Floral Fusion and hand-stitching on Free Motion Mavericks
from Quilting & Learning
Hi and welcome! The daylight is getting shorter, the nights are cooler and I'm a very happy stitcher. I've been spending lots of time in my backyard - a little bit of gardening but mostly enjoying the wildlife and stitching quietly. This is what I envisioned retirement to be.

International Dog Day and Free Motion Mavericks
from Quilting & Learning
Hi and welcome! Monday was International Dog Day and Susan is holding her annual party. I've been making scrappy mats and since I'm addicted, I thought that I'd make a mat to fit under Poppy's water bowl so that she could appreciate it when she visits.

Hi and welcome! I'm still working on my Tibetan Appliqué piece. I'll show you an update at the end of the post. I just need to add the borders and do the free motion quilting (FMQ). I'll be taking my time on the quilting because I love the quilt and really want to make it proud.

"Enjoying Alaska" on Free Motion Mavericks
from Quilting & Learning
Hi and welcome. It's been a busy and very hot week here. Other than taking Poppy out for short walks, I've been staying indoors (estivating) where it's cool. When there is humidex in the middle of the night, you know that it's hot!

Mosquito proofing on Free Motion Mavericks
from Quilting & Learning
Hi and welcome! I've been so busy getting ready for our Outdoor Exhibition that I haven't done much else. Although I would love to play in the garden, it's been hot and humid, and now raining. I may as well do a little bit of stitching between reading books.

Alaska and a Quilt Show on Free Motion Mavericks
from Quilting & Learning
Hi and welcome! I'm back after a week away. Alaska was gorgeous but I caught a cold - so I've been resting to be ready to volunteer at our Quilt Show tomorrow.
Alaska Wonders
Here are just a few highlights. The best part by far was a trip to the Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary and Totem Park, outside of Ketchikan. We did see a mama black bear across the river!

Mixture of Sun and Clouds on Free Motion Mavericks
from Quilting & Learning
Hello! I hope that Spring has found you and that you have a little sunshine in your days. We've had lots of clouds and rain, but I've been busy making my own Suns and clouds in the studio, getting the second part of my Outdoor Hanging Sculpture ready.
Finished Suns
The three Suns are ready - there's Sunrise, Noon Sun and Sunset. They were finished so I hung them out in the back yard to see how they would do.

Hi and welcome to week 581 of Free Motion Mavericks.
Fibre Fling finds
Last Friday and Saturday was the Out of the Box (OOTB) Fibre Artists' Fibre Fling 2024. I was there for most of the two days, spending my time at the Membership table. I had a chance to meet with fellow members, potential members and see all of the wonderful work of these very talented artists.
If you didn't see it, here are my two pieces at the show.
