Just One More Block from Quilts....etc.

Yesterday was another one of those days where there wasn’t enough time in the day to work on the blocks for Rainbow Crossings.  One measly block done – I swear I will do better today so I can get this quilt top finished this year – each block (if the fabric is pressed) only takes […]

Back to The Sewing Room from Quilts....etc.

After several days of not blogging being busy over the Christmas Eve/Christmas Day celebrations I though I better get busy and get back to to sewing. I had time yesterday afternoon to work a little bit on The Rainbow Crossings blocks – I might change out the two string blocks that are on each side […]

Baking Day from Quilts....etc.

Not much got done yesterday other than baking.  I got the girls favorite cookies made – Golden Thumbprints with raspberry jam and Mike’s favorite plain old chocolate chips.  Therefore I was in the kitchen most of the day it seems which is good as with as cold as it was outside the oven was helping […]

Was a Busy Day from Quilts....etc.

Sunday was just too busy with baking and then cleaning the kitchen/dining room afterwards.  Very little sewing got done – I do hope to get to the border squares today on Rainbow Crossings to get those blocks sewed into a row. Here is a sampling of what we made as we were packing things up […]

Where Did the Day Go? from Quilts....etc.

Yesterday was one of those days where at the end of the day you try to think of what to write and say “what did I do” LOL  I had to think about it for a bit and then I remember oh that is right I went to Hobby Lobby for a totally wasted trip […]

A Rainbow from Quilts....etc.

On the design wall that is.  I have been playing with the Crossed Canoes/Lemoyne Star blocks and I think I have solved the puzzle.  After moving things this way and that I think this is the layout.  So for a name?  Rainbow Stars?  Certainly shorter than Crossed Canoes/Lemoyne Stars! It is of course hard to […]

A Little Done from Quilts....etc.

I really didn’t get a lot done yesterday – I don’t know how cortisone shots affect you but if I get two of them like Thursday then I have a day or two of reaction – flush face, higher blood pressure than usual, a general fatigue type of reaction – if I have one shot […]

Piddling. Just piddling. from From My Carolina Home

Oh, finally, it is September. First day of meteorological Fall. Tomorrow the Apple Festival begins, and I am looking forward to the unofficial start of the autumn season in our small town. On the veranda, I have one last dahlia that has bloomed.

It was time to cook the weird squash, the only one that the garden produced this year. A helpful reader advised treating it like a winter squash so that is what I did.

It was very difficult to cut apart, much tougher than a butternut or spaghetti squash. It was closer to a pumpkin in density.

I ...

Carpenter’s Wheel from Quilts....etc.

The orange carpenter’s wheel block is done and I moved blocks around a little to distribute light colors a little more and this way looks better I think with only two blocks moved I think.  Next month for sure I will do a light color to add to the mix.  Linking to Wendy’s Quilts and […]

Red Letter Day! from From the Strawberry Patch...

Another day, another flimsy; no, actually it's a day to celebrate: here's "Red Letter Day", a completed quilt top at long last! I'd been very, very far behind on this block-of-the-month. This one took some full speed concentration and focused effort but, today, it's together and there's no looking back. This applique block brings me joy- I fussy cut that circle from a charm square, it appears to

Choices–Fabric from Quilts....etc.

I was picking through my orange fabric yesterday deciding what to put in the Arkansas Traveler blocks – I wanted to use smaller pieces first before I cut into the new orange fabrics if I could to use up those pieces and I was able to round up enough for them – I need 16 […]

Sometimes I Bake from Becca's Crazy Projects

I subscribe to a mailing list maintained by My Kitchen Wand. They do amazing work and often share recipes. Last week they shared their recipe for Chai Spice Overnight Raisin Bread
Sunday night I started my bread. I didn't have everything on the list so I did some improvising. I didn't have enough raisins but I did have dry cranberries. I also added some pecans since I didn't have a cup of dried fruits. This is what it looked like Monday morning. Bubbly and ready for the next step.
Here it is, fresh from the oven and ...

An Unorganized Day from Quilts....etc.

I like organization and order in my day – which I’m sure a lot of you have caught on to by now as I seem to be like clock work LOL – I do not have OCD – but maybe borderline!  So my girls like to tell me anyhow.  From the start my day wasn’t […]

Another Day of Catch Up from Quilts....etc.

Off to the doctor’s office in the morning and then stocking up at Sam’s Club on groceries and things – spend more every week don’t we!  We were home by 3 and it was time to unwind – I got the stacks of green fabric out to start looking at for the Arkansas Traveler and […]

» Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I certainly live in a vacuum. The book I'm reading - Looking for Jane?  -- That's a REAL thing, although the book is fiction. This book is even more timely, based on events that are currently unfolding. No wonder there's a waiting list, and I need to finish it in five days, which I will.

So we had a wicked storm pass through on Saturday, and there was NO need for the weather app to know that we would get rain.

I was busy working inside and didn't really know anything was happening. I came out to play ...

On baking a cake from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Gail's comment about keeping track of what she has accomplished is an excellent reminder. We are all on that treadmill, and if we don't stop and look at what we have done, it can add to that feeling of getting nowhere fast. Celebrate what we've done to help us get through what we need to do!

I'm trying to keep a picture of what I finish -- totally finished things, not just what I accomplished monthly on the sew-alongs. I don't think there are too many things in that folder yet this year. But that's ...

It's A Mystery from From the Strawberry Patch...

Don't you love a good mystery? If so, I've got one for you. On Thursday I needed to stop at a Post Office to mail a package. Mr. G. and I were on our way to meet friends for lunch, I asked him to stop at a local hardware store along our route that has a Post Office located at a counter in the back part of the store. This particular hardware store stocks a treasure trove of merchandise, it's

Pickle Dish and Cheesecake from Quilts....etc.

The final arcs are made for the Pickle Dish – now to see if I can get them attached before Melanie arrives for our birthday meal with Melanie – I decided to get the arcs done first as they are easy to do and do not need pinning – now the curves need to be […]
