Do-Nothing Day, Quilt Show Encore, And Paducah Mural Wall from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's a good thing I have lots of pictures for you today. We can both just sit back and relax. I did almost nothing yesterday. The day off was very nice, and I'm happy to report my pain level is back to pretty much zero. (At my age, we're not ever quite at zero.)

The only thing I accomplished yesterday was getting Smitty out for some more Cattucky grass.

The people with the big woofies moved on and so the space beside us was empty. I've realized if I carry him around ...

April challenges from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

April has been a busy month with appointments, a sick cat and family functions.  Not much got accomplished in my studio, but I'm very happy at what got done.

Now, our sick cat.  It all started a couple of weeks ago, when I tried putting Ridley outside on a harness.  He absolutely freaked out.  He did not want to be outside and once back inside he started throwing up his food.  A number of days later and a visit to the vet and x-rays showed nothing there to cause the sickness.  He was given meds to stop the nausea ...

Maker's Mark Tour and More Quilt Museum Quilts from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. And it is a good morning because I'm happy to report that my hip pain has improved until it is almost non-existent. It's hard to believe because it was nearly unbearably painful for the past two days. We went on the Maker's Mark tour yesterday, which involved a LOT of walking. Sorry, no shuttle bus for the day. After the tour, we were able to pick up my medicine. I took one 20mg tablet of prednisone and a muscle relaxant, and today, the pain is nearly gone. It's practically a miracle.

So ...

Jim Beam Distillery and Roaring 20's Exhibit from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm writing fast because we have a tour scheduled at the Maker's Mark Distillery today. Yesterday, we visited the Jim Beam Distillery.

Before we left, we saw this woman out walking her cat here in the campground. The cat was very bold, and not at all afraid of anything...unlike Captain Courageous, who lives with us.

And there wasn't much time for anything in the morning. We took off early to go to the distillery.

There was a barn just through the entrance gate. It was never mentioned during our tour, and so ...

Shepherdsville, KY, the Monarch Challenge, and Museum Minis from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We've moved on down the road this morning. We're in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, which is just about 20 miles from Bardstown, Kentucky. This is where Mike gets to check a few things off his bucket list, starting with the bourbon distilleries. So, I'll tell you about our plans for the area in a bit, but let's go back to where yesterday started.

We were in no hurry to leave the previous spot, and that gave me plenty of time to work on my slow-stitching yesterday morning. I filled my hoop.

From there, I ...

National Quilt Museum and More Quilts from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We spent our last day in Paducah visiting the National Quilt Museum. We’d driven by it the day before, but entering through the front door, it was bigger than I thought. And before I go on, I want to say that being here in Paducah during “Quilt Week” has been quite an experience. The crowds were bad at the quilt show, but there was something special about being with so many quilters from so many different locations. The museum was similar, and the crowd was much less bothersome.

Here’s how it looks approaching the ...

Quilt Show from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Well...we did it. We saw the quilts at the show. It was a pretty easy day. We found on-street parking, and avoided the $10 charge that was right across the street. Our tickets were at the "will call" booth, just as expected. We were in and out in a couple of hours. After the show, we finished up our grocery shopping at the nearest Kroger store, and we were back at the RV by lunch time.

Smitty was champing at the bit to get outside, and so I took him out after lunch.

Eddyville, Kentucky from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends it's a misty morning here in Eddyville. It's been a while since we saw fog like this. This is what I see through the window as I write.

Backing up to East St. Louis, this was what we saw on our last evening there. The kitties were all about this. There were two rabbits, but one ran away too fast for me to capture him in my picture.

We spent our last morning resting up for the drive...just over 200 miles yesterday. Smitty likes this quilt.

Sadie was gathering the morning rays in ...

St. Louis, Missouri from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. That title up there is a lie. When we took off yesterday, I was unaware that the City of St. Louis spans two states. As it happens, we're staying on the Illinois side in the little town of Cahokia, Illinois. Apparently, Cahokia is also known as East St. Louis. No matter. We can see Missouri across the river from where we are.

So let's talk about yesterday's drive, shall we? We headed out US 65 until we reached I-44. The road looked like this most of the way, and we were to stay ...

A Hike and a Quilt Shop from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We had a day of running around Branson yesterday. There were four items on our to-do list, and we accomplished all four.

The morning started with me taking the first stitches on the third block for Grandpa's Bridges. Somehow it seems like the right trip to have started these embroidered quilt blocks.

Sadie was just settling in for her morning nap when we left the RV.

On our way to the quilt shop, we spotted this guy. Yeah...I don't know.

Someone on Facebook posted about visiting this shop in Branson. It looked like ...

Branson, Missouri from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and welcome to the "Show Me" state. Just now I had to inquire of The Google to ask why Missouri is the "Show Me" state. I found a couple of answers right here.

We backtracked our way out of Arkansas's state park yesterday. Fairly soon, we found ourselves crossing over the Arkansas River.

Looking out my window, it looked like this. It's a fairly large river.

Looking out Mike's window, it looks like this:

The Arkansas River is the same river we saw when we visited the Royal Gorge Bridge in Canon City ...
