Quilt Block Test, Thrift Store Find, Attic 24 Crochet Latest, Another Great SAL, Autumn Love from Canadian Needle Nana

Saturday, Sunday and Monday were glorious days that showcased perfect October weather. The sun shone all day and warmed the earth. It was pleasant enough to sit on the veranda and stitch.

I watched leaves gently letting go and kept thinking of the word golden. Ned joined me, keeping a sharp eye on the squirrels and sniffing the air, enjoying autumn in an entirely different way.
It was perfect to be crocheting and I didn't mind the extra warmth of wool in my lap. I listened to this audio book, Miss Eliza's English Kitchen. A Novel of Victorian ...

Three Thrift Store Finds, What Wanda Said, Embroidery for Christmas from Canadian Needle Nana

Chicory is in bloom along the country road sides. It is a true late summer sight here in Ontario. I love the blooms and their unique shade of blue. Blue always seems like a special colour when found in flowers.

And I was happy to welcome bluebirds at the birdbath and the feeder all summer long. Here is a small one about to take a dip.
I got to go thrifting with Daughter last month and it was another great outing. It was a Tuesday so seniors get 20% off that day. I always challenge myself to see what I ...

Three Free Patterns, These Shoes Are Made for Walking, Jackrabbit Is|Growing Ears from Canadian Needle Nana

I have really enjoyed most of these summer days especially since the humidity moved out. The swimming and dog walking and playing have kept me on my feet and moving. As a happy consequence, my body is feeling fairly energetic and free of aches.  I feel like I've kept on top of the indoor chores too; it always gives me satisfaction to know the house has been tended to.

We have our first basket of Ontario peaches for the season. Hubby loves crumbles and crisps so that's what will be made of those not eaten as fruit.

Jackrabbit ...

Three Thrift Store Finds, Wheel Within a Wheel Block, Floral Motif Sampler from Canadian Needle Nana

The American Robins love the bird bath. This is a young one who just wouldn't leave it one day last week. Despite his grumpy look, he took such enjoyment it put a smile on my face watching hm.

I had this very odd thing happen to my finger on Thursday last.  Felt a searing pain and saw a blood vessel swell very suddenly in my right pointer finger. As I was thinking I need to get to the hospital, it stopped as quickly as it had started.  I now have a reddish bruise in the spot.
 Google has told ...

4 Favourite Things in One Picture, Autumn Pinks, Turkey Soup from Canadian Needle Nana

This is Thursday, a lovely day to look back at the week and contemplate the weekend ahead. Thursday was my second favourite weekday...Friday being #1 signaling the work week ending. I used to say 4 pm on Friday was my all time favourite moment in a week.

Here is Neddy enjoying one of many walks down the deciduous tree lined path at the back of the property. This borders acres of undeveloped land so there are many trails to enjoy. Overnight it seems to have become leaf lined; lately the leaves are falling like snow.

I happened to step ...

Great Thrift Store Find, Sixty Courthouse Steps, Flowers Flowering, Winter Boots from Canadian Needle Nana

The daily rain finally stopped and we had sun yesterday that felt glorious. I spent as much time outside as I could. It was a quiet kind of day and I noticed for the first time, leaves gently letting go and falling from the trees. Our little pond has been fully restored and the burgundy Sedum was beautiful in the sunlight.

I need to show you what I bought at the Value Village that I liked and thought was a bargain.  Here she is, Girl With Blue Ball.  She is porcelain and was fashioned between 1924 and 1974 by Nao ...

Christmas Gifts, Cozy Walmart Buy, Thrift Store Find, Appliqued Fox and Others from Canadian Needle Nana

It's a dull weather day today as we brace for snowfall later this afternoon, the first real snow of the year. It is thanks to conditions far away...something called a Colorado low.  See how connected we are, my American friends.

Thrift Store Scores, Natures Pinks/Violets, Dreamy Hearts Quilt, Bathing Birds from Canadian Needle Nana

This is a close up of phlox.  A few bunches are here and there all over the garden. There is white as well but not nearly as showy. It was an excellent year for phlox and it did well despite the July heat and drought. Another wonderful perennial for a little further back in a flower bed.

I was struck while out and about by how much violet/pink is represented in an autumn time garden. Here is a smattering.

The sedum which is coming into bloom. There are two kinds here.

This bull thistle

Still prized by a few ...

Quarantine Days are Strange But Busy, EPP, Poetry Too from Canadian Needle Nana

Sunshine warming our shoulders lately so April has been kind to us. March went out like a lamb; it had come in like a lion so, for once, the old saying stood up.  Look at all the leaves revealed now down that trail.

We had our grocery order delivered by SIL. Hubby watched the video on how to handle it so we got him to drop it at the bottom of the front walkway. We used rubber gloves and removed it all from the bags, put it in my own bags, then wiped it all with a bleach solution and ...

Free Patterns, Hand Quilting, Bird Cams, Grandson Time from Canadian Needle Nana

March, the month of many weathers, is upon us.  There are so many sayings related to this month. Did you ever hear this one... that whatever the weather is on the 21st of March, that will be the weather on June 21st?
A few crows cawing and the chickadees twittering-I've yet to hear any spring bird sounds.  I'm anxiously waiting for the Indiana Barred Owl live cam to come back on stream. That always makes March enjoyable. A link is here to the All About Birds cams if you would like to check out many birds raising their ...
