Sunday chat – Baking, Gardening, Quilting from From My Carolina Home

The mountain laurel is in bloom now, and we have two large shrubs on our property. One is behind the house, the other on the edge of the meadow. I love these pink-tinged flowers with the red lines radiating from the center.

My bargain New Guinea impatiens have doubled in size and are blooming well. They seem to be very happy here. I really like the variegated coloring on the flowers.

Sunday Chat – Wildlife from From My Carolina Home

It has been a hectic week, with frantic sewing to try to catch up on the projects I wanted for the Fiber Fair. The event was yesterday, and I’ll tell you more about that in the coming week. For now, I am taking a moment on a Sunday for relaxation, and marveling at our beautiful world with its fall color and wildlife. The tulip poplar tree in the front was showing brilliant color for a day or two, then the leaves began coming down in earnest.

Gardening and Cooking from From My Carolina Home

I am happy it is September, and I know fall is coming because my toad lily is preparing to bloom. These buds are growing larger, and cascade down the leaf fronds. I have three pots of toad lilies in a three tiered stand.

There are going to be a lot of blooms this year. The leaves are turning brown in a few areas, and I think it is because they got too much sun. This is a shade loving plant, and next year I need to move it to an even shadier area of the veranda. Still, it seems happy ...
