Humpty Dumpty cannot be put back together again from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH - it's a GOOD news day!! I'm thrilled to report that there are now only THREE pineapple blocks to complete. Yes -- I managed to get one done this morning. Now that I'm finished fiddling with the Long Time Gone quilt top, there's time to actually do other things! The remaining three blocks have all been started, so if I don't finish them at Monday sewing today - well - they need to be done!

One pineapple block - DONE

I might even get that last section together and into the quilt. Fingers crossed on that!!!

I got the ...

Breaking the rules from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm happy to report that the Long Time Gone is ALMOST done. All the little things I wanted to change are changed! All the sashing pieces that I need for the last section are cut and ready to sew in place. And Section 4 is together as much as it can be. The only thing left is those darn four pineapple blocks! That's going to have to wait until Monday sewing, which is tomorrow. And I see that more and more people are getting their tops together, minus the border as that is the class for next weekend ...

Now about that new car................... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

A day without frustrations is a good day indeed! So I didn't necessarily get as much work done as I needed to do - well as I wanted to do, but progress - it's all about progress!! OH -- I did have one SMALL issue when I couldn't find my presentation for yesterday's class. But it all worked out! It's good to be able to think fast on one's feet.

I'm happy to report that my Long Time Gone quilt is looking awesome. Sections 5 and 6 (the right-hand side) are now together. It's getting ...

How well do you listen? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

As I was prepping the pictures for this morning, I wondered what title I should use for the blog post. I had just finished listening to Alex Anderson's "live" post from Wednesday morning. Oh boy -- people do NOT listen. She started a sew-along which I think is free to anyone. The pattern can be found on The Quilt Show webpage (top right-hand corner). It's only three pages, and there are kits - probably all gone by now. But any fabric would work.

So the first session was on cutting and prepping. How many people asked - can I do this ...

Milestones from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So I would never be able to run a marathon - running just isn't in my genes or in my head. But I could ride my bicycle all day and be happy. But when you're in the long haul for something, like having to ride 100 miles in a day, you need milestones to get you there. You start to pay attention to the mile markers on the roadside. You watch the mileage signs as you approach the next town, you play games in your head, and so on.

Sometimes, it can seem that the miles go on forever ...

All is calm...................... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my god!!!!  I'm so excited! Can you believe that I'm feeling under control? The homework is mostly written and sent out. I forgot to include a couple of small things for one group, and it will get tidied up today. The sewing part of the homework is pretty much up-to-date. The writing is mostly up-to-date. I told you this would happen! You just need a little bit of faith! Through it all, I've kept up the walking and some of the gazebo time.

I did have one small SNAFU this morning. I was looking for one ...

Google is everywhere from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I had such a great day yesterday! I felt like I could tackle the world, and while I didn't solve any global issues, I accomplished loads! Had some great conversations with the Long Time Gone class, and well - it was a great day! Let's see what happened.

Oh, first - I want to share some walking stuff. Here's the thing about the virtual challenges -- I'm learning TONS about the geography in the areas in which I walk. I'm currently walking the Appalachian Trail, which goes through the mountains along the eastern part of the United States ...

ยป Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH -- thanks to Heidi - I just downloaded a new app (well, new to me) to my phone. It's called LibraryThing and allows you to catalog your books. I know there are other apps, and I do keep lists of books that I've read in another database, but I didn't want to type in authors, etc. This allows me to scan the bar code and go from there. I'm going to try it!

At the same time, it would be great if I could sort some of those books into categories! It would make it a whole ...

Snail's Trails from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another great day! Although, I was so keyed up that I couldn't fall asleep last night! Grrr!!

I know you're all wondering if I got that quilt quilted. Don't forget that I was still piecing the darn thing in the morning. Let's see what else I have to share with you first.

Thank goodness for rain gear. I didn't think it was raining very hard when I left the house to walk the girls, but when I was finished, I was wet. My pants were wet, so it was a PJ pant day! Yeah!! I ...

Celebrate EVERY success from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm happy to report that although I didn't get as much done as I would have liked yesterday, it was an AWESOME day! Too much time on the phone - but I won't go there!

Here's something that we need to be very conscious of, and trust me - it's hard to grasp this concept. I'd say that quilters are extremely caught up in this, and it's why we have so many UFOs.

The other day, I saw an acquaintance post a picture on Social media - she has already cycled just over 2,000 KM ...

A bird's eye view from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm positively in chill-out mode. OK -- so I'm not up to date on everything - still three more documents to write up, two quilts that need to be quilted, and well - that's it. OK - so there are two small quilt projects that I'd like to work on. But seriously?? I'm in control! The studio is pretty much organized; there's NOTHING on the calendar starting tomorrow for FIVE entire days. Oh my -- what am I going to do with myself?

It's going to be a glorious day - weather-wise and well - we need to get this ...

All about organizing from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I have a little bit of a routine in the morning. The rest of the day, not so much. Well, yesterday, when I was looking at my calendar and said I had NOTHING this weekend - I lied. I actually have two classes scheduled, and I need to see if they work on the day they are scheduled. While neither is huge, they do require prep work.

First - I need to get all the follow-up done for last week. That's a task for today. One presentation tonight and LOTS of writing today.

I have show and tell as well, but ...

Urbanologie Show and Tell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

What a whirlwind day! Lots of Zooming and lots of deadlines - all of which got met with time to spare! The walking helps me to sort out any issues and is pretty therapeutic. I must NEVER stop walking! I'll just walk shorter distances!

A quick note about the walking: there are four of us in a group walking across Canada. We started last year on July 1st. We started in St. John's, Newfoundland, and we are close to Victoria on the other side of the country. That's a total of 8,000 KM. I figured we would ...

Playing is good for the soul! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Wow-what a marathon day! I'm happy to report that some writing got done - not as much as I would have liked, but enough to keep the class happy and get them started on the homework. Three of four presentations are done, and one was presented last night - I'll post the show and tell tomorrow. One more still needs a bit of work - I have until 1 PM today to get that done. WAIT - I have two presentations between now and then! Oh well - I can make it work.

I have to say that it's going to be ...

Curiosity killed the cat from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

NO -- I'm not moving. We're quite happy where we are, but I noticed on my recent walks that there are two houses for sale in our area. One of them is empty, and I noticed that it's been recently renovated. That fact was hard to miss when there's been a huge dumpster in the driveway for weeks. The other house is up for sale - AGAIN! It doesn't seem to sell, then it goes back on the market again.

Let's face it - curiosity killed the cat, and I had to see what the inside of ...

Pandora's box from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Life is one big learning curve. It never fails that each and every day, I learn something. It could be a small tidbit, it could be monumental, but there's always something. And sometimes, you don't even know what you don't know!

So I've been on Zoom for a while - gosh - I think it's close to one year! That's incredible. This time last year, I had no idea what Zoom even was. I've been able to share my screen for PowerPoint presentations, and all is good. However, there are times when I want to ...

The Enchanted Garden from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So everyone was right! When I said I had two more crazy weeks, they just laughed! The worst of this week is over, and now it's time to tackle the next big assignment. Lots of writing. It's not bad at all - just makes me laugh when I think how optimistic I am and my friends bring me back into check.

Even though I'm busy, it doesn't mean that I'm working all day long! And I've found a new way to read magazines. Well, it's not new as I've been doing it for ...

Spring is coming! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm in big trouble. The weather has turned warm, and I want to be outside all day! I did a bit of yard cleanup yesterday - no jacket! I sat in the gazebo for a bit, and after my walk, I sat in the yard eating my snack. Oh yes -- bring on spring! It's going to be even warmer today! I know - that we could still get snow - I know that.

The view from the gazebo

The fish were up basking in the warm surface water. They are far from hibernating! I had a total of three dead fish ...

On "reading" an audiobook from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

What's the best way to listen to an audiobook? Thankfully, there are loads of options.

Since we have loads of options, I thought I'd share mine with you. First, I HATE to be rushed. I'm of the quality versus quantity school. I don't want to HAVE to listen to the book because the due date is coming soon. That's the case I'm in right now, which is OK once in a while but to be constantly trying to beat a deadline just so you can "read" the book? Way too much pressure and takes ...

The mail MUST get through from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

That expression was coined years ago and is mostly attributed to The Pony Express. I even found a reference to that saying.

Why must the mail get through at my house? We had more snow yesterday. Not as much as the day before, but it was snowing and blowing, and I needed to go for a walk. And I needed to get to the post office to mail that package for M. So I grabbed the HUGE box, which was an unwieldy size, and let's just say that it wasn't light.

The box

I took the shortcut through ...
