Sunday Stash July 31, 2022 from Quilt Paint Create

No countable fabric in or out this week.

I gave some wool to a member of my art quilt group last month who is learning to dye it for applique. She dyed what I gave her and brought me some back to share the wealth.

It came out great. The colors are very clear and soft. The original blazer was cream.

The pieces in total are about 1/16^th of a yard, too little to count.

Fabric In: 0.5 yards

Fabric Out: 8.875 yards

Net Fabric Out: 8.375 yards

Flora and Fauna from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

Almost 5 years ago, we started a project called Flora and Fauna of Germany. I (Kara) can't believe it has been that long! We began the project as a way to use up our scraps of wool and cotton with simple blocks inspired by the flora and fauna I would see on my walks in Germany with our two hounds. Quilts and Crafts for Gifts from Humble Quilts

I'm sure I've shown you some of these before but I'm going to show them again. We stopped at my sisters in Idaho on our way home and I just love seeing some of the things I've made and gifted her with. The lighting was not good when I took these photos as the sun was going down.

Nesting Nuthatch from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

We are thrilled to have had such a great response to our Blue Jar Medley offering, Nesting Nuthatch! Got this bound and now will quilt. It is a good reminder for me since my words don't always wait before spilling out!

Wool Applique and First Overnighter from Humble Quilts

This is the wool applique that is hand sewn to raw silk. I opted to add no batting. I backed it with a gorgeous fabric that was gifted to me, then hand quilted around all the applique shapes.

I may hang it for a bit then decide if I want to add more quilting.

This backing was PERFECT!

Wool Applique from Humble Quilts

As you know I've been finding unfinished projects and finishing them. This is one of them- not quite complete. I love that wool applique is so portable! I have several "one blocks" made! Wool Applique from Humble Quilts

I completed this wool applique last night! Such a pretty little project.

Not perfect! Handmade and humble by me! lol

I opted to back it in a brushed homespun.

This is how I found the block in a drawer in my sewing room. I ended up finding a larger tablerunner pattern in a book by Rebekah Smith.

I brought it with me to Idaho and buttonhole stitched it down .

Then promptly came home and burned it! Aargh! I removed the stitches and sewed it back onto a new piece of black.

Then finished it with this lovely gold wool.

Autumn Jubilee Wool Stitch Along Finish from From My Carolina Home

Did you get your wool applique done from part 1? When we left off, the motifs were stitched to the base. If you missed part 1 that has the pattern, click on Autumn Jubilee on the sidebar and go back a few posts.
