What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

Today is the day!!! The big wedding, but FIRST - I have to tell you about yesterday, and then you'll hear all about the wedding tomorrow. 

I'm not sure where the others were, but I asked the previous day if anyone wanted to go for a bike ride! I had a couple of takers, but when push came to shove, they were working out in the gym! But that's OK - I thoroughly enjoyed riding the bike. And sometimes being by yourself on a bike is best!

OK --- I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my face, and I can't help it. They are tears of joy, but still. And even when I got ahold of myself and then came back to edit, these pictures still bring tears to my eyes.

It was a wild night! I hate it when you go to bed tired but can't fall asleep. The last couple of nights, I've been tired and tried to read my book. This is the week I usually begin planning for our meals for Thanksgiving weekend. Not only do we need the full meal for the holiday, I like to do something different for the Wednesday night meal, and make plans for the leftovers. Last week, our local Publix put frozen turkeys on sale for 39-cents a pound, so I ran over to get two of the smaller 8-pound ones before they sold out of the little ones. I got the Workout quilt off the rails yesterday, it measures 58" square. I've really enjoyed working on this one. It's from the Wonderful Curves Sampler Book and uses the Wonder Curve ruler. I'll get the binding attached and whipped down today. The curved pieces are my last little bits of true Indigo fabric that I have saved hoarded over the years for something special- apparently this was it!

Have you ever been so exhausted that everything hurt? That was last evening. And then you finally get to check into your hotel room at 10:30 PM, and typically the first thing I do is turn off the AC; well, I didn't even do that. I crawled into bed and fell asleep. But not before I put my Mom's quilt on the bed to keep me warm.

 INGREDIENTS

• 8 Small Mason Jars

• 16 Ladyfingers (Biscotti Saviordi) (We need 2 per jar)

• 1 1/4 cup heavy cream

• 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

• 1/2 tsp vanilla

• 2 tsp instant coffee dissolved in 1 cup water (or use 1 cup of strong espresso)

• Cocoa Powder for dusting (optional)

PREPARATION

1. Cut each ladyfinger in half and set aside.

2. Place the coffee liquid in a shallow bowl and set aside.

3. Pour the heavy cream in a large mixing bowl, add the vanilla extract and beat till stiff peaks form.

I especially enjoyed the historical fiction works: A Well Behaved Woman, The Giver of Stars and The Union Quilters, as that's become my latest favorite genre but the other was a great read too. The Giver of Stars was most interesting to me

I call this my 'Chocolate Craving Buster Bowl' for good reason. As many others, I have a thing for chocolate and I try to find a healthy balance to include this in my diet. This smoothie bowl more than satisfies any chocolate cravings and the best part is that once I've had a bowl, I don't want or need anything chocolate for quite some time afterwards. "Life is short. Eat dessert first."

OK --- so I don't know how people can function in a day if they don't move. I've been trying to be really careful with what I eat. OK - so I've not been careful and it seems like it's all about the desserts here.
