I finished the set of three cross stitch characters -

The patterns are part of the Animal Cracker Series from Stacy Nash.

I used a tutorial from Helen D. on YouTube for the finishing (I should have read her comment about how she uses oval bases now instead of a circle, but the circles worked fine this time, next time I will try oval).

These were enjoyable to stitch because once the design was blocked in, it was easy to just fill in the stitches. I used a handdyed 36 count linen, with overdyed threads (some commercial and some I over ...

what a summer . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Wow. Time really does fly when you're having fun, huh? Last I posted, I was headed to Hawaii! I had a lovely two weeks seeing all the sights and experiencing the culture. Really way too much to share; I'm not sure I've even processed all I saw and did—LOL...I don't think I've had time!

So. I'm back! What a trip we had! I took 1,557 photos over the course of our travels. Shall I post them all? Hahaha! Just kidding! I'm going to share my favorite five hundred photos, in no particular order (and feel free to scroll to the bottom for my slow stitching report) . . .

It's been a very stitch-intensive week! I probably should've/could've been working on a 3-yard quilt, but I'm heading to Yellowstone this week and didn't want to leave a project in the making. So instead I headed to my wool stash to kit the patriotic project I shared last week. But I got distracted when I found this cute patriotic mini-Quaker cross stitch kit I'd ordered last year. I've been thinking a lot about my posting frequency. I love my blogging community and I've made some dear and wonderful friends ... LIFEtime friends, even ... through this medium. But honestly, I missed *me* when I wasn't blogging. I love flipping through old posts and reading what I was up to, scrolling through the photos, reminiscing and getting all nostalgic. Rabbit, rabbit! It's hard to believe it's July 1st and we're halfway through the year already!

June was busy, but good. We got the very good news that the PET scan images were good, so Todd was cleared for surgery. That will happen on July 5th ... in four days. It's a major surgery. They'll remove the right lobe of his liver, his gallbladder, and ablate any mets they find on the left lobe. It's been a year.

Technically, it's not even been a half year, but it still feels like a whole, full, 12-month year, and I'm ready to be through with it! Is that wrong?

My daddy passed away late in January.

He'd been in hospice care since December of 2021, so it wasn't a complete surprise, but I still wasn't ready for him to be gone. I'm glad he's no longer suffering.

sweet, sweet, sweet . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Lots of lovely little tidbits from the past week. First up, my daughter-in-love, has created a *sweet* home business called "Madelyn Mae's Bake Shop". She makes the loveliest, tastiest cookies! How do I know they're tasty, you may ask? Because she sent me some!

Tea cups, tea pots, and quilt squares! And in purples, no less! It was a fun snail mail package to receive! She's so talented!
