Systemic decluttering from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my -- there's so much to say and so little time! But I'm happy to report that the one writing assignment is done! But there are still two patterns to write, and another huge writing assignment is looming. And a few quilts need quilting, but I might take today just for me! Well, more of the day than I usually would. I have some essential shopping ahead of me, and if I don't get it done soon, I will be in big trouble. More on that another day.

I also feel like crap this morning as I ...

Hunting rabbits from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Rest assured, no rabbits were hurt in this incident - at least not to my knowledge! I mentioned yesterday that the girls were on the hunt for a rabbit under the gazebo. I have no objection to rabbits, but could they live OUTSIDE of my yard where the dogs can't use them to hone their hunting skills?

I let the girls out earlier than usual yesterday as I was going to be away in the morning. They got on the scent of this rabbit, and well, like a dog with a bone, they would NOT give up. Fortunately, they were ...

Success for decluttering from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I won't say I'm obsessed (OK -- just a little bit), but I think I may have found a solution to help me stick to decluttering.

Now that the space in Studio U is wide open - loads of flat surfaces, a cheery color in the room, and plenty of light from that huge window, I feel this is the ideal spot for the decluttering process to continue. Slow and steady will win this race, but the space is inviting to work in.

So I did a "bad" thing. I made 6 trips upstairs with some of the junk that ...

How much is too much? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

How much time does one want to spend managing their stuff, or if I tell you how I really feel -- the crap accumulated over the years. For those of you that never let it collect -- I applaud you, but WHERE were you years ago when I needed someone to tell me NOT to buy so much. See how easy it is to pass the blame on to someone else! Sorry for that! NO -- I take full responsibility for the mess I created and take 100% responsibility for cleaning it up!

It doesn't matter what's happened in the past ...

Cutting it close! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Well, that was a bit too close for comfort. Don't worry - there was never any danger of bodily harm - just barely enough time to finish my audiobook before it vanished. While I love not having to return a library book, you have ZERO forgiveness with the audiobooks. When its time is up -- it's UP!

Look what I mean.

See how much time I have before the book is due to be returned  -- a mere 48 minutes. I'm at 95%, so how much is left to listen to?

TWENTY-SEVEN minutes. I CAN do this! And I did.

I ...

Happy Canada Day!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Happy Canada Day!!

It already looks dull and dark outside, and it's only July 1, a mere 10 days after the Summer Solstice. But it's overcast and no sun! I hope everyone is enjoying the weather, as it's been glorious here the last couple of days.

So I did something a bit different yesterday. I've been walking for all my errands within a couple of KM of the house. I had to pick up meds for the dogs, which is a bit too far for me to walk. I had two choices - I could get in ...

Working through fatigue from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I survived the day, but not without a couple of laughs. I had been texting one of my colleagues in the morning, and we were both saying that we didn't want to talk to anyone, especially each other! Then my SIL, who doesn't live close but is here because MIL had her second knee done, stopped by, and guess what? I had to talk!

I tried to have an extra nap in the morning, but the cleaning lady came, so that wasn't going to work! It was just one of those days! But I did end up ...

Meet me at Q from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

 I'm HOME!!!!!!!

There's no place like home, even though I've barely had any sleep. It doesn't matter; I'll be having a BIG long nap this afternoon.

So that wasp stung me the night before, and other than the initial bite, it was fine. But now the blasted thing is itchy. And it's probably too late for AfterBite to do much good because it's still itchy after some liberal application of the stuff!

And why is my e-mail not updating so I can download some pictures for you? I've rebooted the computer and ...

Buried in junk! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my goodness  -- I don't know what was wrong with me yesterday, but when I woke up, it was like I was paralyzed. I lay in bed for a long time, dozed on and off, and couldn't bring myself to get out of bed. And this vertigo is a pain, but as Elle mentioned, it could very well be a sign of dehydration which I strongly suspect.

I'm feeling much better today, so that's a good thing.

So if you are traveling and need to rent a car, you are in for a shock. In the ...

The declutter shuffle from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Just got a tip for moving rather than copying files. I'll check that out later today. It's super important to be MOVING files and NOT copying -- otherwise, you end up in a huge mess which is partially the problem I have with some of those photos.

This is the status of my new hard drive. It's the D Drive in the photo, and it's almost 75% full - of PHOTOS. That's so silly, and I hope to make good headway in deleting want I don't want or need and then keep it neat and tidy ...

Letting go of the clutter from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW --- each day at my house brings something new. No two days are alike, as I'm sure is the case at your house. But when the totally unexpected happens, and it's a good thing, the world needs to know about it.

Like most new quilters (or even the more experienced), you buy fabric because you like it and it's precious. So precious that you can't even cut into it, but then you get to a point when you realize that it's OK to cut into that precious stuff. And how many of you have said ...

I will CONQUER the paper, one box at a time from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW --- I'm so excited that I'm not alone in this "fight" against junk! Well, I'm not excited that you all have junk to get rid of, but I'm excited that I'm not alone and that we are all supporting each other. The job is so large that we all need each other's support. Until your brain can reach the tipping point where you are committed to making it happen, we need the help of others to get there.

Once there, we need the drive to keep going. In the past, I've been bad ...

You can walk, but can you hike? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

What happened to the box of stuff? I had other things going on in the day, but I did gravitate back to the box from time to time. However, I had done my gardening (more on that tomorrow), and it was getting late, and I was NOT done with the box of crap for the day. I DID NOT go to bed. Instead I got out the box, and I emptied it. YES, I DID, and I'm pretty proud of that fact.

A few more things went into the box to be reviewed in more detail later. This is ...

Empty that box! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another box of crap bites the dust! And I was done by NOON. I was actually excited about the prospect of getting rid of the stuff. And before I knew it, the box was full again. I was tempted to keep working, but I had other things on the agenda, and I didn't want to exhaust myself with this task. But now I'm eyeing the table in the office and guestimating the number of boxes it'll take to clear it! I'm not out of the woods yet, but let's see what we can do.

Here ...

Overwhelmed with stuff! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I am a Virgo, and we are neat and tidy creatures by nature. OH MY --- while I don't seriously believe in the horoscope thing, this description of a Virgo is uncannily me. I wouldn't bother reading it unless you are a Virgo, but it explains a lot. Maybe I should believe in astrology a little bit more.

It doesn't really talk about neat and tidy, but I used to be.

Here's a story from the past about magazines. I remember the day when I became obsessed with magazines and how they got out of control. I ...

It's tidy up time! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Am I the only one experiencing this issue with my phone?? Hello? Is anyone else out there? I submitted a claim yesterday, and we'll see how quickly they move. In the meantime, I will NO LONGER be answering my phone. It's just too frustrating to have a conversation with anyone, and you will have to get in touch by text or e-mail.

While I didn't get a chance to watch all the pomp and circumstance of the Queen's Jubilee yesterday, I watched some of the replays. I swear that Prince Louis stole the show. His facial ...

A NEW retreat house from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm not even sure where to start. Yesterday was a whirlwind day - yet again! How the heck does that happen?

The two classes went perfectly as they should as I was prepared; however, I realized that not only did I not like the fabric that I had put on one block -- one of the components was turned around. No wonder I didn't like it! Once I make the new block - I'll share it with you.

My presentation on HSTs went very well, and I squeezed a bit of picture taking between the classes and when I had ...

Friends are good for the soul from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I love that we all have the same interests! Recommending books to each other is so much fun, and I have to say that you have introduced me to some new authors, and I've returned the favor! It's been a  bit of an eye-opener, to say the least. I would be stuck with the same author's over and over again!

And thanks to everyone for your comments -- I need to get some time to acknowledge them because I read them all and love the feedback!

Speaking of antiques - I saw Judy has donated the last box of ...

A Jen Kingwell love affair from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH -- I have to get back to responding to the comments!! Someone is also reading The End of Her. I finished it while walking the dogs, and well -- I don't want to say what happened, but I was a bit surprised. That's all I'm going to say! This is NOT the sort of book they talk about in a book club, but I want to discuss this with someone!

I've started another book -- Looking for Jane by Heather Marshal. Someone recommended it to me. OH my -- what a fantastic premise. Who dreams up this stuff? I ...

Murphy's Bed from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Tick tock -- the clock is ticking, and while I'm making progress, I don't seem to be working very fast or accomplishing much. Oh well --- it'll all get done sometime! Well, that's not true --- it's just that there is so much that what little I get done doesn't seem to make a dent. We're all in that same boat!

However, a piece of good news -- I found a home for that last tub. That means ALL the tubs are off the floor - well, the main studio floor that is, and they have a home ...
