I'd Love to Visit Your Quilt Guild: Glory Be! from Humble Quilts

As the USA celebrates 250th year of the signing of the Declaration of Independence I'm excited to share this trunk show in a couple of weeks!

Glory Bee! Patriotic Quilts from my Collection
I have loved patriotic quilts and patriotic colorways since I took my first quilt class! I love history as well and these two loves go hand in hand.  I hope my lecture will inspire you to start your own collection of  Americana quilts!

The large one is in the Smithsonian, so I won't be bringing that one! lol

I do hope to make a little ...

Quilts of Valor Progress from From My Carolina Home

Last week, I finished the first Quilt of Valor. It took just two days to get it quilted with the star and swirl pantograph called Blue Star. I removed it from the longarm and spread it out on the floor to check the stitching and take a photo.

Next was to trim it, and make the binding. I put this on by machine this time, as time is of the essence right now. I sew the binding to the back, then fold to the front and topstitch.

I used the same light blue background star print as the print sections ...

Botanical Beauty block #7 from Nestlings By Robin

Welcome back for block 7, Laurel Wreaths.

You will make 2 of these this month.

Laurel leaves were part of my WLL quilt along
back in 2020 and HERE is the blog post
about the original quilt.

Since then, I have been playing with
other layouts. This is one of the layouts
that I have put into repeat as a fabric
design too for that exciting someday...:)

The symbolic history of the laurel is one of
triumph and achievement since the
original Greek Olympics and you
can read more about that HERE if you choose.

I find it a nice ...

Sester centennial quilt along: Botanical Beauty block #5 from Nestlings By Robin

Welcome to block #5, Tulip Star.
I designed this block about 10 years
ago and planned to do it in red, white, and green.

Here is the center of the original.

It is soooo close to done:) and instead
of finishing it, I have created a
small wall hanging pattern and
now included it in my Botanical Beauty Sampler.
It has been enlarged and shrunk down
depending on my feelings for that project.

I am loving the red, white, and blue!!
So, now imagine making multiples of
this block and setting them together
as shown above.
What a gorgeous patriotic ...

brevity is not my strong suit . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

This is going to be (relatively) short and sweet . . . I'm still in the wilds of Yellowstone, having a wonderful time with my daughter and her family!

I did manage to work out my next 3-yard quilt before I left. Fabric Cafe has a new pattern book out and it's BIG Block 3-Yard Quilts . . . for those quilts where you love a fabric so much, you want good chunks of it in your quilt!
I chose this design, "Felicity" . . .
And these three fabrics . . .
I'm sure you can work out what's going to go where!  I'll plan on ...

floss crossing ahead . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

It's been a very stitch-intensive week!  I probably should've/could've been working on a 3-yard quilt, but I'm heading to Yellowstone this week and didn't want to leave a project in the making.  So instead I headed to my wool stash to kit the patriotic project I shared last week.  But I got distracted when I found this cute patriotic mini-Quaker cross stitch kit I'd ordered last year.  Squirrel!
So I got busy.  Two days and two audio books later . . .
Yay!  It's pinned up (for now) next to this finish (another patriotic Quaker ...

Happy 4th! from From My Carolina Home

Has it gotten hot where you are? This weekend we hit 90 for the first time this summer, way too hot for me! Still, it is better than some in the heartland and southwest are enduring. Lucky for us, the mountains do cool off at night, so the mornings are quite comfortable, as are the late evenings when the sun is going down. It is going to be a scorcher today, at least by our standards, so I set a table inside for our holiday meal. We’ll still cookout, but eat inside where it is less humid. I pulled ...
