A Garden Update from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

We were out Wednesday (I think) and stopped by Lowe’s to see if we could find a lilac to put over Rita’s grave. We did find one. I didn’t start any eggplants this year because I wasn’t going to plant any. I’m so limited on garden space and had decided not to plant okra or...

RSC24 - Week #20 from My Sewing Room

Check off one more RSC finish!  And it's a UFO to check off too.  Yay!

This is the Elephant quilt, and I love it.  My reluctant quilt holder kept standing in the shade, and holding it crooked. But you get the idea of how bright the border actually is at the bottom where the sun hits it.  The quilter did Baptist Fans on it and the texture is wonderful.

The 12" elephant blocks were part of my RSC sewing in 2022-23.  The colors of the elephants are bright and cheerful.  And the border is a gorgeous Laurel Burch print ...

Looking ahead................. from Exuberant Color

I need to use the double design wall in the basement for the pink/green layout but I also needed to be upstairs to watch the season finale of some TV shows.  I decided to spend my time pulling the fabric for a couple new quilts.  I have made this one before and really liked it.  I decided to do one in mostly blue batiks.

This plastic drawer unit has 5 drawers and now all of the strips I have left fill just 3 of the drawers.  I started cutting the 2.5" strips over 20 years ago and keep ...

Technology Woes from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

I have a love/hate relationship with technology. DH tells me I'm his IT tech. He's in trouble because that's not my area of expertise, but yesterday, he sat down next to me and asked me for help. His phone did one of those automated updates and this is what now shows up on the little icon above my name in his phone (I erased my name and # in the photo for privacy)I guess I now wear a turban

being creative with fabric and paint... and cake from Not Afraid of Color

It's been a difficult week... but even so there are a few things I was able to do creatively so I'll share them here today.

The first is a sketchbook painting, a self portrait of sorts.

If I was Queen, you've all heard that phrase. I tried to paint someone sticking out their tongue in disgust.

ever feel like that?

I had a very painful week, making sewing difficult so I sort of planned my feathered star hoping next week I can sew at the machine

I sewed on a border or two on this

I sewed ...

Mississippi Mud Pie from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Pulling out another vintage recipe from the dessert files of long ago. I thought I'd shared this, but my search came up empty and this one is too good not to share. I've had this recipe for 37 years. In fact, we're still friends with the couple who sadly, are no longer a couple, but the husband now neighbors us and the wife is our real estate agent. Back when we were first married, he and his

Hexies from Quilts....etc.

More thread basting is taking place and I did order more papers should get here in a couple days but I have plenty to keep me busy in the meantime.  I love the little sayings and most I find so true!  (or should this one say use up your fabric?) The box will slowly fill […]

The Family Pictures from Jo's Country Junction

If you’ve been following along, you might remember we had family pictures taken a bit ago. They came back and I’m finally getting time to share them with you. I was super nervous about how they would turn out. In the end, I’m pretty happy with them. It was a task to wrangle all 19 …

From EQ8 to T Shirt from On Point Quilter

Tech Know Quilters Masters Challenge - Design Your Own T Shirt

Many of us have made quilts designed from old T Shirts.  Maybe like this design from my T Shirt and Panel Quilt class.

But what if we reversed the concept -- and took a quilt we designed in EQ8 and transferred it to a T Shirt?

Or create a design in EQ8 specifically for a T Shirt?

Wouldn't that be super fun to wear to your next guild meeting?

Or your next quilt show?

Everyone will be asking where you got your shirt.

Enjoying The Day! from Quilting My Way

Today was another one of those days where I could sleep in if I wanted, but it didn't happen. Ron was volunteering at the food bank today, so we didn't go walking. Patrick and I walked instead. It's a good walk where we chat about stuff we don't normally chat about.

After that I decided to pull out the box of genealogy stuff to organize it and get ready to enter information into the family tree. That took a couple hours as I needed to go through the photos as well. I had Patrick take the ...

Late To Do Tuesday and Late mid-month checkin Chookshed Challenge from Dreamworthy Quilts

So sorry for my tardiness lately bloggy friends.  I have caught a little something that has worn me out this past week.  I have also been working long long hours as well.  Two more days of school next week and I will be free for a couple of months!  Yay Yay!

Let us begin with the Chookshed Challenge Mid-Month Check in.  I have not started my kiwi birdies yet - well, I printed the pattern if that counts as a start.  I will maybe take them with me to work on when I visit Chris next week.

Please feel free to ...

It’s here! from Quilting and More...

What’s here, you ask? Why, my brand-new replacement Bernina 790Pro!!!! It’s been a month since my original Pro sort of blew up, but Bernina sent me a new one that I picked up from my dealer  last night. The only reason for the delay was that the local tech — a really nice guy — […]

May is Pink! from The Modern Diary

I finished my blocks for Princess Crown #2 and was so excited I started sewing them together.  About three fourths of the way through I realized I had forgotten to add the already cut sashing and cornerstones!  I decided to just keep on keeping on and cut another whole quilt to use the sashing and cornerstones in.

I am loving my Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmers for trimming up all the hst's for the A Quilting Life BOM/Rainbow Scrap Challenge block.  Here are my pink blocks for May.  Linking up with Angela .

Pieces of My Life ~ Blocks #7 & 8 - Star and Bowtie from Melva Loves Scraps

There is just something about remembering...

Here's a whole scientific explanation about it.

As I help Mom with her down-sizing, I see that she is struggling with the idea of letting go of the "stuff" that helps her reflect on various times of her life.

The thing is... we are both learning that we don't NEED to hold on to all of the "stuff" in order to keep the memories alive and to hold on to those feelings of happiness and comfort.

Taking pictures of special items and then writing down some thoughts and memories about them and ...

What I’m Reading: I Was Anastacia from Jo's Country Junction

I have always been a little intrigued by the royalty of the England and Queen Victoria. It’s so amazing how she came to be the mother or grandmother of so many leaders of countries in Europe. That often leads me to the Romanov family leaders of Russia and of course to Anastacia. So…when I saw …
