Blessed Beyond Measure from From the Strawberry Patch...

Yesterday was one day to reflect on what we're truly thankful for, to give voice to the blessings in our lives. We gathered with family around our son's table and did just that. My greatest blessing is the love of this one man. We've been together since high school; the span between these two snapshots in time is almost fifty years. We are thankful to God for health, for family and for blessings

Of grandsons and jeans and hurricanes from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Just dumped on the table, there doesn't seem to be much sewing, but he had five pairs!

Our grandson Lane, came for a visit last Friday. You know what they say, "They only come when they want something"? Well, it's sort of true. He gave me a hug, after informing me that he needed some jeans hemmed. Sure. Not a problem.

Let's see, clean and thread the machine, put in a new, extra-heavy duty universal needle (twice), replace the rotary cutter blade or at the very least sharpen it, spend 45 minutes cutting and sewing new ...

"The Retreat" ~~ Finished!! from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Way back in July of 2019, I attended a quilt retreat in Baton Rouge with other members of the BRMQG. After I got home, I finished up the top and added it to the bin. A couple of weeks ago I dug through the bin and chose this top to quilt.

A little blue thread, feathers in the border, and some improv quilting.

I don't know what I did unless I really look at the individual motifs. In other words, I just had fun.

The back of the quilt is this solid blue linen and, because it was too ...

All Manner of Little Things from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Hi everyone! I have been taking pictures and thinking, "Oh this is something to blog about." But you know what happens? I get busy with other stuff and by the time I get on the computer, I'm just not into it. So the pictures get lost in the shuffle. And all the little things become distant memories. Not today! Instead here are some little things, little happenings, and little news bits.

Let's start with this stinker. Doesn't she look just so sad? I was sitting at the table doing paperwork and heard a whimper of a cry ...

Weekend Work from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

This old hand-crank
pump was the impetus.
Richard and I have been busy in the yard. He wanted a water feature in the back yard to entice the birds. More birds. Apparently there aren't enough.

So what the heck. I made it quite clear that I am not willing to pull grass in a flower bed that we had abandoned years ago.

Richard: But everyone can see it (the abandoned flower bed) from the patio.
Me: Why does that matter? Look at the yucky mess the birds made ON the patio.  (They throw seed on the bricks. Some they ...

Looking back, preparing to look forward from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

To See Such Fun

We're in a new year it seems, so it's time to look back. I'll look forward in a day or so, but I need time to process last year. So much has happened, two new babies in the family, the loss of Richard's dad, my hospital stay and surgery.

Another Red Feather from Red Is a Neutral challenge

Still, as it turns out, I've been quite busy in my little world.

Dora and Diego

Busy with what, you might be asking yourself (because I did set myself up for that question ...

happy crazy busy . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

The crazy busyness of the season continues ... and probably will right up until Christmas Eve evening! But it's happy crazy busy, which makes all the difference in the world, right?!  Wednesday evening Todd and I went to the staff Christmas party for Essential, the church where we're currently serving.
It was a very fun, laid back evening. Except for the 10 minutes we had in Target (where we went as a group to shop for our dirty Santa gifts).  That was hilarious!

Thursday lunch was the staff Christmas luncheon for my work (it was also my last day ...

Flowers and Fish (and more f-words) from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Is that not an odd combination? But, yeah, that's today's title. Flowers on my family's graves. Fabric for a new challenge I've found. And fish from our pond, thanks to a sweet husband. First though, I'm going to stop making all the fs bold. You get the idea, right? So enough of that.

Okay, the flowers are new silk flowers that Richard and I put on the graves of parents, grandparents and one great-uncle. Richard swept the graves to get the dust and leaves off while I arranged ...

Meet the Hummers from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Sitting on Millie's chair which had
been put outdoors
temporarily.

Richard has been feeding the birds again. Well, he never really stopped. But he's now feeding them to keep them safe from hunters. You see, dove season has begun.

Doves on the barbeque pit? Not a little ironic, right?
For someone who was a hunter, he sure is working hard to keep his fat doves happy at home. With no intention of shooting them himself, of course.

Two of the four feeders at Will and Stacey's house
And then there are the hummers. We apparently live along ...
