September Happenings from From the Strawberry Patch...

We made a quick trip to the campground where our son and his family were staying this week for dinner out on Saturday evening; we wanted to help celebrate our favorite daughter-in-law's birthday (albeit a few days late). They're loving their new camper trailer and finding every excuse that they can to hit the road and explore the sights that our state (and those close by) have to offer. Gregory

Late August Wrap-Up from From the Strawberry Patch...

I had a friend ask me the other day of I was ever going to post again; that's how long it's been since I've updated here! Sheesh. It's not that I haven't been doing anything, that would be the simplest explanation; actually, the exact opposite is the case. I'm going to bring the blog up to date, but it will take several posts to accomplish that. At last post, I was pulling blocks-of-the-month out

Finishing Up... from From the Strawberry Patch...

I've been trying to wrap up some lingering projects-partially-done by getting them quilted, bound and ready for finishing. When I get on a roll it's really not that hard, I just need to keep focused and on track. This is "Fun~fetti" after trimming up. It's one from a couple of years ago where I tried my hand at the split-nine patch using low volume fabrics. I felt it was really much too blah, so

Golden Hours from From the Strawberry Patch...

Things around here have seemed quiet and much slower-paced since the conclusion of Quilt Camp last week. On Saturday I went down the road with a friend for another Chrismon class, this one was a 3D cross with pearls. It was fun! The cross framework was constructed first with the oblong gold beads; the pearls are popped in at the end, they're free floating inside. Isn't it pretty? Of course, I

Don't send out the bloodhounds yet, I'm still here! It's been a busy, busy week. Isn't that great to think about? A busy, busy week! Yes!! After months on end of nowhere to go and nothing to do, life is ratcheting up again, my calendar is filling every day and it feels so good! Is it summer yet? from QUilting By-You

We can’t believe that the school year is almost over. On one hand we weren’t sure how school was going to look and now we are almost ready to close the books for this school year.

To that end, we have been on the busier side of getting t-shirt quilts completed in time for graduations as well as handling end of the school year things. So to say our schedules are a little convoluted right now would be an understatement! Thankfully there are just a few days left and we can settle into the normal summer schedule.

Finally ...

And Sew It Goes from From the Strawberry Patch...

I've finished the quilting on this little one, "Sister Bear"; I have the binding all ready to apply, and wouldn't you know it, it's a batik and there's enough left over to make more masks! Yay! This is the batch from last week, thirteen adult sized and one child's mask; they've already been distributed to their new families and I have nine all ready to go this week! I thought that my batiks were

Summer Tablescape for 2 from From My Carolina Home

It is the beginning of a holiday weekend, but it just doesn’t seem like a festive time with so many events canceled.  This weekend should be a riot of gardening in our downtown area with Garden Jubilee on Saturday and Sunday, but that is now moved to the individual garden centers.  This just isn’t the same as a festival.  It is hard to be excited when this weekend will be spent just like most every other day for the past two months. While I am not in a mood for patriotic festivities, I do think changing the table ...

Hello!  It’s Cindy reporting in from Ohio today.  I know spring is just around the corner because Punxsutawney Phil said so!

Since spring will soon be here (because I have no reason to doubt Phil), I’ve been thinking about pillows for my front porch swing.  Stop the press!  Check out this cool panel I found!zebra LargeBut wait, there’s more!  This porch pondering panel purchase includes two, yes two, different designs.  Here’s the other one.Elephant largeThe panels are fairly large and will make pillows that are 18 inches or more, depending on how big I make the ...

I realize the title makes me sound as if I’ve been seriously out of touch with reality, but I’m talking about my Nova Scotia tidal marsh landscape series. The fourth one, summer, is close to completion, some five years after … Continue reading

I'm Back!! from Quilting Solutions

Too busy to sew, too busy to write.  I have had a wild several months, but have finally returned to my needle and threads.  It has been strange not to sew, but I have not been idle.

Our summer panned out as follows:
10 days in June traveling to and from Southern CA for the wedding of our granddaughter.

....and hiking a slot canyon along the way.  So cool!

Little Wild Horse Canyon, UT
10 days to get things done at home, mostly fertilize the iris and clean house.
