shining blue quilt from Charm About You

This quilt was made last summer and gifted to a wonderful educator who retired from my kids school. I used some fabulous new products in the making of this quilt, which helped me make perfect blocks and perfect points with pins! I don't know why I didn't blog about it at the time but here we are, months later and it seemed a shame to have documented the making of the quilt and not share.
I sneakily got the girls to find out her favourite colour... blue! I went through my stash and picked out loads of blue ...

Hello and welcome to the first day of the Island Batik Ambassador Row by Row blog hop.  This is my quilt, Stars and Stripes Forever that I made with the new Americana fabric collection by Kathy Engle.  I'm sorry that it is just a top and not a finished quilt.  January was exceptionally busy for me and I finished the top and took this quickie photo just before writing my post.  Normally I do a lot more photos and I do apologize.  I will write another post with more detail when I finish the quilt.

Step by Step featuring the Sunrise quilt from Curlicue Creations

Today I'm going to show you the gradations project I made for the January Island Batik Ambassador challenge.  I'm calling this quilt Sunrise.  I ended last year with Sunset Tree, so it was only fitting to begin 2022 with a Sunrise.

Disclaimer:  The products used to make this quilt were given to me by Island Batik and Industry Partners.
The January Challenge is aptly titled Step by Step.  This year Island Batik has put together 10 different colorways of gradation fabrics.  These beautiful foundation fabrics are available by the yard in local quilt shops.

a vision kept in sight from Charm About You

Following on from my last post, I'm back to share my new word of the year and a very special project I created. It seems so late to say this but Happy New Year to you all, I am sending my very best wishes to you all for a marvellous, healthy and joy filled 2022!

In previous years I have created a vision board, usually on new years eve, often incorporating my word of the year. I had lots of fun collaging with decorative paper, magazine clippings and pictures to create my board. This year I stepped that idea ...

January 2022 from Sew Karen-ly Created...

All I can say is...it's a good thing I don't make new year resolutions because if I did...I would have broken one by now!  It's in my head to blog more this year as I really enjoy writing and posting, but the time just seems to zoom by and much of what keep me busy just isn't good blogging material (like inventory, answering emails, shovelling snow!).    There are some fun things too, and the highlight of January has been starting the new 2022 Colour Builders program with Aurifil.

My list of subscribers has grown ...

A year in the making : The fruits of plenty from Charm About You

It took a year...

How it started...

How it's going...

Done!

It's not often I complete something in a year, my work in progress pile can attest to that! This stitch-a-long is the third one I've completed from Modern Folk Embroidery, obviously I highly recommend his patterns and this was a joy to stitch. It was lovely receiving the next part of the pattern each month and I've really enjoying seeing all the other versions as they've been stitched on instagram #MFESAL2021, so many interesting colour combinations. The pattern is The Fruits of Plenty. Also ...

A new pattern! from Sew Karen-ly Created...

I've had a quilt rattling around in my head for a bit and I am happy to say the pattern has become a reality.

"Encircling" is a great design to showcase large prints and gorgeous florals, and when I saw Tula Pink's "Curiouser and Curiouser" line I knew it was perfect.  A trip to Mrs Pugsley's Emporium in Amherst yielded this stack of Fat Quarters.  I paired it with Fairy Dust for the background, and a black solid for the rings and binding.

It was fun to see how closely the fabric matches the artwork on the ...
