spoolin around was the second quiltville leader/ ender challenge in 2013. I was excited when I opened the ufo box, to see I had all the spool blocks (648) in blocks of 4, ready to assemble. But, oh wait, many of them were put together wrong. It matters if the blocks are all arranged the same LOL. I can't move on with this project unless, I take them all apart. I am having fun revisiting all these scraps from a few years ago. I did put together a few of the short rows with the correct blocks. I think ...

read moreI have been travelling with my Dear Jane again lately and after 3 attempts on attaching Row B to Row C, it is finally sewn correctly. For some reason, I couldn't seem to align B12 and C12 correctly and had to unpick twice. Happy that it is now fixed and my first 4 rows are fully assembled.
I can't add row E yet as I am missing 3 blocks E5, E9 and E13. I started on E5 [Rising Sun] on our recent trip to the UK and it is now finished, with the sashing and added to the ...
read moreI added more rows and now fractured squares is sewn together. I made it smaller than the free pattern. I like it, and, it was a good stash buster. I don't think I want to finish it right now. I have several higher priority quilts I am working to finish. I have more blocks that would easily make a cute baby quilt. But, that is for another day.

read moreI had a stack of leftover riley blake fabrics that coordinated rather well. I decided to cut another trip around the world donation quilt. I wanted to cut a bigger size than my last one. This time, I cut 4 inch strips. I want to see the difference. I was cleaning up a spot, and had this leftover pile waiting for an idea. I am not sure when I will start on it. But, the pile is gone.
I hope my reds are different enough |

I finished one of my 5 quilts a little bit ago, but, couldn't get it on the longarm. I think it is time to dig it out again, and, finish it for August's one monthly goal.
I blogged before about finding an older ufo that I had restarted to assemble. Fractured squares is a free pattern from quilted twins. I was able to finish all the blocks I needed.
I had a chance to assemble more of my rectangle wrangle quilt. It seems magical, as I add each row, and, see how the pattern emerges. There are a lot of seams that need matching, so, it is slower than my patience, sometimes. It is a big quilt, probably queen size, and very heavy. But I love it so far.
I am so excited. I have all the blocks done for rectangle wrangle, and, I have started to assemble the top. I think it is going to be a fun quilt to make. Other than playing with the blocks to see how they will look together, I am just sewing twosies.
My One monthly goal for July was to have all 84 blocks finished And, I have met the goal. yipee
I have also played with making the ohio star blocks for the border. I think I have made 4. They are small, and, I need 56 of them. I ...
read moreThis older block of the month is finally finished. Saturday soire is an older ufo from 2013. I added it to the 5 quilts list in April 2023. The 12 center blocks were already done, and, I had to make the 3 setting kits, and assemble the top. The setting kits were much more intense than I expected. I have only made two block of the months. This one does not disappoint. The fabrics are beautiful.

I have these drawers of hsts 2 1/2 inch- finish at 2 inch. Some times, I cut more than I need, or make more than I need. These drawers have been collecting for a long time. I really liked a recent Bonnie Hunter pattern called sugar grove, and, I thought that would be a great pattern to use these little treasures. I had fun digging through the hsts and making plans.
Fractured squares is a free pattern from quilted twins. I have had the pieces cut for awhile, now. I discovered it buried in a pile of UFOS. I decided to make sure it was all there, before, I put it away where it goes. All the pieces were not there. I cut a few more from scraps on the table, but, I was curious to see what it was like to make a block. um.... they were fun and quick. This UFO is not on my 5 quilt list, but, it might have caught my attention. - Might have. Most of ...
read morestrip tease pattern from sentimental stitches is a new project with my quilting buddy. I have bits and pieces for this for awhile. I showed it to Linda and she decided to join me getting this done. We both have the pattern and have started sewing the pieces. She is making hers in blues. I am doing all colors scrappy. I am cutting and making by color. I was sure I would be bored cutting it all or sewing it all, so, I do a few in each color and I am happy. I have done blue, red, green, and ...
read moreI have had this quilt idea on my design board for ages. Most of my latest 1 1/2 inch projects have all the 1 1/2 inch squares they are going to need. But, I am still left with a sizable mound of squares. I started working on this 9 patch on point block. It is scrappy fun. I also get to use my 4 1/2 inch scraps for the outside triangles.
I am sure when I clean a bit, I will find many more squares |

I am finally working on the downhill blocks for rectangle wrangle. All of the uphill blocks are finished. I think the remaining strips are a little ho hum, but, I will use them. Apparently, I have pulled out all my favorites. In such a busy quilt, they will fit just fine.
I didn't finish my june monthly goal but, I did add three ufo finishes for june and the PHD report
I have a finish for Friday. My trip a around the world baby quilt for charity is quilted and bound. I taught a workshop for this quilt for my guild.

you may remember I wrote this about my clarissa quilt.
I have a love/ hate relationship with Jen kingwell patterns. I fall in love with the quilts, but, agonize over the patterns and execution. My quilting buddies decided to make wensleydale found in kingwell's book. I started gathering scraps and colors for it. The templates and book was pricey, so I waited for a cheaper alternative. I ended up buying the paper piecing papers over the templates. But, I waited until I wanted to paper piece the blocks, which didn't happen. So, I bought the templates, anyway. They are fiddley to cut. My cut pieces don't match ...
read moreI tidied the 1 1/2 inch blue strips and separated light and dark. I pulled shorter pieces for 4 patches.
I went with quilty friends to an open sew, and, began putting pieces together for my Block of the month UFO Saturday soire.
