Augie the Daredevil from From the Strawberry Patch...

You see that brick ledge that extends underneath the screens on our back porch? It only measures about 6". Back a few weeks ago, when Dad was here, he was sitting out on the back patio enjoying an afternoon cup of coffee. Augie was with him, he always stays close, rarely wanders. The patio is located on the opposite side of the porch from what is pictured here. Dad was finishing up his coffee, I

The Past Few Weeks... from From the Strawberry Patch...

Consider this a catch-up post. I really do always have the best intentions of keeping up with this blog but, as we all know, life has a way of taking over. We did have a wonderful time with my Dad visiting here for three weeks before we headed back north with him at the beginning of the month. He especially enjoyed this copy of National Geographic from April 1928, his birth month and year; gifted

Wedges Gone Wild! from From the Strawberry Patch...

I know, it's been a while. I'm still here... still sewing up a storm. If you recall, from a former post, my latest obsession was the wedge block. Well, I'm still at it with this strip pieced variation. These wedges appear to be spinning out of control! This 16 block small wall quilt measures 28" square right now, I have plans for borders; we'll see how this progresses. Now, back to the scrappy

One Day At A Time from From the Strawberry Patch...

Its been a while, I know that. Time marches on, one day at a time, and before you know it a month (or more) has passed! Suffice it to say that the days have been busy ones, and it's all good. I'm going to hit the highlights with loads of photos here, simply as a way to catch up. It's good to be back! Augie is now two years old! That hardly seems possible. He was proud to receive a blessing from

Take A Seat... from From the Strawberry Patch...

...pull up a seat and settle in, I'll catch you up on the happenings around here; it's been a long time. In fact, to be honest, it's been so long that I wasn't even sure where to jump back in but decided that there's no time like the present. Back to school happens here next week (already!), those of you who've been readers here know that back to school means "nap blanket" time for the Pre-K

And That Wheel Keeps On Turning... from From the Strawberry Patch...

I don't know how many of you are "Wheel Watchers" and tuned in last Friday to hear Pat Sajak's final farewell to the game that he had hosted for 41 years! Yes; forty one years, 8,000 episodes, a HUGE feat! Beside that fact, I'd like to bring attention to his words of departure: he noted that Wheel of Fortune was "a safe place for family fun, no social issues, no politics, nothing embarrassing...

Wonderful World of Color* from From the Strawberry Patch...

It's a beautiful time of year right now, there's color everywhere. . .and the quilt blocks under the needle in the sewing room are no exception! I'm still plugging away on the Barn Star Sampler, playing catch up for time missed.I'm back at it again today, stitching blocks. It's hard, though, when I'm distracted by the wonderful world of color that surrounds me just outside the door. What

Summer Kick-Off from From the Strawberry Patch...

Well, now that Memorial Day has officially been observed; it's full speed ahead into summer. I'm ready! Having successfully navigated twice-a-week, post fracture, out patient physical therapy sessions I feel ready to tackle the world again! The therapist that I was assigned has been fabulous, he's young, motivated and extremely supportive of my desire to be fully healed, flexible and strong. He

Down Time from From the Strawberry Patch...

There was plenty of down time during our visit up north last week. Time spent visiting Mom in the care facility and waiting, there's lots of waiting time, needed to be filled. Even if the TV is on I have this need to be doing something. I read. I put binding on a quilt, and I cross stitched. It's always good to have something to show for time that has passed. My hands dislike idleness. This

Mother's Day from From the Strawberry Patch...

How did you spend your Mother's Day? We made a quick trip north to spend the day with my mother. As I've reported before, she's been having a tough time lately; health-wise. She's still in a care facility (as of today) and fighting as hard as she can to get back home again. Augie did what he could; he volunteered his services as a therapy dog.It must've worked because, after passing OT and PT
