After finishing piecing a row of quilt blocks I checked the stitch count on the BERNINA 560 and it’s just over 1.5 million stitches since the last service. That was just over five years ago. That’s not a lot of stitches when 3 million per year is average expected. I clearly have not been doing… Continue reading Welcome to 2026

I've been blogging recently about the quilts I managed to finish during the last nearly two years while isolating because of the Covid pandemic. I was in a funk for about the first six months of isolation and not sewing at all, but then I started making up for lost time. Now I'm playing catch-up on my blog.
After I made the quilt for Shirley A using orphan blocks (read about that here) I had a few teal crumb blocks left and set them aside to do something else with.
I shopped my stash and found these 2 ...

Jennie Doan's "Summer Camp" pattern looked like fun, and I was in the mood to work with teals and grays. I dug into my stash and found something to work with, but I ended up adding a few fat-quarters to round out the mix. We have to do ...

This week I worked on the rainbow irish chain blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge. I have been able to stay current with this quilt.
I found some little bits of teal/ aqua that I made into more of my little blocks.
I think I have everything done for March in teal /aqua, and I am ready for a new color.

So glad to have a little bit of teal to brighten things up a bit. I worked on the rainbow row by row this week making a zigzag. the HSTs are 3 1/2 inches. And the first two I sewed together were wrong LOL. There is one more Saturday in March for the rainbow scrap challenge, and I am nearly done with what I want to get finished in teal.
I hope everyone is staying well and quilting.

For simplicity and clarity I have divided my stash into Greenish Blue and Bluish Green.

Picture this - Leaving the Blue station, the train will stop first at Greenish-Blue and then at Bluish-Green before coming to a halt at Green station. For all the colors that lie between Blue and Green (but are neither Blue nor Green), March is the month in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2020 ...
The color for March and the rainbow scrap challenge is teal. I chose a more aqua color for my shine quilt.
I dug through my 2 inch scraps and found a little of everything for the tiny houses.

I think these blocks are cute and fun. There is a link at the bottom of the post for the pattern. The rainbow scrap challenge color for the month of March is teal. I really like having a new color each month to help me weed out the useable scraps, and make something useful. These use 1 1/2 inch strips and squares.
I use the littlest triangle scraps for this fun wonky star block. Each block is a little surprise. The centers and background are 2 inch squares.

I’ve completed piecing the top, measuring 72×108. The bottom two rows are tucked under – too long for my design wall!
Next step is using all the leftover fabric strips to piece the back. I’m hoping it will look like a giant square bulls-eye. Stay tuned for more!
