April in the Garden from From My Carolina Home

The garden is still gearing up, with some things finishing their blooming cycle and others are just getting started. I still haven’t bought the forsythia I want for the circle island, and now it may once again be too late. I need to figure that out this week. This is a photo of one from a few years back, just to show you the gorgeous yellow flowers that cover the bushes in early spring.

The redbud tree is coming out beautifully, with the pink blossoms alive with pollinators.

More things are blooming in the garden this week, and more birds have been showing up at the feeder. The redbud tree has burst into glorious color, a lavender-pink that is just beautiful. It is alive with honey bees.

The branches are full of blooms.

When a goldfinch landed on a branch, I tried to get a photo of him. His brilliant yellow against the flowers would be a great photo for the state fair this year. But of course, I couldn’t get the focusing right before he flitted off to the feeder again to stuff his beak.

Projects in Progress from From My Carolina Home

I have been working on many quilting projects, but so much is still secret. I’m able to give some sneak peeks now, and I am so eager to show you what I can. I began quilting my Pachanga quilt, and it was a struggle at first with thread breaking. I think I have that figured out, but quilting is going slowly, more on that later. April in the Garden from From My Carolina Home

On this holiday weekend, I thought it would be nice to spend Sunday in the garden.  As the days blend into each other, it is becoming a challenge to remember what day it is, LOL!!  Today, let’s pause and enjoy the beauty in the world around us, and rejoice in nature’s bounty of spring, counting our blessings and hopefully keeping healthy.  The first of the irises began blooming this week, pretty two tone purple, with the pink redbud blooming in the background.
