Island Batik Ambassador and ByAnnie Challenge from Curlicue Creations

For the month of October, the Island Batik Ambassadors were challenged to sew a ByAnnie bag.  I made the Ultimate Travel Bag 2.0.

Disclaimer:  The products used to make this project were given to me by Island Batik and Industry Partners.

Here's the pattern.  You can find this pattern, plus a helpful add-on video on the ByAnnie.com website.  This is the third ByAnnie pattern I've sewn, and my favorite so far.  The step-by-step directions are written clearly and each step has a little box to check off, which keeps me on track and feeling accomplished.

Renaissance Ribbons Bags from Wendy's Quilts and More

I tried something new this week and made these cute bags with Renaissance Ribbons velvet ribbons.  The lower part of these bags is covered in velvet ribbons - the big flowers on the blue background.

I had seen photos of the velvet ribbons on social media, but when I saw them in person at Stitch Witches in Dunedin I was quite surprised at how luxurious they were.  They colours are very deep and rich, and of course the velvet feels beautiful to touch.

I couldn't decide which ribbon to buy, so I bought two.  I decided to work with the ...

Divide and Conquer Large Bag Finish! from Curlicue Creations

Here's the finish of my large Divide and Conquer ByAnnie.com bag!  I actually finished a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't get to the blog post until today.  It's almost Christmas.  All the gifts are wrapped and I have a few minutes to write.

Disclaimer:  The products used to make this bag were generously provided by Island Batik, ByAnnie.com, Aurifil Thread, and Schmetz Needles.
This is the front of the bag.  I used the Autumn Wings fabric collection by Island Batik.  Aren't the butterflies beautiful?  I love the colors in this collection.  These ...

Divide and Conquer progress from Curlicue Creations

Do you remember my small Divide and Conquer bag I made for the Island Batik ByAnnie.com challenge?  I'm sure I mentioned that I'm also making this in the large size.  It had to go on the back burner for a while so I could finish up a few other projects, but I had some time to work on it one day this week.

Disclaimer:  The products used to make this project were given to me by Island Batik and industry partners.

This is one of the side strips for the bag.  You can see the the beautiful ...

Divide and Conquer ByAnnie Bag Challenge from Curlicue Creations

Pshew!  Here I am posting about my byAnnie bag on the last day of September.  I just barely finished this morning.  I've had so many things pulling me away from sewing time in the last month.  I'm actually making two bags, this is the smaller size.  The large sized bag is about 3/4 of the way done at this time.  I'll show it on another post when it's complete.

Disclosure:  The products used to make this bag were given to me by Island Batik, ByAnnie.com, Aurifil Thread, and Schmetz Needles.

This month's Island ...

Island Batik and ByAnnie Challenge from Sew Preeti Quilts

Me: I am so excited that I can explode!!!
Paul: Surprise that the new bag cannot "contain" your excitement.

Let's ignore Paul for now.  I have been consumed by the bag making process and my excitement sometimes (okay, often) spilled into his area.

Island Batik teamed with ByAnnie for the September Challenge.  We picked a pattern of our choice from ByAnnie. I chose the backpack Got Your Back 2.1.  All fabric was provided by Island Batik. I chose Moonlight Sky - designed by Kathy Engle for Kate Colleran of Seams Like a Dream Quilt Designs

ByAnnie provided the detailed ...

Positivity QAL - Winners from Sew Preeti Quilts

We have come to the end of our journey.  This is the final stop in the Positivity QAL 2021.

It took many emails, phone calls, scribbles and scrawls, and test blocks.  There were a couple of disappointments but many pleasant surprises. My hope was a dozen new quilts for the Mercyful Hospital. Bernie tells me that we have 19.  So far.

From Janine (Quilts from the Little House)

From Mary (Quilting is in my Blood)

I know Diann's quilt is in progress. Joy is working on (at least) two quilts and quilting one flimsy received from Astrid. Mari is ...

Octopus Tote from Wendy's Quilts and More

How cool is my new tote?

I just had to make a bag from the wonderful new Octopus fabric designed by Brandon Mably for Kaffe Fassett Collective.

I wanted the lining to be from Kaffe Fassett fabrics too, and I was considering using the two fat quarters of black and white Onion Rings that I've got in my stash.  But I've got other plans for them, so I bought Good Vibrations in black in white (on the left above).  But then I thought it might be hard to find "stuff" in the bottom of the bag, so I ...

Catch All Caddy 2.0 from Wendy's Quilts and More

I've got another finished bag to share with you.

This is the Catch All Caddy 2.0 from Patterns by Annie.

I gave my mum the pattern for Christmas and the fabrics for her bag (Land Art by Odile Bailloeul for Free Spirit Fabrics), shown on the left above.

Then, after just a few days, it dawned on me that she might make one for me too, so I quilted the panels for my bag before mum went home to Auckland.  She took them with her, and when we went to Auckland a couple of weeks ago she presented ...
