HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!! from Quilting My Way

Today we honored 4 veterans at the Stillwaters Estates. Over by where Nancy and mom live. We had 4 Veterans - one was my old doctor. It was one of those presentations where we had to limit what we were doing. So, I had Hildi do the introductions. Then I had Smiley do his job. We were allowed to eat there as well. So, we had lunch with everyone. Then it was time to do the presentation.

This is my old Doctor - David Williams. He ended up with one of my quilts. I wanted him to have one.

We ended up ...

Blah, Day from Quilting My Way

I headed over to moms and dropped off stuff with my son first. Then I dropped off 2 quilts with mom. Once that was done, I waiting on Bob to show up. We then went through mom's Hawaiian patterns. He decided on the Bird of Paradise.  We talked about the color. Mom gave him a price and he didn't blink.

I stopped at the museum and picked up 3 quilts for the 4th. We will be giving out 4 quilts at the Gathering Place in Stillwaters. I also picked up the box with all the stuff in it ...

HOT Weather Day from Quilting My Way

This morning started out cool. Then it started getting hotter. We reached 90 degrees. UGH

Patrick went outside and worked.  Then he slept on the swing set that's on the deck.

I played games and did laundry. After awhile, I decided I better get my butt moving. So, I went and listened to my book. While I listened, I beaded.

I was able to get another 3 rows done. lol I was having fun. I just didn't get to it early enough to get moving on it. I will try and do more this week.

After supper I ...

Spent The Day With Mom - Looking For A Pattern from Quilting My Way

This morning I heard Patrick leave early for more blood tests. I got up and showered to find he was back already.

He headed to golf and I headed to moms. We planned to find a Hawaiian pattern for Bob who is our physical therapist. Mom thought it was out in the garage....NOPE. We ended up cleaning out 2 tubs of stuff. Fabric and other stuff. I brought home 2 rulers that she wasn't needing. I think one of them was mine anyway. We then went into the spare bedroom closet and there were photos of my 2nd ...

Decided To Finish A QOV Top from Quilting My Way

Today I was really not in the mood to do much. Till I MADE myself go downstairs and see what I could do. I figured IF I got moving with the quilt top, I'd get it finished today. So, I started........and AGAIN made a math error!! I was always good at math, but for some reason quilts are not where I'm good at math. I thought I had the top of the panel done. Yeah, nope! I ended up taking it out and trying again, this time rethinking it and using the calculator. Better chance of getting ...

Another Top - Rip, Rip, Rip from Quilting My Way

 Yep, the frog arrived today.

I went downstairs to work on my quilt top. I gave Debbie the stars for the one I had on the wall. So, I ended up starting all over.

The panel was a smaller one, so I needed bigger blocks. Thank goodness Georgie gave me some 16" squares. So, I added the red around the panel.

I measured. I cut. OOPS, wrong size. Found that out after sewing 2 of the white sides on. Ripped that out.  I measured and cut again. My math was off. DANG! I'm usually good at math! I sewed ...

Same Thing Both Days from Quilting My Way

I realized this morning I hadn't done my blog last night. Not sure why. It was a day at moms for quilting. I took the quilts that I have for stitching down bindings. I also had to get QOV "volunteer logs" entered into the computer to share with Ricardo. He's helping us determine how long it takes to make a quilt for each veteran. Since so many of us do the quilts, each person has a different time that it takes to do blocks, tops and more.

Came home and pretty much just enjoyed the rest of the ...

At Work Again from Quilting My Way

This morning I wanted to get downstairs to work on the quilt top I was getting done. Which I did. Now I have 2 tops to take to Connie. I cut the backing and washed them.

I was on a phone quiet a bit today. Things are moving with QOV that are a problem, so I had to talk to a couple people to see what the heck was going on. Then I let Chip at Veterans Memorial Museum know what was going down.

I worked on figuring out what to do with this panel. Patrick didn't like the ...

Another Top And Bowling from Quilting My Way

This morning I got started on laundry - but that didn't go far. lol

I then went downstairs to work on the next quilt top.

Started by putting some of the blocks together to see if that was what Patrick was talking about. He said that was it. Looked good. At this point, I wondered but kept going.

It looked better once it was done. - No not completely done. But this part does look good and the colors go together. This will be a good one for the 4th of July.

I wanted to get a photo of the basket ...

Back To My Quilt Top from Quilting My Way

If you haven't read the "Slow And Steady....." the other day, then you might like to read that first. This is a follow up from that.

I decided to get this quilt top done and get it to Connie. I wanted to get blocks out of the way that have been here for a good long time. They are blocks that are hard to work with. Or at least the 4 blocks are. I had a good idea.....

Till I messed up! I didn't measure the block AFTER I added the stars. I measured them BEFORE! So, good ...

My Usual Fridays from Quilting My Way

This morning I went downstairs to get labels prepped for the quilts. I cut 4 and had 2 ready. Then I sewed the dry sheet to them and took them with me. I was out the door by 8:40 am. THINKING the bank would be open - Yea right! Then I went to Rite Aid realizing (from working there years ago) that they don't have pharmacy open till 9 am. So my next stop was Post Office. I was able to take care of that and then headed BACK to Rite Aid. Only one of the meds was available ...

"Slow And Steady Wins The Race" from Quilting My Way

Many people wonder how I work on the QOV quilt tops. Where do the ideas come from? Why make that choice?

So, today I'm going to explain my process of working on a quilt for QOV. It is also a process I sometimes take on my own projects - even though I haven't done that in awhile.

When I decide (we all know how long that takes) to do a quilt top, the first thing I do is look to see what I have. QOV fabric is here and we have a lot of it. Why buy anything I ...

Getting Behind from Quilting My Way

This is yesterday's post. For some reason I completely forgot to do my blog. Go figure- I do it enough!

The day started out with just relaxing and playing games for a little bit. Then I decided to work on my beading while Patrick went outside to work in the yard. It turned out to be a beautiful day. I didn't have the door open to enjoy the cool air, but I did enjoy sitting at the table enjoying the view..

I was able to get 8 rows done before it was time to go out to eat ...

Needed Placemats! from Quilting My Way

Today I knew Val was coming over, so I went downstairs and looked at my stack of fat-quarters. I decided to make placemats to make up for the 2 we had to get rid of. They somehow got cut and had a big hole in them. So, I decided on greens. I have plenty and not doing much with my fabrics right now.

I had decided not to go to moms today. Really not ready to be in a crowd, let alone applique today. I do have more quilts that need the bindings stitched down, but that can wait.

I ...

What A Day! from Quilting My Way

This morning at 4 am, I had to fix my monitor. Then went back to sleep. When I woke, I noticed the heart monitor moved. So, I had to fix it again. Since my skin is getting better, I may change the monitor to the position I had when I first started.

Patrick left before I was up. He went golfing. I cleaned up a little. Then started loading the car with all the stuff I need to take tomorrow for QOV presentation. I'm still needing to add a few more things to the car. Right now, it's ...

Another Sunday - Sewing And Bowling from Quilting My Way

This morning I went down and cut the batting and backing for Debbie. Texted her to let her know she could pick it up. Then I got started on working on my panel quilt. I had the panel idea ahead of time and decided to put it together. I worked on it most of the morning while waiting on Debbie. Debbie finally arrived at a good time.

I had this much done by the time she arrived. I need to cut more white blocks to finish this up. I also need to cut a border strip that will be used ...

Still Working from Quilting My Way

This morning I was ready to work on another quilt top. I played a little before going downstairs. Needed to work on getting the room warm.

Took this apart the other day. Patrick thought of using some busy fabric as a panel.

This fabric piece is going to be hard to figure out something for the quilts. I'll get there.

But this won't work. I tried, but I just couldn't get over how busy it was. It was a good though.

So, I finally decided on this. The fabric between the blocks are stripped with small stars ...

Another Finish - 3 In 4 Days! from Quilting My Way

This morning I was up and enjoying an hour before heading off to moms. I arrived early since I needed to visit with my son.

There were 8 of us today. It was kinda nice, but there is one person I have a hard time having fun around. We didn't think she would come back, but she's been there every week. I'm almost to the point of not going any more.

I didn't take this quilt because I finished it last night. I felt great knowing I've been able to finish 3 projects in the ...

Trying To Finish Things from Quilting My Way

This morning I was up early. I was in a little bit of pain from the chest. It's seeping, so that was a little painful. I'm putting some cream on that is working. So, hopefully in a couple days I can put my bra back on. lol

I then went downstairs. I wanted to organize the QOV stuff.

I took stuff out of the cabinet and I moved a few of my stuff around.

I made piles of blue, red, and white. I had some yellow as well. I realized we could use more red. lol I had ...

Slowed Down Today from Quilting My Way

We were up at 6 am to head to Olympia. Both of us had blood tests to do. Patrick got his results already and I'm still waiting on one of mine. We stopped at Judy's on the way back for breakfast. Patrick dropped me off at home while he headed out to have coffee with some of his fellow co-workers. They are now all retired, so they take a day and have coffee and "gossip."

When he was done there, he stopped at moms and fixed her shower.

While he was gone, I got a phone call regarding ...
