Advent Calendars and Tortilla Warmers from Grandma's Red Needle

Where on earth did the first part of 2019 go?! I'm sure someone stole it, as one said!

I'm busy as ever and determined to finish some Advent Calendars

Over the last days I have quilted, added pockets and sleeve to four of these. I have one left to do, I ran out of fabric for the back! UGH! More on the way, expected to arrive end of July.

There are 24 single small pockets, measuring 2 x 2 inches. They are tedious to add and I must say I was relieved when all 96 pockets ...

Quiltsy Team Scrappy Spring Challenge and more from Grandma's Red Needle

'Winter' is definitely here to stay. Cooler days and nights, which I love, but still.... BRRRR! The change in weather has caused my sinus infection to flare up again; blocked nose, sinus headache and not feeling well enough to do much. I'm one of those who can't sit still, I have kept myself busy sewing, which include rests on the couch and hot chocolate to drink. Good thing I'm feeling better today.

The best way to keep my fingers warm is to get busy and sew. A couple of items make me sew excited and I wish ...

Going Patriotic and Christmas from Grandma's Red Needle

To all Norwegians worldwide:

The last two weeks have been very busy. I've been out of the house almost every day, running errands here and there and only had time for sewing in the late afternoons / evenings.

The Patriotic Mug Rugs in our shop sold out and I made a few new. For the back, I chose a red fabric with tiny flowers instead of the mottled flag red I've used earlier.

I thought I was done with Patriotic quilts for awhile, but after searching the net for ...

Patriotic Table Runners and WIPs from Grandma's Red Needle

It's Sunday again, two weeks into April already. Where did this week go?!
Rain and thunderstorms today and Meteo has issued 'heavy rain warning' until tomorrow morning. No venture out in this weather and what is better than sew?! :)

The Norwegian National Day - May 17th - is approaching.

I have a few patriotic quilted items in our Etsy Shop and after selling one table runner last weekend, I've been busy making two more.

I had some fabric left of this fun navy blue striped ribbons and made a variation of the ...

Busy Quilting Week from Grandma's Red Needle

It's Palm Sunday, it's Easter, how did that happen? It feels like New Year's Eve was yesterday, doesn't it?! How are you going to spend the Easter days? For us it will be just normal days, nothing special.

What have you been up to the last week? I have spent quite some time sewing and happy to say I have some finishes, even a UFO! :) So where do I start?

I think I'd better start with a UFO where I'd love to hear your opinion, please.
I've been working on this UFO off ...

Another Red and White Lap Quilt and some Small Items from Grandma's Red Needle

Yesterday was Sunday and 'blog day', but I was too pooped last night to even write a single word. Early Monday morning, cuppa in hand and here we go! :)

In my previous blog post, I had started working on some mug rugs, finished one as well as a couple of trivets. Monday came and the plan was to hand sew binding on the table runners that have multiplied lately. The goal was to do one each day for one week and they should be done. That never happened, except one small table topper. Progress! Haha!

I got carried away with ...

It's Sunday.... from Grandma's Red Needle

... and time for a new blog post!

What have you been up to this week? Have you finished any items or perhaps some UFO's?
I've been working on several items and actually have a few finishes.

Did you know 'Pantone Color of the Year 2018' is Ultra Violet?
Before I started quilting, there were colors I didn't like at all and one of them were purple in all shades from light to dark. Gradually I began to like purple and I have made a few items in different shades of purple.
I had a beautiful fabric depicting ...

Progress on a Custom Order and more from Grandma's Red Needle

It's Sunday again, a hot and humid afternoon here in Mauritius.
The rainy- and cyclone season. We had some nice, cool rainy days, but now the heat is here again. I hate this time of the year! Can't wait for April when it starts to cool down a bit!

I have accomplished quite a lot this week and I'm happy with the progress on a custom order that actually is a UFO.
Last year, I made several items to a customer in Canada. She loves red and white and this time the order was several items made ...

WIP's and UFO's from Grandma's Red Needle

What have you been up to lately? Any progress on WIP's or UFO's? New ideas?

The heat, rain and humidity this time of the year makes me unwell. I don't take this climate very well and I don't venture out unless I have to. Some days ago I made the 'mistake' by going to the Custom in Port Louis to pick up a parcel. It was the day before two public holidays and the motorway was packed, long lines at the Custom, and even crazy shoppers at the supermarket (as if there were NO days ...
