Chasing squirrels from The Academic Quilter

Well, hello everyone! Been a couple of weeks, hasn't it? Sometimes life is more complicated than we want it to be, and really, I would swear it's only November first. Wasn't Halloween yesterday? In the last couple of weeks, I pieced a queen-sized quilt (which is a Christmas present, so it will be shown in January), visited a quilty friend, worked more than I can say, had about 50,000 meetings, and also managed to sleep a little. And, hey, the furniture that we ordered in April finally came! So if I need a nap, there's ...

Twisting and turning from The Academic Quilter

Hi everyone! How are you all? Thanks so much for your good wishes about my foot last week. It is doing much, much better, thanks. Turns out that if you actually sit down and put your feet up like you're supposed to, your foot gets better. Who knew?

So I was able to get down to the sewing room this week, and while I was down there, I finished piecing together the Snail's Trail quilt top. Yay me! Here she is:

Yahoo! If you recall, this top is made entirely of scraps from my very full blue and ...

Challenge met from The Academic Quilter

Hi everyone, and welcome to December, the last month of this wretched year. Has winter arrived in your area? I understand many places have had snow. We haven't had snow, but we did have a lot of rain and it's gotten a good bit chillier. I am not up for this, I have to confess. It seems like the cold is just 2020 piling on. I really dislike beaches (sand is just dirt, you know) but for maybe the first time ever I feel like a beach would be a good idea. This year has definitely turned everything ...

Neon and Neutral from Jean's Quilting Page

Neon and Neutral

As you might have noticed, I've spent some time recently playing with lights/darks using a range of gray - black in my scrappy stash blocks. I started collecting those so that I could make this Neon and Neutral quilt.

The idea of using a varying amount of grays- black fabrics intrigued me. I made half square triangles in lighter/darker combos. Some of the medium tones were used as both a light and a dark. It's all about the contrast. I wanted to frame them in bright colors, hence the name. I was excited about ...

More quilted gifts, an OMG and a Christmas runner from Quilting & Learning

I can't believe that I've got so many posts this month! I've been busy finishing up my two Christmas gifts. Actually there was supposed to be one, but a squirrel came for a visit!

More quilted gifts

My December One Monthly Goal (OMG) was another free motion quilted (FMQ) fabric basket. I used some incredibly lovely Japanese fabric for the FMQ.

The light was at its best outside on the snow :-)

I took an indoor shot the next day
I also created another journal cover. Unfortunately I misread my notes and didn't cut the fabric big ...

An Epic Bow Tie Neutral Quilt Finish from Quilting & Learning

I'm almost glad that it was raining today because I found the best place ever for the Epic Bow Tie Neutral Quilt's photo shoot!

These were taken this morning at Parks Canada Place in Gatineau Quebec. I was lucky that it was decorated for Christmas and fairly quiet.

Are we ready for Christmas yet?
Enjoying the decorations - do I spy a reindeer?

Finally we need to have the full view shot.

FMQ a neutral quilt on Free Motion Mavericks from Quilting & Learning

Welcome to week 254 of Free Motion Mavericks. I'm very glad that you dropped by.

FMQ the Epic Neutral Bow Tie Quilt

You've seen this quilt a few times over the last year and the end is in sight. I'm just going to show you the free motion quilting (FMQ) that I've done so far. The final reveal will be before the end of the month since this is my One Monthly Goal (OMG) for November and I'm determined that it will be finished.

Scrappy Neutral Quilt For A Master Bedroom from Studio Dragonfly Quilts

It is rare for me to make a quilt for a specific purpose in our home. I have wanted a new quilt for my bed for as long as I can remember. There is an old family quilt that has been on our bed in the winter for a number of years and this new quilt is a bigger, neutral version of that quilt.

Here's an old, blurry picture I found of the inspiration quilt. This quilt was made by my grandmother or great grandmother. There are some awesome fabrics in this old quilt.

And here it is on ...
