking sheet.
No finishes, but no new starts either. So not good, but not bad either. Though I've not had any finishes, there has been progress on several projects.
To get finishes, backings are needed. I didn't get very far with my plan to move Chocolate Marshmallows (Seabreeze ...

It wasn't a bad week, I just had way too much on ...
read morethe prompt was Kite blocks... I started with a search online to see them, and for my whimsical house piece decided to make them look like kites, and used blue sky scraps (Thanks, RSC!) plus scrap triangles from feedsack fabrics
I did them improvisationally. cut a rectangle from a blue scrap, then cut that in half on an angle both directions. Now to add a triangle that meets on the tips after sewingI spent a lot of time in the sewing room this weekend playing catch up with the 2025 Stay At Home Round Robin (Quilting Gail).
Last time I posted about this project only two sides of border #4 were finished and attached. I did finish all the log cabin blocks for border #5.
The drive home from Texas was mostly uneventful. But it's a long time to be in the car, it's a 9 hour drive. The worst part was the heavy fog from College Station to Waco, thankfully there wasn't much traffic. But I was pretty tired when I pulled into the driveway. I ended up in bed a good hour before my normal bedtime last night, but feel much better this morning.
I got in several solid days of stitching time last week, but because I was so behind on my priority projects (projects with deadlines), I didn ...
