Two scenes from this morning's sunrise over the Cascade foothills in Eugene, OR. Photos blended in PS with 50% opacity on the top photo, which is more visible in the upper part of this image, the smoke line flowing in front of trees, and the 2nd photo is trees and ridges fading to the background. It was a lovely yellow glow, which remained in combining them.

Design Wall Monday 5/6/2024 from Mel's quilting blog

Design Wall Monday

Small Quilts and Doll Quilts

I am posting to the main site because I will not be available to post tomorrow.

The small peach and green blocks sitting to the left now have 5 blocks.

The T-shirt quilt is ready to load and quilt.

My second design wall has The Fall Quilt from all the leftover pieces.

I sort of reminds me of the Gypsy Wife pattern, but I am not using a jelly roll.

To-Do-List April 2024 from Mel's quilting blog

   My to-do-list for 2024

This list will change throughout the year, but I must focus on completing these things.

1. Donna's memory quilt or two, depending on how it goes together.

I have the second box and have started deconstructing it.
I think I have decided on at least one of the patterns.

3. I'd like to make some memory teddy bears from Rob, Lillian, and Donna's leftovers.

4. Wedding quilt

I have 5 of the one block done.
I need to make 4 of the second block to ensure this will work.
I'm not sure ...

 Watching on TV

mostly there are competition shows, and I like them. I was relieved Boston Rob remained on Deal or no deal Island, or I'd have lost interest. So you think you can dance has changed for the worse, American Idol is sending home kids at an alarming rate. First of all why rush when ...

Thank You from Nina Paley

A friend gave me these flowers for my birthday. I am so grateful for my friends!

I have complained a lot about being canceled since 2017. But I have also been supported by you this whole time. Some of you send direct donations. Some of you buy my merch. Some of you donate to my Patreon or the Heterodorx podcast. Some of you send kind messages. Some of you recommend my work to others.

Many of you go out of your way to support me for the exact same reasons others cancel me. You are awesome.

Your generosity is as ...

Bramble Blooms, Future Dreams Wool, Free Pattern from Canadian Needle Nana

I got a start when I glanced out the kitchen window. This guy was over close to the veranda seemingly looking in the window. I wondered what had caught his attention. I keep my camera there and took this shot while he kept staring. Then I realized there was a Red Squirrel on the wood pile in front of the window and no doubt that was what he was staring at.

Got to treat ourselves with a fast food take out meal recently. The fries were good and the wrap was a bacon, tomato/cucumber salad one. It was tasty ...

Snow on the Dogwoods from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

 Hello Everyone,

Mother Nature not only 'kissed' the dogwoods, but she planted a sloppy wet kiss on them!

It was just a light kiss in the beginning and then it turned into a full-on assault on the poor blossoms!  At this writing, it is still snowing lightly.

I was busy packing for our trip to Arizona where we are going to attend our granddaughter's graduation from ASU.  It was so hard to think summer clothes when the fire was roaring in the fireplace. All I wanted to do was curl up with a good book. I was also cleaning ...

April Stash Report and Goals Update from The Colorful Fabricholic

A busy and productive month!

First, there was retreat, always fun and enjoyable. I had two deadline projects prepped to work on, Ruby Jubilee and Sea Turtles. They're both small quilts, and I was able to get both tops pieced. That means I can count out the fabrics used, which my stash report needs.

Ruby Jubilee

April Stash Report

IN this month: 1-3/4 yards (from Prickly Pearadise Quilt Shop)
OUT this month: 8-7/8 yards (Sea Turtle quilt - 2-1/4 for top, 1-7/8 for back, 3/8 for binding.  Ruby Jubilee - 2-1/2 for top, 1-1 ...

Fountain Square Park from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! It's out last morning in Bowling Green. When we get ourselves around, we'll continue on a journey to our eastern-most stop this trip at Georgetown, Kentucky. It's just a little bit north of Lexington, and about a three-hour drive. We don't have much planned for the area except to visit a horse ranch. We want to see the thoroughbreds. We're told it's foaling season, and so we should see some young foals.

Backing up to our day yesterday, I spent some time on my embroidery, finishing off the roof and ...

Oh Scrap! : More HSTs from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Yay!  I wasn't sure if I was going to find the time to play with scraps this week.
But I decided dusting is overrated!

I made ten more of the scrappy 6.5" HSTs for my scrappy quilt.

Here is where we are now.  I really had to dig deep to find enough of these royal blue scraps.  Next up will be some purple for the corners.  But first I need to find some big chunks of more gray scraps.

I am really pleased with how this is progressing!

What did you do with your scraps this week?

Giddy with delight from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm almost giddy with delight this morning. A far cry from last week!

Why? I have the house to myself today, except for the girls, but they're OK. Don't get me wrong, as DH is extremely self-sufficient and doesn't need constant attention, but I'm perfectly OK if he's away. He even offered to buy me groceries yesterday! It's raining outside, so there is no guilt about being in the garden and no danger of wanting to sit in the gazebo! Even better? While walking yesterday, I glanced at my calendar to see what ...
