Land of Cotton? from From the Strawberry Patch...

Nope, look again, they're not cotton bolls; it's snow. Winter has arrived with a vengeance in the south. The weekend before last it was all ice, this past weekend it was all snow. Eight inches plus at Chez Goodneedle. That will teach me to make statements like "it's been so long since we've seen snow"! This snow was light and fluffy, due to the temperature being brutally cold, it is very pretty.&

2025 Holiday Wrap-Up from From the Strawberry Patch...

Consider this a post-Christmas, end of year, holiday wrap-up post. You might remember my initial foray into needlepoint, my birthday plaid. Our daughter took it back for finishing and surprised me by attaching it to the lid of this sweet little basket. I absolutely love it! It will hold my treasures and be a constant reminder of a wonderful weekend that we shared together. I don't know how

A Quick Trip from From the Strawberry Patch...

Since I last posted we've made a quick trip to New England and back. The trip wasn't a planned one but came about as a result of another quick trip: one that Dad made straight to the floor a week ago Friday. He got up from his bed that morning and was going into the bathroom, the next thing that he remembered was waking up facing the ceiling; he had fallen backwards, striking the back of his head

It's Me... from From the Strawberry Patch...

This blog post is going to be more of a pictorial update of the past week than a word-filled one. I guess I have more time to snap pics than to compose. So, c'mon along while I fill you in on the happenings in and around Chez Goodneedle... and beyond! Our oldest granddaughter represented North Carolina in the Southern Zone Championships in Orlando last week. We drove down to watch her compete

Amarillo Skies Revised and the Long Distance Runner from From the Strawberry Patch...

I participated in an online fabric swap last year hosted by redrainbootshandmade. I loved the wonderful variety of all the 5" blue squares that I received but struggled a bit with how I was going to use them. Julia, the swap host, offered a pattern to go along with the swap, her pattern was called "Amarillo Skies". It is a great pattern but revised my version a bit to include a blue/gray sashing

Augie the Daredevil from From the Strawberry Patch...

You see that brick ledge that extends underneath the screens on our back porch? It only measures about 6". Back a few weeks ago, when Dad was here, he was sitting out on the back patio enjoying an afternoon cup of coffee. Augie was with him, he always stays close, rarely wanders. The patio is located on the opposite side of the porch from what is pictured here. Dad was finishing up his coffee, I

The Past Few Weeks... from From the Strawberry Patch...

Consider this a catch-up post. I really do always have the best intentions of keeping up with this blog but, as we all know, life has a way of taking over. We did have a wonderful time with my Dad visiting here for three weeks before we headed back north with him at the beginning of the month. He especially enjoyed this copy of National Geographic from April 1928, his birth month and year; gifted

Wedges Gone Wild! from From the Strawberry Patch...

I know, it's been a while. I'm still here... still sewing up a storm. If you recall, from a former post, my latest obsession was the wedge block. Well, I'm still at it with this strip pieced variation. These wedges appear to be spinning out of control! This 16 block small wall quilt measures 28" square right now, I have plans for borders; we'll see how this progresses. Now, back to the scrappy

One Day At A Time from From the Strawberry Patch...

Its been a while, I know that. Time marches on, one day at a time, and before you know it a month (or more) has passed! Suffice it to say that the days have been busy ones, and it's all good. I'm going to hit the highlights with loads of photos here, simply as a way to catch up. It's good to be back! Augie is now two years old! That hardly seems possible. He was proud to receive a blessing from
