Wild Country USA! from Humble Quilts

We have been in Wyoming staying on our property, trying to figure out a game plan for moving forward to build here.
I got the binding complete on the little flag quilt.
I thought I'd take the opportunity to have a little photo op before we leave!

For the desert at 6000' elevation we have a array of wildflowers.
And prickly pear cactus.

Most nights we have had amazing sunsets.

We went hiking on a day the weather was not going to be too hot.

Thanks for traveling along with me! Have a wonderful weekend!

Patriotic Tablescapes from From My Carolina Home

Memorial Day weekend is coming fast, and it is time to dig out the patriotic bin and decorate with red, white and blue. Today, I’d like to show you a range of ideas to set your holiday table for a cookout, or a nice dining room for a more elegant gathering of family and friends. Tables don’t have to be expensive, these sprays came from the dollar store, and the candles are my Mason Jar candles. I change out what is in the bottom to coordinate with the color scheme of the table.

Most of my patriotic tables ...

I've been keeping myself busy with some new design projects.  No stitching lately but that's okay.  I'll get back to it.

For now, I have some new releases to share.

As you can see, I'm definitely thinking "Summer" now!!  And I seem to be liking geometric mandala designs.

Did I ever tell you that you're welcome to send your ideas to me?  If there's anything you'd like to see, just leave me a comment.  I'm always open to new ideas!

Ask for my designs at your favorite needlework retail store or you ...

Oh Glory! Tablerunner from Jean's Quilting Page

I taught a class last week in my hometown on this cute patriotic themed tabletopper. Oh Glory! was the perfect pattern for them to learn some new techniques and have fun at the same time. Most of them got at least one block finished, one got 2 finished. I can't wait to see the finished toppers!

of guilds, gardens and guntersville . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

We had the most FABULOUS guild program this month! Several of our members have taken the steps to form a Quilts of Valor chapter here locally; Liberty Piecemakers of Huntsville, and we had a QOV program at the meeting, including a very touching QOV award presentation.

Barbara Black, of My Joyful Journey, wrote nicely about it HERE.  Her husband was one of the QOV recipients. Some of our photos may look the same . . . I sent what I had to her so she could enjoy the program itself!
Pre-meeting gabbing!

Generations - a New Series of Historical Paper Dolls from easypatchwork

After several years of being a quilt and quilt block designer, I have developed a passion to create mix and matchable figures especially females. This love and desire stems from a childhood hobby of drawing barbie dolls with different outfits. Did you also design clothing for your dolls?

New Paper Dolls Series

After taking a very long break from quilting, designing, and sewing, I sat down one day and just "doodled" - designing on the computer. I wanted to see if I could create a new figure with a historial flair. After several hours of diligent changes, Quilter Grace was created ...

American Panel Giveaway Winners! from Humble Quilts

If you need to raise your faith in Americans you must go read the comments right HERE! Thank you all so much! I cannot watch the news any more since I feel like there is so much negativity and divisiveness. I think that is what "they" (who the heck is they, anyway??) want. We are more unified than separate! And that is a wonderful thing! Thank you all for taking the time to leave a comment on my blog or at the Humble Quilts facebook group that you can find HERE.

The winner of the Old Glory panel is Quilting ...

4th of July traditions include a memorial race in town.  This photo is the cleaned up version! LOL

And let's remember why we celebrate.

America and its founders made mistakes and had issues, (haven't we all?) but they were independent, strong, hardy individuals that laid the foundation of the ...

Patriotic Quilts part 2 from Humble Quilts

Happy Friday!
Here's part 2 video on a few more of my Patriotic Quilts.

I hope you enjoy it!

Happy Independence Day!

An another note 5 years ago today we lost my mom. It happened to be one day after her birthday. Naturally I think of her birthday on July 1st and her death on July 2.
Even with Alzheimer's I tried to meet her where she was each day. (Took me awhile to figure that out!)

One of my favorite photos. Taking mom out for ice cream after her hair appointment.

Much love

William’s Honor: A Quilt Pattern Dedicated to Veterans from Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber

Some would say that a quilt achieves its highest purpose in life when it is gifted to another. When a quilt is created and awarded to a service member or veteran, it says, “Someone cares. Thank you for your service.” The Quilts of Valor Foundation has made it their mission to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor (QOV). We’ve created a FREE quilt pattern, William’s Honor, that you can use to make one of these patriotic quilts.

Our quilt is shown here in Branded by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics ...

Kickoff to Summer from Humble Quilts

I had a few hours at home yesterday and made the quilt transition to summer/patriotic.
I know you all see these every year, so feel free to skip. But for any new readers here's my
"I love America house"

This is my eclipse quilt but reminds me of fireworks too.
It was really bright when I was snapping photos so these aren't the best.

The guest room....waiting for a guest!

Another spare bed.

Floating Stars from Heart Desire Creations

Stars

My quilt guild makes patriotic quilts for returning vets. Much like Quilts of Valor, they are done in red, white and blue and many feature star blocks. With what fabric I had left of those colors, I made 15 floating star blocks that will be given to the guild member in charge of the patriotic quilts. At some point, at a workshop, these blocks will be incorporated into a quilt for a vet.

cut offs

When making these blocks, there are leftover cuts. After some playing, I put them together to make this cute mini.  I don’t have a red, white ...

Stars Quiltalong from Humble Quilts

Cecile and Bea are doing their yearly quiltalong. This year the theme is stars, so I jumped on the bandwagon for my firs time joining in on it.

Christy was working on her star blocks at our retreat and I was too.

Here's will be a lovely patriotic quilt!!

My blocks will finish at 4" and I'm trying to use the reproduction neons, although I"m faking it on a few blocks, cause I don't have enough neon.

The minimum blocks to make is 16. Mine are making a fun leader/ender project.

I got binding on ...

Life snippets from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

2019 was a roller-coaster ride.

I know it's been a minute or two since my last post. Life is always the reason. But let's talk about the year that was, shall we?

I realized yesterday that I do not like years that end in the number 9. I remember 2009 was a rough year. 2019 may have been even rougher, but I'm not certain. Time, for most of us, tends to erode the harshness of the edges to where they seem a bit softer than they did at the time we were going through it.

Work was ...

Veterans Day – Quilts of Honor from Gray Barn Designs

Good morning!  It’s Cindy reporting in from Ohio AND it’s Veterans Day!

Last Thursday, my quilt guild hosted a luncheon to honor 63 Veterans in our local area.  For the past year, my guild worked diligently to make 21 Quilts of Honor and we presented them to 21 grateful Veterans at this lovely luncheon ceremony.

It was very humbling to have FOUR World War II Veterans join us and this quilt sums up what many of us were thinking.  Home of FreeThe quilt below was presented to a Vietnam Veteran who was a Prisoner of War (POW) for over two ...
