Death of a Dream? from Kim Hanson Quilts

As many of you know, I’ve longed for a backyard writing shed for years. I’ve had a recurring dream since my 30’s of a peaceful, tranquil, creative space, all my own.

Cleaning off the table tops............ from Exuberant Color

This is the cutting table in my main floor studio yesterday morning. I had raised the leaf and put a second cutting mat on it for a project last week.

After a very lazy relaxing day yesterday this is my progress. There is at least one more 2 hour session to finish up. I can even fold the leaf down now and use the original cutting mat.

My Christmas dinner was delivered by my son, prime rib and roasted veggies. Yum!!

Going in different directions! from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

More like spinning my wheels in different directions!

All the wheels have now been appliqued onto the background strips. Yeah. Progress. Something accomplished! The photo looks washed out from the bright sunshine spilling into my studio. It is cold outside (-17C or 1.4F). It is good that we have snow on the ground, otherwise there would be water pipes bursting. Still those wheels are something to celebrate. Now, I can concentrate on assembling all the sections together now.

It's been hot. I mean really HOT....well at least for the Lake Erie region it's been hot. A few changes from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Tuesday I did a little in the studio: straightened up the fabric so I could put away three containers of fabrics that I separated out some time ago. Generally one container of solids goes into the camper when we are traveling--you just never know when you need something that can coordinate with the rest of the quilt. A big container with a variety of solids can really help out in a pinch.

Sunrooom Studio from Quilts + Color

I set up a small studio in the sunroom on the first floor so I can walk over and sew for 5 minutes or a short time.
I am working with leftovers from previous projects making small items. It's working and I have a few done and others in the process.

My Friday............ from Exuberant Color

My first thought yesterday was to clean my main floor studio. You can see to the left many layers of "stuff" piled on what should be a cutting table. Almost everything in this room is on wheels and I need to move everything out and vacuum really well. Then I realized I can't vacuum while I have the blocks on the design wall or they would go flying everywhere so onto plan B.

Well, now that the leaves have finally come out, I am out of pollen induced haze. Its amazing how good you feel when the tree pollen level drops!! With that I'm finally on the last legs of sewing space reorganize. If you had told me that it was going to take a month, I would have said NO WAY, but of course I didn't realize I would lose a week to tree pollen!!

Clean up, clean up, put away, put away from Art In Search

I reached the point in my studio that I had to clean out or scream. I had so many plastic boxes and bins everywhere and especially on my floor. I had to do something. Michaels had 10 drawer rolling drawers on sale ($29.99 and coupon) and I bought 5 (one I gave to my son for his watercolor supplies). Shipped them to me for free.
I have to give Michaels a shout out, because one wheel in all of these units was the wrong one. I emailed them with a photo and within a few hours, they had one ...

Keeping Busy, but not always productive :) from Bayou Quilts

I have been on another attempt to straighten and organize my sewing and craft stuff. I've gone through my fabric stash and filled a box for Goodwill. Added some ancient Quilting Arts magazines and even some of my beloved Prims magazines. Started another box and filled it with more fabric and other miscellaneous items that were intended for various projects and will never be used again. (Sometimes items move back and forth from the donate to the keep pile and back again.)

Have to wrangle the chaos upstairs before I can play again.

The End... from Val's Quilting Studio

The hum of my sewing machines seem to almost echo in our empty house as the final quilt gets quilted....

...and another got binding sewn on.

Moving the table......... from Exuberant Color

I decided to turn the drafting/cutting table sideways in the space so I can walk all the way around it. As you can see there is a drain in the floor there. With people coming to my studio to use my design walls I have to have something sitting over the drain because the floor slopes down all around it in about a 24" diameter.

A little sewing............ from Exuberant Color

I got 3 more postage stamp blocks sewn in one direction but didn't feel like turning on the iron. My plan is to make one block every other day or a total of 4 one week and 3 the next week so these will fill the quota for this week when I get them finished.

When I measured my drafting table I did an internet search and found out there was a mat that was just one inch shorter in both directions so basically it covers the whole top of the table.
