A Quick March. from Sunburnt Quilts

Everything seems to be moving along very quickly – including the month of March. I know we are trying to catch up on all we have missed during lock downs and so there are a lot of requests for social activities. But also I think we became very comfortable with the slow pace of lock downs and now we are finding it hard to return to being busy. I am surprised that I am only just sneaking this post in at the end of March.

Too Much Cuteness. from Sunburnt Quilts

I just had to finish off that koala I was knitting. But it didn’t stop with one. A bit like eating potato chips. So I ended up with three.

They are lovely to make – a little bit fiddly, but worth it. The hardest part was the faces and I am sure that they will get better the more I make.

It is a pattern by Little Cotton Rabbits and is available as a PDF. I am experimenting with yarns ( 8 and 10 ply) and needle sizes. It looks like both wool thicknesses work well as long as I use ...

Keeping Busy. from Sunburnt Quilts

Welcome Spring. It has been lovely to get outside in the sunshine over the last week. But there has still been plenty of time to fit in some stitching, too.

Three of these little friends have been put together. I tuck these away for gifts. They are an easy project to have on hand.

I have managed to finish blocks 6 and 7 from Dancing Chickens and Flying Pigs. Past the half way mark now! I am starting to think about how to put these blocks together. I can follow the pattern but I am also thinking of other alternatives ...

A Prickly Handful. from Sunburnt Quilts

As usual, I have found a distraction in between finishing quilts.

Here it is in a small bowl.

I went to a class at Bear Essence in Tooradin with a group of friends to take a class for this little baby hedgehog.

I think the prickly fur is quite delightful. The hedgehog is made to roll up into a ball and has a hook and eye to hold it in that position.

It even has a belly button but I am not sure that shows up in the photos.

The pattern is by D’Lyell Bears and is called Snuffles ...
