For part two of my creative week, I have two things to share. The first is my Stay-At-Home-Round-Robin quilt, "Spring Bunnies" is finished! Yea!
I made this into a spring theme this year, figuring out how to adjust prompts to fit into that!

We have had 6 prompts, and I've posted that week's blocks each time, with pattern sources and close ups. This week I will just share some close ups of my choices
The first prompt was "spool" blocks, and mine is in the image below... I did one with flowers as ...
read moreThe last three or four weeks haven't been especially conductive to sewing room time. First the shoulder and then my back issues required me to reduce my activities, including stitching. Consequently I'm not where I'd like to be on the Stay at Home Round Robin. The final parade is up today at Quilting Gail's. We have till next Monday to link up which is good because my version is still in lots of pieces.
We've had a beautiful few days, it actually felt like spring. But that's over and we'll be back to colder temps and rain for the next few days. It will be good sewing room weather. I skipped my all day sewing session on Sunday because it was too pretty to stay inside. Consequently, I didn't get as far on last week's to do list as I had planned.
The last prompt for the SAHRR was posted by Quilting Gail last Monday. Borders 1 and 2 are done, I'm still working on 3, 4, 5 and 6. I did decide on what the final border will look like. I'm not a fan of the typical 4 patch pinwheel blocks. Not sure why, they just don't appeal to me. So I typed pinwheel into the search function of EQ and found another pinwheel block that I did like.
Of course this block requires 8 HSTs, all at 1.5" to end up with a 4" finished block ...

started with pinwheel fabrics cut 3" two sewn together on diagonal on either side of a center line, cut apart, makes two little blocks
you'll need four background pieces cut at 2.5" as well

I didn't figure out the tricks til I was on block 4... you must trim the beginning triangle units down to 2.5"

read moreFebruary wasn't the best month on the stitching front. My shoulder issues sidelined me for about a week. I'm finding that there are still schedule disruptions, outside appointments, and other errands that intrude on my days. That's OK we have stuff that needs to get done and I'm grateful that we can take care of those things now. But it does cut into my stitching time and probably will for a bit. We delayed a lot of repair work because it was hard for us to get off work. At some point we'll get caught ...

I'm still trying to learn to easily use the Gylene Fitzgerald pineapple scrappy ruler. I decided to stop trying to only use 1.5" strips, wasting too much for my taste, and instead cutting squares into fourths to add each new row ...
read moreI'm not sure where February went, I'm not ready for it to be March. Though I am ready for it to be spring. It was in the 70s yesterday, but temps will start out below freezing later in the week. Early spring in Oklahoma is just a bit nutty. But based on the weather in California the last week or so, I'm sure many are feeling that way now.
It was a productive day. Computer time makes my shoulder worse, sewing time seems to help, though I did a lot more scrap hunting and fabric cutting than I did stitching. Hopefully as this week goes on the shoulder will hurt less, but till then I'll be limiting my computer time.
Most of the afternoon and evening were spent playing catch up on the 2023 SAHRR. The final prompt comes out tomorrow over at the Quilting Gail blog. I made good progress today on the previous prompts, but didn't get caught up.
The stars from week 2 are ...

Square within a Square for SAHRR
This week's instructions for the Stay at Home Round Robbin (SAHRR) is a square within a square block, recommended by Emily at The Darling Dagwood. She will be appliquéing flowers in the middle square, but I wanted to keep it fast and easy. A quick search bought me to 10 Ways to Make a Square-in-a-square block (see Related links below). I followed ...
read moreI'm a bit late posting today. Computer time has been limited, my shoulder has started acting up again. That's eaten into my stitching time, my blog reading and email replies. Being at the sewing machine doesn't bother it as badly as being on the computer does, but I've had to cut down on both to help get the inflammation down. A couple of days of limited activity and my shoulder should be back to normal. This along with my allergies over the weekend affected my progress on last week's to do list.
To Do List ...

Even being home a lot more now that I'm retired, the piecing for SAHRR is running behind. Maybe I'm just a slow stitcher? I'm ...
