What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

I feel a bit like a stranger who has been gone too long. I know I have been busy, but hadn’t realised I had missed a whole month. Plenty of medical issues have kept me busy and none of them were mine. Lots of time has been spent in waiting rooms and next to hospital beds, and being a taxi driver. As a result, sewing has slowed, but knitting and embroidery have kept me company. So now it is time to catch up.

I had run out of my gift supply of knitted monkeys ...

I am getting towards the end of this burst of donation quilts. The collection is steadily growing. I will now get back to a few of my own quilts, which are waiting impatiently on the sidelines.

This little lap quilt is made from leftover charm squares from the Sherbet Pips fabric line. I had to add in a couple of strays to make up the numbers.

I have been lucky to pick up a few fabrics at a closing down sale that work well as backings. This one with the blue crabs is rather cute.

Next up is another Strippie ...

I have continued to make more of the Strippie quilts with fabric that has waited patiently in my stash. I will get a few more made for donations, in between some of my own quilts. This one stood out with its bright colours and bird houses.

The birdhouse fabric and the flowers on the blue background are the same fabric range.

I added the stripes from some stash fabric.

The backing is also from that range. I also used it for the binding.

It is lovely to have another ready for the donation pile.

I spent some time this week ...

Everything seems to be moving along very quickly – including the month of March. I know we are trying to catch up on all we have missed during lock downs and so there are a lot of requests for social activities. But also I think we became very comfortable with the slow pace of lock downs and now we are finding it hard to return to being busy. I am surprised that I am only just sneaking this post in at the end of March.

Along with all the new projects I mentioned starting last time, there were a few extras ...

I just had to finish off that koala I was knitting. But it didn’t stop with one. A bit like eating potato chips. So I ended up with three.

They are lovely to make – a little bit fiddly, but worth it. The hardest part was the faces and I am sure that they will get better the more I make.

It is a pattern by Little Cotton Rabbits and is available as a PDF. I am experimenting with yarns ( 8 and 10 ply) and needle sizes. It looks like both wool thicknesses work well as long as I use ...

Welcome Spring. It has been lovely to get outside in the sunshine over the last week. But there has still been plenty of time to fit in some stitching, too.

Three of these little friends have been put together. I tuck these away for gifts. They are an easy project to have on hand.

I have managed to finish blocks 6 and 7 from Dancing Chickens and Flying Pigs. Past the half way mark now! I am starting to think about how to put these blocks together. I can follow the pattern but I am also thinking of other alternatives ...

As usual, I have found a distraction in between finishing quilts.

Here it is in a small bowl.

I went to a class at Bear Essence in Tooradin with a group of friends to take a class for this little baby hedgehog.

I think the prickly fur is quite delightful. The hedgehog is made to roll up into a ball and has a hook and eye to hold it in that position.

It even has a belly button but I am not sure that shows up in the photos.

The pattern is by D’Lyell Bears and is called Snuffles ...
