Odds and Ends from Becca's Crazy Projects

I tried to make a quick-disconnect holder for masks. Progress was spotty, needs more work.
I worked on another Granny Hack shawl that turned out too short and will end being a cowl.
I made some Tunisian crochet swatches to test an idea.
Because my set of Tunisian crochet hooks arrived.

Don't Blink Poncho from Becca's Crazy Projects

Continuing to work on projects that I have just waiting I decided to make a poncho using this fun Doctor Who fabric I bought on sale last year. A print this size deserves to be something big that doesn't chop up the print.
The first thing I had to do was clean off some of this workspace. Cutting fabric for quilting isn't difficult with less space, but when it comes to cutting fleece for garment sewing I need room and less clutter.
Afterwards there was space to work and and think. Sometimes the clutter gets in the way ...

Paper or Plastic? Neither! from Becca's Crazy Projects

Pulled out the serger this past weekend to make some quick totes. It took me almost as long to set it up for 4-thread overlock as it did to make my totes. I'm not saying it is difficult to change the set-up because it isn't. It just takes a few minutes to find the cheat-sheet and tools to get it set up correctly. Threading is a breeze!
My aunt sent me these fabrics a couple years ago and they've been sitting on a shelf for entirely too long. I went over to the Green Bag Lady's ...

Finished Objects from Becca's Crazy Projects

In the crafting world there are many UFOs. Un-Finished Objects. This photo from a couple weeks ago shows some of mine. I finished the mesh tote and shared it on the blog last week. I'm going to keep wandering around my creative space, finding some of those UFOs and trying to finish a few.
These hats are from a machine embroidery design I picked up from Urban Threads Embroidery. I had the applique pieces and even some silly horns and ears cut out for I don't know how long. I decided it was time for those to be ...

More Masks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I know everyone is tired of these posts. I'm tired of making masks. But this is what I've been doing with my creative time and energy so that's what the blog is going to get.
I just grab a a piece of fabric that has been in my collection for a while, and I have no idea why I bought it, or how I would use it, and cut a few masks. This happens several times a week. That way I can sew up a few on the weekend to give to family. I was hoping I ...

Sewing Up the Past from Becca's Crazy Projects

Some projects seem to hang around my creative space until they have matured a bit. I think I bought this roll of red mesh to make a tote back about six or seven years ago. This is the little stack of lingering projects I pulled out of hiding this week. I may not get all of them done but if I don't look at them they will never get done.
I bought this mesh, so long ago that when I searched for the pattern and pattern maker online I couldn't find either. I did find several YouTube videos ...

Making Masks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I know, this is what everyone's Instagram and blog feed is filled with. Sorry. A family member with little ability to get masks asked for a few. I needed to make a couple more for my husband, too, so I grabbed some fabric and got cutting. This is the free pattern from Craft Passion
These work pretty quickly once you get going. The best part about this was using some fabric I knew I would never use for anything else. That fabric ended up as the lining.
I used the t-shirt ties I mentioned in my last masks post ...

Making Masks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I saw a different mask pattern put out by The Happy Zombie and wanted to give it a try. It comes in three sizes and is free.
You can pick up your own copy of Happy Zombie Mask Pattern. If you want to support them, check out their site at The Happy Zombie. I liked this pattern design but not as much as the one from Craft Passion.
I used the instructions from the Happy Zombie Mask Pattern to make a t-shirt's worth of ties for masks. This is the result of cutting up one medium-size adult tee. That ...

Something is Better than Nothing from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been carefully watching the homemade mask discussion over the last few weeks. We went from "they don't do anything" to "you should wrap a bandana around your face" and finally to "wear a mask when you go to the grocery store". It was a social experiment set on overdrive. I collected a few links to tutorials along the way. Everyone had their idea of what a mask should be. By the time the CDC announced people should wear face coverings when going out, the number of tutorials and free patterns was mind numbing. Domesticity, a Baltimore fabric ...

Call Me Badge Holder from Becca's Crazy Projects

Last week I shared my first Call Me badge holder. Saturday I grabbed some fabrics to make a couple more. This time, I used this fun tentacle print from Spoonflower.
Darling Husband wanted something bright and difficult to miss. I think this hit the mark.
This one is a little wider than the first one I made and I'm super pleased with how it turned out.
Now he will be ready the next time we get to attend a convention.
I made myself a slightly larger one, too. I love the happy crab and jellyfish!

Call Me Badge Holder from Becca's Crazy Projects

Last year when we went to Relaxicon they handed out these badge holders with registration. I liked the idea of a badge holder that holds more than your badge, but this one really didn't hold all the things I want to carry, or not conveniently, in one place. If I had to pick one reason I didn't like it is the cord. Sure, it is adjustable, but once you put your cell phone inside that cord will cut into your neck more than you would think.
I found a great pattern called Call Me from By Annie that ...
