December Challenge and Blog Hop from Sew Preeti Quilts

I firmly believe that anyone who has a voice can sing. Whether their singing is pleasant to hear or not is another story altogether.  Similarly, I can make a quilt with any group of colors. Will that grouping be aesthetically appealing? That depends on the design.

December Challenge!

Four times a year when the challenge is combined with a blog hop, we the Island Batik ambassadors are required to use one of the new fabric collections, assigned to us. Further we are directed to use as many fabrics (from the collection) as possible.

I was assigned the Chickadee Fabric Collection ...

Diamond tries from The Academic Quilter

Hello everyone. How is your week going? We are in full swing at school now and it's going okay, I must say. Everyone has their masks and we're all being careful. I just wish it was a little warmer so we could open the windows. It's been quite cold, at least by East coast standards, and overcast, though not actually snowing. I'm okay with that, but I do want some natural ventilation in that room.

I'm just popping in for a little bit today to share the next round of the Stay at Home Round ...

Triple Play! Pieced Sashing from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

Pieced Sashing Triple Play with Natalie, Jenny, and Misty.

It started like any other Triple Play tutorial.

Jenny, Misty, and Natalie were each asked to design a quilt with pieced sashing. Simple, right?

Natalie created a cute arrow sashing with strip sets and hourglass blocks.

Misty’s Pieced Sashing

Misty used a traditional Seminole technique to sash her quilt with diamonds. And then, there was Jenny. (Oh, Jenny!)

First, Jenny stitched stacks and stacks (and STACKS!) of half-square triangles. Then the sashing began.

She made pinwheel, chevron, and herringbone sashing. She made flying geese, square-in-a-square, and sawtooth. And then…she kept ...

Diamond Surprise and Plant Surprise from Art In Search

The second quilt to turn into a comfort quilt from Julie was the one that Julie tells the story of on this link. It was made by Lynne Tyler of The Patchery Menagerie. She sent it to Julie as a trade for her quilt named Partly Sunny.
After taking it out of the box, I put it on the wall and drooled over the fabrics. Oh my, what florals. I thought it needed to be just a tad longer in proportion to its width. After raiding my floral stash in the cupboard (and making a huge mess), I chose three ...

Shining in the cold from The Academic Quilter

Hi everyone. How are you all today? I am happy to say that it is getting slightly warmer and today was full of sunshine. Hurray! There may even be a hint of green out there. Hurray! I was inside most of the day, except for a walk before it warmed up, but thankfully there are windows, and it. was. lovely. Sunshine just makes you happy, you know?

Today I have a very small top to show, but it's also lovely and somewhat complicated. Here she is (yes, quilts are "she"):

I told you it was really pretty!

A few ...

Diamond Star Quilts - Book Review + Giveaway from Sew Preeti Quilts

For some time I had this voice inside me goading me, chiding me.
Shouldn't you try something more advanced?
Isn't it time to add to your skills?
How about attempting something that actually challenges you?

And every time I banished it. Shoo away.
It was comfortable. I am enjoying the popularity of the sisters, basking in the adulation of the Picket Star Blocks and relishing the warmth of comments for Mercyful Quilts.

Then I got an email. The voice had evolved. It was harder to ignore.
Barbara Cline asked me if I'd be interested in reviewing her ...
