Well it rained on Sunday and Sunday night a little but by afternoon the deck was dry and out came the quilt to shine Hunter’s Star – the sun came through the overhead branches and landed right on the yellow blocks making them shine brighter than the rest. The quilt finished at 93×94 inches I […]

This border is turning out to be easier than I thought it would be – what I thought might be a month of work might be a bit less. I decided to keep all the blocks going in the same direction not twisting or turning the into a wave type pattern. By moving the pieces […]
read moreWe had our UFO Club in the morning, and I was one of the few who didn't meet the deadline. That's OK - I'll get it done for next month. I completed part of it, but not enough to say I put in a reasonable effort. I wish I had more time to focus on my UFOs - I'm to the point now where I need this project (Cabin in the Woods X two) off my plate as I'm getting bored with it. OK -- so I am working on applique, which stalls me EVERY time. I like ...
read moreWhile I don't have a lot to show for what happened yesterday, I did get stuff done! That seems to happen a lot these days! I have two classes to prep for this weekend, and I'm at a local store teaching all day, so my time has been spent prepping for that.
For the life of me, I cannot find ONE sample that I'd really like to have today. What the heck could I have done with it? Sigh!! The store might have the same sample, so I'm HOPING!
Yesterday was all about the weather - it ...
read moreThe Rainbow Scrap Challenge colour for January is green, and I thought I had already completed my RSC stitching this month. But another project sneaked in. Hiding in plain sight was a bag of 2.5in squares, and I had thinking of doing a project I had seen in blogland, but that didn't happen. To be quite honest, I don't really like working with little squares, and was considering donating the bag to the Op Shop.
Perhaps I'll do something with them after all, I thought. So I rummaged through the bag, pulled out all the soft ...
read moreYesterday was one of those kinds of days once again where I am getting tired of the cold weather and just didn’t feel like sewing even though I had intended to. Instead I got out for awhile and wandered around Wal-Mart just to get out and pick up a prescriptions and a few things. We […]
read moreI had a productive day yesterday, but I didn't get as much done as I needed. I've been getting loads of sleep these days, but after dinner, I - well, I went to sleep in my comfy chair, and several hours later, I woke up and went to bed! I call it the hibernation factor. It's cold outside, and we want to sleep away the cold!
I also went to spin class in the morning, and I'm always more tired on those days. But all is good, and I had a great sleep. Hmmm --- could drinking lots ...
read moreOur weather is finally to start a little warm up tomorrow. I did get outside for a little yesterday just because I was starting to go stir crazy! I needed some fresh air even if it was barely in the 20’s. Do you get like that – need to get some air even if it […]
read moreIn the morning I got sewing done, then grocery shopping, then spreading frost sheets over berry plants and frost bags over bushes. I had hoped to get this first block of the center of the Dresden quilt further than I did, but that didn’t happen – now the hardest part betting this string around the […]
read moreWe had our first snowfall yesterday – even if it didn’t amount to much here it caused havoc in different parts of the state – the Nightly News with David Muir even showed photos from the northern part of the state that we drive through when going to visit family – it was a mess […]
read moreWell, I'm home again!
The weather while I was in the northern part of Ontario -- way -- that's a lie. If you look at the map, North Bay and Sudbury are north of me, but they are technically not the DEEP north of Ontario! So, while I was four hours north of home, the weather could not have been better. There was frost on the car one morning and a little bit of rain on the way home in the dark, but the temperature was excellent!
Thanks to all my friends in that area for wishing hard for the ...
read moreSpring has officially arrived in my part of paradise, and along with it came Daylight Saving, so we had to put the clocks forward one hour last week. I’m always so impressed that the computers and cell phones know how to do this themselves, so it’s only a couple of household clocks and those in the cars which need to be altered, plus watches too of course.
The last reasonably pleasant days of Winter have given way to the tumultuous Spring weather. It’s always so much more windy in Spring, it’s been rather wet off and ...
read moreWe are still very hot here for the last week of September and we have been for the past week and another week to go yet before it even begins to look a little like fall temperature wise. Our extended outlook – Not until October 7th do we even drop to the 70’s! the a/c […]
read moreAnd another day went by without a second walk in the afternoon! I'm still on track to reach my 4,400 KM goal for the year. I'm actually ahead of the game, but I better get myself organized! Without that second walk, I'm still walking 8 - 10 km daily, so I probably don't always need that one! And I walked the dogs without my knee brace yesterday, and all was fine. It's not perfect; I know that as I can feel it acting up. But what amazes me is how that single physio appointment "fixed ...

read moreI was able to sit down and enjoy quilting on Wednesday night with Arkansas Traveler. I got some of the design drawn on earlier in the afternoon and then sat and relaxed. This is what I have done so far in a variegated blue 12 weight Aurifil. I am linking to Patchwork and Quilting – […]
read moreLiving in the desert SW, heat is expected, but oye!Even the kitties are wilting I'm ready for Fall! Almost every morning for the last 3 weeks, you can find me here at 5:30. DH has been working with a couple of horses and time in the arena is part of their education. We usually spend about 2 hours first thing in the morning trying to beat the heat of the day.Monday evening we had a welcome shower
read moreI love all your comments, even though I'm a "bad" blogger, and don't personally acknowledge them all! That's another reason I want to cut back (DH just laughed when I said that) on stuff for next year. Hey -- the process is already happening, but there's still lots to do in the meantime!
I'm glad I inspire others to clean up our houses, studios, digital worlds, etc. We owe it to ourselves and our families to take more responsibility for ourselves! Isn't that what we teach our children? I wish I would have started a ...
