4 Quick Questions on Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

Recently I was reading some old blog posts and I saw one on four questions someone might ask you about your creative process....

1.  What are you working on?

2.  How is it different from other people's work

3.  Why do you create?

4.  What is your creative process?

So here are my answers:

1. Right now I'm in the beginning process of the Cherrywood Fabric Graffiti Challenge.  Since I was sick it stalled a bit but this week, I've been back at it.  I do have the pattern worked out taking inspiration from a graffiti eye ...

Rules for a Busy Quilter on Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

With March comes not just the end of our grey days but ... National Quilting Month!!  I always thought spring was a perfect time to renew ourselves into our favorite passion.  I mean, really, it takes a special kind of person to cut up perfectly good material and then take hours and hours to sew it all back together right?!

Rules For a Busy Quilter

  • When you're "In the Zone" the sewing room is off-limits to everyone else.  How many times has a family member or a phone call gotten you off track and it's impossible to get right ...

Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

Sorry hectic crazy week....but I did want to add quickly under Things I like...if you love fried rice (and I mean who doesn't like fried rice!!)  I highly suggest watching youtube videos by "Uncle Roger".  Not only did he lift the winter blues away for a bit, but he has me working on perfecting my own fried rice.  Nygel is an interesting creative guy too who has shared his creative journey in interviews!

Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

So sorry for the quote post!  I've been having some insomnia lately and it's left me feeling a bit empty!  I have a new appreciation for those who suffer from this chronically!

Please stay safe everyone and have a wonderful New Year.  Pray that I get some sleep (grin)

Off The Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

I thought if I was feeling the stress of the season that maybe you were too.  Even though over the years we have simplified advent, it seems to stress me out still.  It doesn't help that we have under 10 hrs of sunlight on this already cloudy grey Lake Erie coast.  It doesn't help that last-minute shoppers are getting me down at work.  What does help is that I'm blessed with family and friends who love me.

I will be hosting Off the Wall Friday these upcoming weekends for anybody who wants to post - even if it ...

Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

So sorry!  I meant to blog today but got carried away cleaning and unpacking my studio!  This whole working full time really cuts into the things that really matter.  I know you understand.  Thank you for all the great comments last week....there is  more to that story which will continue next week.

Quilting and Motivation on Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

You know I'm quite sure that most people don't realize how much time and effort goes into a quilt.  That goes double for a quilt that is an original design.  As I've gotten back into the swing of things, I've been thinking over what I want to do next.  I have a few projects started that really do need finishing but it's been hard to get myself back in there.

One of the reasons is  it literally looks like a hurricane went through from me pulling supplies to go to John C. Campbell's Folk ...

My Word for 2021: Committment! from Val's Quilting Studio

Today I completed my 100 day challenge!!!
I wrapped up the last One Hundred days of 2020 with a commitment to self.
To complete 100 days of something changes you.
For me, I gained a new confidence in myself.
I learned to prioritize my own commitment to self...with no excuses.
I remember when I first started I read: You have to have a Day One to have a Day One Hundred! Then pretty soon, I was on day ten, twenty...soon not wanting to miss a day, not wanting to break my '"trend". This in itself increased my sense ...

Meal Planning, Part 4 from Prairie Moon Quilts

I’m getting tired of cooking.

Running out of ideas . . .

Getting in a rut of the same ol’ same ol’ . . .

Does that happen to you?

I keep having to adjust what we’re doing. We’ve been eating a lot of Keto meals, and we’ve each lost some weight, which made My Cowboy’s heart doctor really happy. I’d like to keep going that direction, but My Cowboy has been having more serious kidney stone episodes of late, and we think being too strict with Keto may not be helping with that part.

So he’s added orange ...

Let it go......................... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm probably the most accommodating and flexible person I know. You may think I'm a bit rigid at times, with my lists and my baskets, but seriously - if something doesn't get done as I planned - I'm perfectly OK with that. Provided there isn't an urgent deadline. Then I do care!

But right now? Believe it or not, everything is UNDER CONTROL. How the heck did that happen? OH - I still have quilts to design (just one) and instructions to write (just one) and other quilts to make (a couple), and a few e-mails to take ...

TOO MUCH excitement from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Please forgive me but my brain is going a hundred miles a minute. I'm finding this self-isolation thing so stimulating. I know I'm probably the only one, but there's so much happening and so much to do and I've now got the time. I also have the time to dream up new things. This is BAD!!

I know that some people are struggling with the self-isolation thing and I know it's hard to be stuck in the house and can't go anywhere. I can only hope that has provided people with some time to ...

Finding a little Creativity on Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

Well I'm sorry to report that I got no sewing done this week....zero...zip...nada!!  Nope  NONE!!

The Covid-19 hit our offices hard and its been all hands on deck.  Working from home, it's easy enough to  pick up hours and help out.  One of my teammates said she felt like we weren't doing anything to help when there are people on the front lines literally risking their lives for others.

But that's really not how I look at it.  All of us are doing our part.  For me, every lady I help, every order ...

Finding a Little Discipline on Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

I was thinking this week how blessed I was to have my job.  It's like a rock that I can cling onto as the river of this virus rushes by.  Then that it got me thinking, what I liked about being a sales rep. Its definitely not the pay or the prestige, because it turns out that helping senior ladies catalog shop all day has neither of those qualities.  Its the fact that #1....everyday you know what to expect with out it being too boring and #2 ... I've developed the skills to make me good at it ...

What happened in the office? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW -- I'm almost speechless at what is happening in the world. Yesterday, it seemed that every minute there was a new development - a closure, a cancellation, reduced hours, services shut down. It was getting to the point that I was afraid to check e-mail. However, it's all for a good cause - we need to get a handle on flattening the curve and many companies have stepped up to the plate to make that happen. Individuals have done the same. My gym is closed! ACK!!!!  But walking outdoors is still an option and even though the weather is yucky ...

Back in business from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Well, this wasn't the most productive weekend for me. I didn't turn on the long arm or even turn on a sewing machine. How the heck did that happen??? I did feel a wee bit guilty, but I'm over it already.

I didn't even get in lots of walking, although I still managed to get about 5.5 miles each day. That's OK too. I did spend a lot of time outside especially yesterday where the girls and I retired to the backyard to read a book. Well, I read the book, Lexi ate Murphy ...

It's tidy up time from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I don't even know how to describe how I feel about Studio B at the moment. I'm in shock - I'm in love. I'm wishing this was the way it had always been. But for the most part - the place is TIDY and everything has a home. Now there are a few things scattered on the worktables Those are the things that I'm actively working on and should someone come to sew, it would take a few minutes to remove the baskets and boxes and put them neatly on the floor in the stash room. One ...
