read moreI don't know about you, but all this decluttering and keeping things up to date is EXHAUSTING. I literally fall into bed shortly after dinner. I'm trying not to, but I'm tired! And that's a good thing - I'd rather go to bed tired than lie there unable to sleep.
I'm not a messy person by nature. I used to be super neat and tidy until M came along, and then my brain went to mush. This "new" philosophy of tidying and cleaning started well over ten years ago, but getting back on track is ...

read moreIt's so nice to have time without a looming deadline! I have loads to do, but with no deadline, I had a great visit with my colleague yesterday. Of course, that put me behind with the day's schedule, and only ONE piece of paperwork disappeared, so this morning will be devoted to paperwork.
However, loads still got accomplished once she left. I'm still working on the cutting table, which is like a revolving door. Something might get placed there, and it's gone within a day or two. This is its current state.

I'm excited about the announcement for this week's Project QUILTING challenge: A Novel Project. The one big rule is that our projects need to be inspired by a book we've read. Easy peasy! So many options. (I hope you'll consider playing along and making a quilt between now and Sunday!)
In the challenge theme announcement post Trish shared a number of her book inspired projects. It got me thinking about which quilts I have made inspired by books. Here's a wrap-up of those projects.

I'm following a Facebook group for the Camino, and some of the comments would blow your socks off. The one that took the cake was a British person who commented how RUDE it was for people to smoke around other people. I think she was referring to the locals you meet in the villages. And granted, it is a shock to sit in an open-air cafe in Paris and have the people next to you smoke. Ashtrays on every ...
read moreIt was an exciting morning. I was prepping to leave the house to walk Murphy, and I saw the ominous-looking clouds and grabbed an umbrella. Then I checked the weather app, and it didn't look like we'd get rain for at least an hour. So I left the umbrella in the house, and we were off.
BRRRR!!!! It was a tad chilly outside. Can you tell me how we went from HOT to cool overnight? I had shorts on but wasn't going back to change.
I stopped to take this picture of a beautiful tree in bloom ...

Another super day! Hey -- we have to look at each and every day with open eyes. We can choose to be sad or upset with events going on or choose to be happy. I CHOOSE to be happy!
I have a new class this afternoon on Color Theory! YES --- I'm so excited about the class, and I've spent a bit of time ripping the house apart looking for certain items. Most of it was in one spot, so that was good. But I cannot find one particular quilt.

read moreWe can’t believe that the school year is almost over. On one hand we weren’t sure how school was going to look and now we are almost ready to close the books for this school year.
To that end, we have been on the busier side of getting t-shirt quilts completed in time for graduations as well as handling end of the school year things. So to say our schedules are a little convoluted right now would be an understatement! Thankfully there are just a few days left and we can settle into the normal summer schedule.

read moreAs I was prepping the pictures for this morning, I wondered what title I should use for the blog post. I had just finished listening to Alex Anderson's "live" post from Wednesday morning. Oh boy -- people do NOT listen. She started a sew-along which I think is free to anyone. The pattern can be found on The Quilt Show webpage (top right-hand corner). It's only three pages, and there are kits - probably all gone by now. But any fabric would work.
So the first session was on cutting and prepping. How many people asked - can I do this ...

As a bonus, the book also includes 4 modern quilt patterns for you to make. They are:
#1 Grounded – I love how Heather explains her reasoning on why this quilt only has borders on 3 sides. At first you ...
