A Bit of Sewing, Stamping and Gardening from From My Carolina Home

Small projects were the focus over the past couple of weeks as I haven’t had any big blocks of time available to get into the basement sewing and crafting room. What time I have had was devoted to getting things ready for the quilt show, and that included deciding what I was willing to sell, then deciding on how much to ask. Each item now has one of my cards with a price on it, hanging from a green cord. All total, I’ll have 18 quilts, placemat sets and table runners for sale.

Here and there, I sat ...

Spring Projects from From My Carolina Home

With the warming weather, I think many of us get a bit of cabin fever, wanting to do some outdoor activities and spring projects. I thought it was time to hang a Spring Wreath. I made this one a few years ago, and it is still looking good.

Spring is a nice time to send some special cards, especially if you missed sending Easter ones like I did. These rabbits work on the inside as well as the front of a card. Punching a decorative window on the front gives you a dimensional card. See the entire post on how ...

Stamping Cards from From My Carolina Home

I have so much paper, stamps, ink and decorative elements for cards that I will not use them up in my lifetime. I do enjoy the hobby and thought it would be nice to make some cards to sell at our quilt show booth. I think that quilters who do not stamp might be interested in some handmade cards with a sewing theme.

I made these three over a week ago, but haven’t been able to get back to the stamping bench since. All the cards are blank inside.

I packaged them with an envelope in a clear plastic ...

Sewing and Stamping from From My Carolina Home

What fun we had yesterday, sewing and chatting on Zoom. Thank you to all who were able to come. I really needed some quilty fun and I enjoyed the day a lot. I got a fair amount done, too. I removed sleeves from two quilts, and made a permanent sleeve for my Twinkle Twinkle Pumpkin Star quilt. This is the one that was published in Quilts and More Magazine under the name of Evening Harvest. I want to show it at our guild’s show in May, so it needs a good sleeve. I made the sleeve from the same ...

So, to have something for you today, I will give you a roundup of some Valentine ideas from years past. Cards, Stashbusters and a BOM from From My Carolina Home

Recently, my blogger friend Jeanie at Marmalade Gypsy and I were chatting on email and she made a comment in frustration that I thought was a brilliant idea. Christmas was so busy and was going by so fast. We both were lamenting that there was no time for cards when she said “I swear, next year I am going to make New Year’s cards and just take the pressure off me!” As the holiday approached at breakneck speed, I kept thinking about her comment. Why not do that this year? So, here we are, the week after Christmas, I ...

Autumn Jubilee Cardmaking Fun from From My Carolina Home

I like making cards for friends and family and Autumn is the best time to send some cheer. It is no secret that my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving with the parade, a special breakfast, calling friends and family for cheerful wishes, the aroma of baking turkey and dressing, and a full day of football along with the anticipation of the holiday season beginning. Naturally, I have been sending Thanksgiving cards for years. It is fun to send a few just to say happy fall too. I begin with pulling out my tub of Autumn related stamps, some fall color papers ...
