Living Day to Day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I hate to say that I'm living this week from day to day, but I am. There's so much going on and still lots to prep and fit in some writing that I can't focus beyond the current day. Today is a bit of a wild card. Why? I have NO presentations. Well, that's not true. I do have a presentation, but it's IN-PERSON! Now, how weird is that?

I'm at the Stratford Quilter's Guild, but I'm unsure if they are taking guests. I had to go through the quilt collection yesterday ...

It's all about the numbers from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I do not want to say that I'm motivated by numbers, but it's nice to check your progress to know that you're on track. Like the virtual challenges - we get to see our progress on the map and see the progress by the numbers.

Yesterday our group of four passed the 50% mark of our Virtual walk across Canada. I think that's pretty impressive as we are NOT runners, we are not athletes - we're just ordinary people. A HUGE thank you to Shelly, Helen Anne, and Nancy for walking along with me. Think about it ...

One day at a time........................ from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I had the best day ever! And then I had the most fantastic sleep. I will say that I almost didn't make dinner. I tried to get some computer work in before dinner, but I was fading fast due to my late-night reading the previous night. So I was in bed shortly after dinner and slept through the night! Yeah!

As you know, I'm doing some virtual walking challenges, and I follow the group on Facebook. Some fantastic stores get posted - how people have used the challenges to help them kick an addiction, lost weight, and got motivated ...

The Escape from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So before I knew that my schedule was going to get super crazy this month, I had booked a couple of days off. It's time to get back to the real world of sewing in person, and that's what we did. We were v16 yesterday, and today we are 15 or something like that.

Where did we disappear to? K&A Quilt Studio in Ingersoll has a giant classroom, and that's where we are! It was loads of fun, and I don't think I managed to get a whole lot done. But there's a reason ...

Bonnie and Camille Show and Tell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Gosh -- it's almost time for the final reveal, and I haven't shared the last set of blocks with you for Bonnie and Camille!

I love these ongoing groups, and I've learned so much from all the people in them, and I've met a whole lot of new friends! The new classes should be coming out soon - I'm a little pressed for time this week, as I have a mini-retreat to attend!

However, that didn't stop me from watching a silly reality show yesterday. I was reading the local paper, and one of the contestants ...

Not to be critical.................. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Well, I had a first yesterday, and I got a chuckle out of it! I've presented to hundreds of people over Zoom over the last year and a half. There have been issues - mostly where and how to use the mic and the camera. Yesterday was a first, though!

Last night, I had a person arrive on the call right when it opened. I always open one-half hour early so people can get connected and ask questions, etc. This person starts out, "I don't want to be critical, but ...." and you think - OK -- where is this going? It ...

Geocaching from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

There are some quilting components to the blog today, but you'll have to wait for them. I need to show you that I do other things than declutter my house and quilt!

When I decided to do a geocache for fun in August, I got hooked on this challenge. Yes -- challenges seem to be my thing, and it was all for a virtual badge! In this case, you have to collect so many points each month that is the equivalent of the height of the highest mountain on one of the seven continents. Yep - I was hooked. Month three ...

One step at a time from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Well, I have to say that my clean desk is actually making me more productive! But we all knew that it would. Who am I trying to kid that having a messy desk is an effective way to work? The same thing with the cutting table -- if it's piled high with stuff, who can work there? New and better habits are forming, and I LOVE it.

So I was responding to e-mails (still a "few" more to deal with), buying tickets (going to a movie tonight!), ordering stuff (necessary for the business), and paying a bill or two. I ...

Cleaning up! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I've been whining about my cutting table and how I can't seem to get it completely clear. Well, I've been whittling away at it, and this is what it looks like. Well, I should say, this is what it looked like last night. It looks even better this morning.

The cutting table

The nice thing is that's it now only ONE layer that covers it! I hope you notice how much of the cutting mats we can see! Not a bunch of stuff stacked up. I'm going to keep whittling away and try to get ...

Quilt backings from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Those darn pictures arrived in my inbox about an hour late. That rarely happens! Oh well, you know me and technology - some days I'm smoking, and other days, I'm cold.

Let's start with the missing photos from yesterday!

Here are the running shoes and the ones on the left - the old ones look in excellent shape - slightly dirty, but in good condition.

The old and the new

However, look at the bottoms! They are pretty worn - as a matter of fact, they are totally worn out. That was three months' worth of walking, so about 1,000 ...

Virtual Walking from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I was going to mention that I didn't get much done yesterday, but then I thought about it, and I'll just keep my mouth quiet about that.

I know some people had trouble finding Facebook Live. I was following along on my iPad, and it popped up the moment we hit the Live button. There was a minor issue, and it wasn't scheduled as an event, but it should have been Live right at the QUILTsocial link.

BUT before we got there, I had a wee technical issue. We had tested everything the day before. And everything ...

A wee road trip! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another great day! OK -- every day is a great day - it just depends on how you look at it. Positivity is a good thing even though stupid things are happening in the world and around me, but I'm in a very fortunate position, so I really can't complain.

The only thing I have is a TON of work, and it all needs to be done now. Computer work and sewing and quilting. When I woke up this morning, I just allowed myself to lay in bed contemplating it all but didn't get up! Well, not right away ...

Milestones from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Is it the weekend yet? Life seems to be a bit of a treadmill at the moment, although the two French presentations for this week are done! Those are my big stress points these days. I do rehearse them completely and look up any words that I'm sure about, but still! It's one thing to be rehearsing and quite another to live with the group for one hour. I also open the call a half-hour before, and I answer questions then. So that much French late in the day for me - well, it's working out OK, but ...

Zoom, zoom, zoom from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was a bit of an intense day. Lots of Zoom and more frustration with UPS.

I'm beyond frustrated with UPS. After another lengthy conversation and being on hold several times, the conclusion is that customs is sitting on the package. Of course, they are off for the weekend, so nothing will happen until Monday morning at the earliest. I've spoken to a supervisor who wasn't really any more helpful than the CSRs. I'm supposed to get a call from the brokers on Monday morning. Let's pray - a LOT.

Yep -- I could definitely have walked ...

Behind the times from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Well, I'm behind in the news! But here's the latest update on the situation for the Quilt Market/Quilt Festival in Houston in October. It was announced last night that the FALL Quilt MARKET would be postponed. Hmm -- what does postponed mean? Well, when they say the next one is scheduled for spring in Salt Lake City, that basically means that it's canceled. I'm not sure why they didn't just come out and say that.

However, the same e-mail states that Quilt FESTIVAL is still going ahead. So it's OK to close the smaller ...

Published! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my --- I should check the source of my photos before I post them! That photo of the quilt on the runway? According to M in a conversation later in the day -- that was the MOST FAMOUS couple in the world at the moment. OH  -- I could sit beside the most popular person in the world on a plane and not even realize. That's how much I don't really care about celebrities. They are people just like us, and really - do they deserve more attention? I don't have time!

Here's a link for the Met Gala ...

Could you cut up a quilt? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my goodness -- I'm a MOUTH breather at the gym. I was huffing and puffing on the spin bike, then I realized I was gasping for air. OK -- I'm exaggerating. I'm not gasping, but I definitely breathe with my mouth open. I tried to breathe through my nose. Yikes -- that was hard! Even when I was not at maximum effort. That's going to take a bit of getting used to.

It just goes to show that we are so not conscious of how we breathe. And I swear that spin class is a killer. I'm ...

Virtual Quilt Challenge from Virtual Quilter

Pick 2 pieced blocks, and one applique block … and start playing. I have played with the applique block by turning the applique design to a straight setting within the block … and the blocks can become quilting motifs … but that is the limit of the changes I have made.

Very restrained rules for me!

If you don’t like your first colour choices, try again, and again, but keep the blocks within the limits. I have managed to stick with my first colour choices by basing the fabrics on the multi coloured fabric in the border, and then matching fabrics to ...

Keeping fit - Virtually! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm all set -- I finished the Appalachian Trail and confirmed the address for my medal. I started the Pacific Crest Trail. Why not just dive right in? While I will always walk the dogs in the morning, there are some days when I wonder if I need that second walk. But the aggressive goals I've set for the virtual challenges get me off my butt and onto the road.

And here's the thing -- while it's called a Virtual Challenge, I still have to WALK the miles to make that happen. It's not like I just ...

Cleaning up UFOs from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh dear -- I got in trouble AGAIN.

I saw my neighbor -you know the one, walking down the street towards me as I walked home with Murphy. I decided to say "Good morning" as I do to so many people that I pass along the street. HEY -- for some people, it might be the only interaction with someone else during the day. And it's fun as we've got to "know" others in the neighborhood.

I must admit that I said "good morning" rather enthusiastically to her as we passed, and I did add on "neighbor", as the last ...
