RSC Week 12 - GREEN Flimsy and Pieced Backing from Grandma's Red Needle

It has been another busy GREEN week.
My goal this month has been to use as much green fabric from my stash as possible, and I think I have succeeded, IMO. Last week I had made 48 scrappy Churn Dash blocks for the green scrappy quilt and made a couple of crumb blocks for the pieced backing (here).

A flimsy!!!

To get a better variety of green, I pulled out what I had of 5" squares in green. Not that it was that many, but fabric used is a good thing, isn't it? :)

It didn't take long piecing ...

Quilt Your City on Pillows from Gefilte Quilt

Out of wall space? How about making some quilted pillows?

I might not have thought of this, if I hadn't been asked. A neighbor saw my pandemic porch quilt show (the subject of my last several blog posts), and commissioned me to make four 18" pillows, including two with scenes from our town, South Pasadena, which is part of Los Angeles. We negotiated a price and a backing color - grey - and I was off. It took about two weeks, and here they are.

The first one in the lineup above represents the town's Gold Line MTA Train crossing ...

Eat Chocolate, Drink Coffee. English Paper Piece the Trash into Holiday Decor from Gefilte Quilt

It is not an exaggeration to say that English Paper Piecing (EPP) is one of the most addictive quilt-related activities I've ever undertaken. It wasn't enough for me to do EPP with fabric, first to make quilts, and then to stitch polyhedra.

But then, a couple of years ago, after my DH caved to supermarket displays (always blame the DH!) and bought a bag of Lindt Truffles (no financial affiliation!) I found myself fascinated by the wrappers.  One thing led to another...at parties, I started following people around to collect their wrappers....and here are tutorials for ...

Reason #1 from Nestlings By Robin

MUSH BRAIN!

I can't be the only one who suffers
from 'mush brain'!
You know the feeling when you go to
bed the night before and visions of your
planned awesomeness-for-tomorrow dance
in your head; but then, tomorrow morning
comes and you know there just won't be
enough coffee to energize that brain.

My work deadline/travel schedule this past
4 months have had me coming and going
with mostly 2-3 day turnarounds at my home.
This means that now that I am home,
my brain has gone on strike but
the work deadlines aren't done ...
