Working through fatigue from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I survived the day, but not without a couple of laughs. I had been texting one of my colleagues in the morning, and we were both saying that we didn't want to talk to anyone, especially each other! Then my SIL, who doesn't live close but is here because MIL had her second knee done, stopped by, and guess what? I had to talk!

I tried to have an extra nap in the morning, but the cleaning lady came, so that wasn't going to work! It was just one of those days! But I did end up ...

Switching bricks from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So -- it's exciting to be able to go somewhere, but I don't think I've ever gone somewhere and not been in a flap the day before. And I know people who travel every week -- well, they used to. I would have died long ago!

I had to make sure that all my travel docs were in order. And it seems you have to resubmit your vaccine papers for each trip. So far, there's no one beside me on the plane. Then I still have to change some previous arrangements - hotels, cars, etc. And seriously - trying to ...

Letting go of the clutter from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW --- each day at my house brings something new. No two days are alike, as I'm sure is the case at your house. But when the totally unexpected happens, and it's a good thing, the world needs to know about it.

Like most new quilters (or even the more experienced), you buy fabric because you like it and it's precious. So precious that you can't even cut into it, but then you get to a point when you realize that it's OK to cut into that precious stuff. And how many of you have said ...

Flowers in BLOOM from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

If you were an early reader of my blog yesterday, you stumbled upon a MESS. When I left for the gym, I didn't realize that the completed file did NOT get uploaded. It was a rough draft full of spelling errors and terrible grammar. Sigh...   When I returned and realized what had happened, I had to edit it and finish writing it. Oh well --- I need to be more careful next time.

Yep, even though I started the customer quilt earlier, it was almost bedtime by the time I finished it. I never even made it to the garden ...

Harvesting stones from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH, SHOOT -- it was only when I got home from the gym that I realized the blog post had saved a VERY ROUGH draft, not the final one, and I had to rewrite part of it. OOOPS.

I seem to be getting my main work done starting at 4 PM, which is wild for someone who gets up early. Why is that? I started quilting the customer quilt at 4, and I tackled my box of crap after dinner, and I must change that because I fell into bed exhausted.

However, I'm thrilled to report that things are looking ...

I will CONQUER the paper, one box at a time from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW --- I'm so excited that I'm not alone in this "fight" against junk! Well, I'm not excited that you all have junk to get rid of, but I'm excited that I'm not alone and that we are all supporting each other. The job is so large that we all need each other's support. Until your brain can reach the tipping point where you are committed to making it happen, we need the help of others to get there.

Once there, we need the drive to keep going. In the past, I've been bad ...

Bye - bye installers! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Well, it's done! Bye-bye - Pella installers. They managed to finish off all five windows and were out the door by 4:30 or something like that. I really think they need the big yellow circle PELLA logo on that trailer.

The installers are leaving

I mean, it seems that everything you see these days is branded! I've been watching the Missouri Star videos for their advent calendar. Holy --- a lot of the stuff in the box is branded, and their iron is branded. Wait -- I think there are two different things here. We have the manufacturer's brand ...

What was lost is found! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The missing window has been located! Yeah! I was so worried that the issue I uncovered back in June hadn't been rectified, but I was sure that I scoured that contract before shelling out the money. When I returned from the morning walk, the guys were already hard at work in the garage on the window that had initially been forgotten. Phew -- that means the contract should be OK.

The missing window was in the warehouse, and it was a challenge to keep them all straight when they had so many windows! But we are good to go.

All ...

I need more fingers and toes from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'll start with the window update. So fourteen windows are entirely done, and a couple more are prepped and ready to go this morning. Those are sitting in the garage, and that leaves 12 windows to go and two days left to install them. If you do the math, I don't think they will make it. Two of the windows they did yesterday were small ones in two upstairs bathrooms.

At some point, we needed to do a count and NO -- we seem to be one window short. I knew this was going to happen. Well, no - I ...

What color is your roof? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I have to laugh as I was reading someone else's blog post this morning, and they talked about how their dog, Jade, didn't like things moved around and was out of sorts! That's just like me! I don't mind the furniture being moved, but I find it incredibly hard to focus when there are work people in my house. No idea why -- I don't mind them coming and going, but it's just darn distracting. I think it's because I have to keep the girls entertained or out of the way, and that's ...

Out with the old, in with the new from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I cannot begin to tell you how lucky we are with the weather. Way back in June, we signed a contract to replace ALL the windows in our house. There are 26 of them - don't even contemplate how much that is costing!

Initially scheduled for September, the work quickly got pushed to October and then December. I seriously was expecting it to get pushed again, but NOPE -- the installer arrived yesterday and will be here the entire week. The weather couldn't have been more perfect for that.

I had asked the installation coordinator what windows they would start ...

Virtual Quilt Canada - a BOOMING SUCCESS from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm like a dog with a bone about the windows. I happened to run into my neighbor while walking the dog and their patio door with the integrated blinds/shades? It's a Pella with the "bottom stack." That is what the blinds that open from the bottom up are called. Elle commented that they also have some Pella windows with the same mechanism, which is the same brand that I'm looking at.

I was back to the showroom yesterday, and GRRRRRRRR   - they no longer make the bottom stack windows. Why not??????  I've spoken to two different ...

Window Shopping from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm all in a flap this morning. My computer is downstairs! I had to bring it down for a presentation - it's a long story. In short, my laptop is struggling with one version of the embroidery software, but that version works fine on the desktop. When I have a software presentation, I bring the desktop downstairs. I had one presentation yesterday, and I have one this morning. So it didn't seem worth it to take it upstairs.

I NEED to get that laptop working as this is just silly!!!

So have you ever been window shopping? Oh ...

Treasures From Another Time from - Barb Robson ::: quilter

While we don’t know when the picture on the left was taken, the one on the right was taken in 2018. we have done a lot of work and renovations to make sure this house will survive many more years. We have a local architectural feature known as a “Lunenburg Bump” which serves as a front porch for the front door and also it gives us a lovely open area in the upstairs hall.
