I mentioned in the previous post about getting quilt tops bound and ready for finishing in front of the TV in the evenings. I thought I'd give you a little background on how I prep for that to make the task as easy as possible. First off, after attaching the binding by machine I roll the folded edge to the backside and hand baste(!) the binding into position (with a thread color that DOESN'T

Hmm—I had better check that date—but it's somewhere in that era. Perhaps I can ask Mom today because I probably know, but yet I don't know.
That house was heated with a wood kitchen stove and two oil burners—one in the living room and one in one of the bedrooms. There was no bathroom and no running water. I lived there ...

If you come to the show, on your way home, stop by the Johnson Family Farms produce stand on the corner of Kanuga and Erkwood. Right behind the stand is a big field planted with all kinds of vegetables. Talk about fresh from the field!
They have a section with homemade food items, baked goods and local honey.

read moreOh man - there are so many things this week on my To Do list. I don't even know where to begin. Some of those tasks involve projects that are on-going, but I have a couple of new things on the list too. And some things have nothing to do with sewing.
It's been a quiet week. We spent the weekend at my Mother's. Grad Girl was able to take a few days off to fit in a friend's graduation and Mother's Day. We had a pretty chill weekend, she's back in Texas and we're back home. I wasn't in my sewing room over the weekend, so I didn't quite get all my to do list for last week checked off.
To Do List for 5/7/2024
1. 2023 SAHRR: Prep back for quilting - no progress
2. Guild BOM: Assemble May block - progress ...
read moreThis is the view out my studio window from my computer chair. I bought a couple huge pots yesterday to plant tomatoes in. I used my 2 wheel cart to bring the 40 lb. bags of dirt around to the back and got both of them planted. There are a couple small pots there that don't have anything planted in them. I think I'll plant flower seeds in them.
It got up to a little over 80 degrees yesterday. I had a paper towel in my pocket to keep mopping my face so the sweat didn't run ... read more
It is always difficult to come up with make and takes or tutorials for our monthly guild meetings. Sometimes you don't even need something new. Last month I used Lori Holt's instructions to make a design board. I have done this demo multiple times before but there's always someone new in the group. I made this one with sparkly binding and it will be added to this month's raffle.
I saw that Kylie and The Machine had a free pattern for a scissors case which seemed like another good demo. I definitely need to practise my ...
