Red and White Applique 11, 12 from Virtual Quilter

Who needs a dozen, or two, different colours to make an applique quilt!

One hint if you choose red as one of the colours … make sure you only bleed on the red fabric!

However, make sure you wash the red fabrics very well before cutting to stop the fabric bleeding.

This will be my last post as the Virtual Quilter here on WordPress. I am looking for a new home for the quilt designs, but have other issues to deal with so will leave a note here when I can find the new home and the other issues are dealt ...

Make Ahead Mashed Potatoes from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve been trying to cook ahead a little bit. I may be a little odd but I prefer my own cooking to going out…for two reasons, Time and Taste…well maybe three reasons. I like to know what is in the food I eat. Oops. One more reason…cost. Don’t get me wrong, I am still happy …

Maple Nut Ice Cream from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

Yesterday I was watching YouTube videos while stitching. In fact, it was late last night (or early this morning!) when I saw this one and I was so tempted to stir up this ice cream right then but I waited.

Playing in the sewing room yesterday from Dreamworthy Quilts

I finished my Brenna Dresdon blocks and want to get the background cut today. They will be appliqued.

Shopping my stash, I am deciding between white on white, Grey low volume, or a variety of low volumes. They all really change the look.

I also have Fishy Business on the design wall while I make a few more blocks. My wall actually has a mix of four project WIPS:

  • Sydney Harbor Bridge with a paper sketch of the Opera House
  • Cluck, Cluck, Bawk!
  • My friend's row for our row swap project. She is calling her row quilt Farm Life ...

Finally Finished—IMT Cabana Huts from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

Only 20 years in a Bin!

Last week was a euphoria-filled week. I quilted every day—and tried a couple of new-to-me techniques. But first, look at this label:

Obs, it was not finished in 2018, but that was the original intent. That’s also the year I went back to college and my quilting took a hiatus. After 3 semesters, my health let me know that maybe I didn’t need to further my primary career and by that time, my workload had increased due to some staffing issues. Now that I’ve retired I would like to go ...

Eklutna Lakeside Trail from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm trusting everyone still has all the fingers of both hands. You were careful while handling fireworks yesterday, weren't you? If there were fireworks in Anchorage, we missed them. And what's the use when the sky is light until well past midnight? It was quiet in the RV park last night...mostly.

We spent our yesterday hiking the Eklutna Lakeside Trail, a part of Chugach State Park. We'd originally planned to spend two nights in the state park, camping in the campground. With it being the Fourth of July weekend, we found ...

creatively speaking this week, awaken to the possibilities from Not Afraid of Color

July is a new month, and a new color of scraps to use....Purple!

for a while purple was my favorite color. I got a purple camera, purple phone, wore purple clothes

Above is an image of my prep for another hexie spiral block, to work on at night

First choose fabrics to use, cut 2.5" squares, next baste fabrics to the shapes

I wonder if you feel like I do when you finally finish a quilt... like you finished a term paper... relief!

and a slight let down in the push to create...

so I took out my ...

Delectable Mountain Quilt Block from Patchwork Posse

This block has all the cozy, crisp-vibes I love when fall rolls around. Whether it’s the changing leaves or just the excuse to pull out rich, warm fabrics from your stash, the Delectable Mountains quilt block is one of those classics that never gets old.

In this version, I played with earthy tones and subtle contrast to give it a fresh seasonal feel—perfect for a fall-themed quilt or a simple table runner.

If you’ve never sewn this block before, don’t worry—it looks fancy but it’s actually pretty simple to piece together.

You’ll just ...

A Long Holiday Weekend Exhale - from Quiltville's Quips & Snips!

How did we spend our 4th?

With a taco bar, watermelon, brownies & ice cream and cut throat rounds of Mexican Train dominoes until it was late enough to go sit around the fire pit and just enjoy the fireflies with our neighbor friends.

It was perfect.  Perfectly wonderful!

A Busy Week from Quarter-Inch Capers

I feel like I have once again overloaded myself with stuff. I like to stay busy, and of course, I always like to help out wherever I am needed, but right now things are a little too overwhelming. I plan to sit down (when I have time, LOL), and prioritize what has to be done and make a note of when it has to be finished.

I haven’t done much sewing for myself, but I do have a quilt hanging in the lobby of a local bank this month.

The colors are more vibrant than the picture.

There is ...

An evolution in long arm quilting from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I had some major running around to do yesterday, so I didn't get much accomplished, but I did manage to sort more crap. I'm happy to report that only this much remains to sort.

What's left to sort

None of the three containers are super full, but it's now down to the crappy stuff so I might just do a bit a day. I know - I shouldn't do that. Just get it done, and then it's done! OK -- I'll try to focus a bit more on it today. I need to move on ...

Week 1 – Let Freedom Ring Progress from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

Here’s my plan for getting this monster stitched and framed before July 4, 2026. It’s Let Freedom Ring by Lila’s Studio. On 40 count linen, it should be 15-1/2″ x 12″. There are 35,818 stitches. If I stitch 750 stitches each week for 48 weeks, that will give me four weeks to get a frame...
