Good morning, my friends. We're hanging out here in Georgetown until after lunch. Our next stop in Whitney, Texas, is just about 120 miles down the road. Check-in there isn't until 3:00 p.m. We don't need to leave our spot in Georgetown until 2:00 p.m., and so it all works out. We can take our time this morning. We've had breakfast. I've played all my word games. Now I'm checking in with you guys, and then I can do some slow-stitching. It's going to be a low-key morning, despite ...
read moreGood morning, my friends. The day went differently than expected yesterday. We ended up doing more fun stuff than expected. Also, the visit to the Inner Space Cavern is back on for today, and so the whole itinerary has been set right.
As it turns out, we weren't able to obtain the part we needed for our ailing slide topper. We'll catch up with it down the road in a couple of days. I didn't explain this when I mentioned it yesterday. Honestly, sometimes I get tired of talking about these little inconveniences. But this is what ...

read moreGood morning, my friends. What an absolutely delightful day of driving we had yesterday. I only hoped to see the Texas Bluebonnets, and boy, oh boy. Did we ever see Bluebonnets. I have lots of pictures of every blooming thing to show you today, so let's get started.
We left Fort Stockton under the watchful snoopervision of this woofie in the RV parked across from us. He looks as if he means business.

Good morning, my friends. If you thought you were going to get a break from my incessant prattle this morning, then you will be disappointed. I woke up early enough that I have time to write. This park in Fort Stockton is not too far off the freeway. Somehow, it's less noisy than one might expect, and we've slept well while we're here. Kitties usually have us waking up pretty early in the morning. I believe even they have slept in these past mornings.
The kitties have liked it here. Sadie has figured out that if she ...

Happily, I believe we'll go through a section of Texas where we'll be able to see the Texas Bluebonnets. It's high up on my bucket list. They are so pretty, and I've wanted to see them for a long time. I found this image in the public domain. I'm hoping I can see something just like this.

Good morning, my friends. It was a short drive with plenty going on yesterday. We find ourselves in Fort Stockton, Texas, for three nights (two now).

Good morning, my friends. Be careful out there today. A prankster is lurking around every corner. Who would ever think the first full month of spring would be so full of danger?
As I mentioned in yesterday's post, we had a day off for Easter Sunday. The kitties got into the swing of it right away. They spent their morning in synchronized napping.

Good morning, my friends, and Happy Easter to all who celebrate.
I'll admit that Easter is kind of a non-event around here, except that Matthew has a birthday coming up on April 2nd. He'll hit the big 4-0 this year. Every year since his birth, I've checked to see if Easter would fall on his birthday. So far, it hasn't. And since Easter baskets are no longer a part of our lives, Easter gets short shrift. Nevertheless, I remember attending Easter sunrise services with my mom, especially when my dad was deployed to Vietnam. She often ...

Good morning, my friends! This morning we find ourselves in the state of New Mexico. And look at you! You got there without ever leaving your chair! There's a lot of magic in this world, isn't there?

Good morning, my friends. It's our last morning in Arizona today. We'll be moving along to New Mexico by this afternoon. First stop is Las Cruces, and weather permitting, we'll make a visit to White Sands National Park while we're there. For now, though, let's talk about yesterday's sight-seeing adventures.
As we drove into Willcox a few days ago, I saw the turn-off onto AZ-186 that would take us to Chiricahua National Monument. It was west of the KOA where we're staying. So, naturally, as we're leaving, I tell Mike to head ...
