What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

We are more than a week into the new year.  I'm mostly back into my normal groove. I'm doing well with focusing on my goals. But we are only a week in, a year is a long time to keep yourself in line.  In fact, there's a another quilt along that's been posted I really want to play along with that's not on my new project list for 2026.  I'm trying to resist, but I did look to see if I have fabric in my stash for it.  I do.  Oh well, I'll ...

We are a few days into the new year.  I've spent some time in the sewing room, but also a lot of time looking back and then looking ahead.  My tracking spreadsheet is reset. So I'm ready for a new year on that front. Not so much on other fronts.  Personal preference has me making a clean break between last year and this year.  Here are my final stitching time metrics for 2025. 

• 15 minute days/Dec 2025 =30/31 days
• 15 minute days/2025 = 320/365 days
• Success rate = 87.67%

It's been a pretty good week. The only wrinkle was a broken connector on the Outback that caused some scary lights to show up on the dashboard. Reading the manual, the potential issues were pretty scary and making a trip to Tulsa to the dealership didn't seem wise. Thankfully our normal in town mechanic recommended another shop that could handle electrical issues.  They got the parts and we are back in business. My apologies for being so late posting today.  It's not been the best week on a number of fronts.  It started with My Guy getting admitted to the hospital on Monday.  Thankfully, they found the source of the infection, treated him and he was out of the hospital by late Tuesday afternoon.  I've been trying to help Grad Girl with the apartment leasing process. She's been dealing with two major miscommunication errors the apartment management made that prevented her from finishing the leasing process, so she still doesn't have an apartment and she starts work in ...

We all expected an adjustment with Grad Girl moving home till she finds a job.  It's not so much having Grad Girl home, she's pretty self sufficient. But her cat, Queenie, has had a harder time adjusting.  I think she's finally getting over the stress of moving. But probably, it's that she's gotten us through the initial training of having a cat running the home.  

I finally got back to my quilt as you go project this weekend.

Normally we spend Easter with Grad Girl, but she's in the middle of exams and finishing up her thesis.  So for the first time in a long while, we won't be hanging out with any family this holiday weekend.  That may be just as well considering how much rain we've had this weekend. Not the best conditions for driving someplace.  Consequently it was another week on the stitching stuff front.

This post is a bit late today, holiday prep has been the first priority and with all that was going on yesterday, I didn't even remember to get a post ready.  I did get my 15 minutes in yesterday just before bed, but just barely.

My sister and I left Oklahoma for Texas on Thursday and got back home Monday night.  That left us Friday, Saturday and Sunday for lots of crafty stuff.  I found a great rental to use for our retreat.  

The dining room table was big enough for 3 sewing machines. Just mine and my sister's are set up in the photo.  We were able to use the center island for cutting and pressing.  It was a very user friendly set up.

Storms rolled through overnight.  There was some impressive, rattle the windows thunder along with them. The storm didn't keep us up all night, but it wasn't the most restful night of sleep I've had.  

I don't usually post twice in one day, but today is the last day to link up with the quilt parade for the 2024 Stay At Home Round Robin over at Quilting Gail's.  The last border strip was added late yesterday afternoon. Last year I didn't finish the 2023 SAHRR quilt top till June. I'm very happy to have a finished quilt top before the end of March this year.

Last year was my first time participating in the Stay At Home Round Robin (SAHRR) hosted by Quilting Gail. I really enjoyed playing along and ended up with a really fun quilt for the 2023 SAHRR. 

This quilt was intended to be My Guy's new TV recliner quilt.  However, Grad Girl decided that it needed to be hers.  She took the last quilt I made for My Guy, so it was time to come up with a quilt she'd like better so My Guy could keep this one.  She'd been asking for an orange and black quilt ...

We are two weeks into 2024.  January always seem to pass so much slower than December did.  Maybe it's the cold that slows us down? Most of the US has cold stuff in abundance this weekend. We don't have to be anywhere the next couple of days, so staying home and stitching is definitely our plan.  My stitching efforts for 2024 have gotten off to a good start.

My apologies for the really late post today.  We didn't get home till late last night and I slept in this morning.  Grad Girl is on her way back to Texas, so we're back to an empty house again.  My stitching week was an on again/off again thing. We did a lot of running around and it was hard to work in stitching time every day.

My apologies for posting so late this morning.  Grad Girl and I made a shopping trip to Houston yesterday, got back late, then stayed up even later just talking.  So I really slept in this morning.  

Considering I've been traveling and visiting, my stitching time this week hasn't worked out too badly.

Happy 2nd day of Christmas. That's the way My Guy greeted me this morning.  My family does our big celebration on Christmas Eve, that allows all of us married people the opportunity to spend Christmas day with the our in-law side of the family. There's a longer story to why it works that way, but we'll leave that for another time.  We don't do a big celebration with My Guy's family since his mother passed, so we just pretty much just vegged out on Christmas Day. I'm a little late posting this week.  Seasonal allergies have really taken a toll on my get up and go this week.  I went to bed early last night and slept late this morning.  Unfortunately I'll struggle on this front till we get our first freeze.  Just feeling crappy affected my stitching time this week.
