Final Preparations from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We're on whatever counts as the opposite of the home stretch. Home stretch usually means the time before reaching the end. How does one turn that around and make it a stretch toward the beginning? Just now I checked in with The Google. The Google tells me I can substitute "opening chapter." Okay, so opening chapter it is. We're not quite to the first page, though. Think of this as the dedication.

We've had to reroute our trip already. As it turns out, it's going to snow like mad at the Siskiyou ...

A Welcome Day at Home from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. To read the title of this post, you might think that I'm running around town all the time...every day. In fact, I'm home most days. Sometimes a whole week passes, and I don't leave the house. It's how I like it. Formerly a very busy person, I'm happy to claim my hermitry. So going out twice in the same week...two days in a row, with no vacation in between...it was a sad thing. Staying home gave me plenty of time to sew. Wanna see what I did?

Back in Business from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and welcome to February! I know...February started yesterday, but I sent a frog to do my bidding. Thank you to those who stopped by to meet him. I'm happy to say that we're back in action from our carpet job. Everything is reassembled and put away, and it's almost as if the whole thing never happened. It's nice to have the new carpet down, and it's really nice to have rid ourselves of tons of crap we no longer needed nor wanted.

Having worked hard putting things in order the ...

Iced In...Again from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. For all the promise of yesterday morning, more cold air moved in yesterday, and freezing rain fell for hours. It's a crystalline world outside right now. We don't expect this to melt off any time soon, putting our carpet installation in jeopardy again. Just this morning we were considering calling to postpone a few more days. Fortunately, it doesn't seem they're overrun with business in January (ya' think?), and so it shouldn't be too long.

Here's what it looks like outside right now:

This next image shows an "ice fall ...

Snowy Landscape from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. So, we're sitting in bed reading last night when we hear the unmistakable sound of snow sliding off our metal roof. There was a chance of snow in the forecast, but the stars were going to have to align perfectly. We weren't really expecting anything. Looking outside...HOLY SMOKES! Look what can happen when you turn your back for just a second.

Well, of course I needed to see the measuring thingy we bought recently. So I looked outside with a flashlight shining through the window, but it was too dark to see clearly ...

Sunday Stash and Short List January 7, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

I have no fabric movement to report.

Time got away from me and I’m adding the Short List/OMG to this post. January is always a busy month at work. I scaled back the list because of that.

I started The Short List many years ago to create goals to work toward and a way to focus. I change things up as my goals and interests change.

Project 1 (stitching): Gather & Give Thanks, pattern by Diane Arthurs of Imaginating. I’ll either finish it this month or early next month.

Project 2 (Original): The nameless tree quilt. It would ...

New Year, New Project from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm trusting you've all slept off your New Year's celebrations. We celebrated by sleeping through the whole thing. Usually someone starts shooting off fireworks or (worse) firearms at midnight, but we didn't hear a thing. If there was shooting of anything, we slept right through it. I'll tell you two people who seem to have partied too hard...these two:

They kept me company while I read my email and played my word games yesterday. When Smitty got up, he was plagued by a blep.

You may not know what a ...

Fast Finish from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a busy day yesterday. I accomplished everything on my list except for the housekeeping chores. Housekeeping takes a back seat to the fun stuff. Maybe I'll get at it today. Maybe I won't. Last night, I was a tired pup. It seemed like a good idea to give myself a day off today. After sleeping it off, I'm ready to get back at it this morning.

As for yesterday's comings and goings, I went to work first thing to bake the Cranberry Ecstasy Bars. They aren't hard to make ...

Building Houses from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and a Dandy December to you. Let's send 2023 out with a bang, shall we? Next year will be the interminable campaign here in the United States, and I'm afraid it's about to get ugly. But let's not talk about that, okay? Let's talk about kitties.

Sadie was my helper cat in the sewing room yesterday. They like that I've given them their own quilt to use when we're sewing.

She was happy we weren't doing any papurr-piecing during our sewing day. Instead, I was making four houses ...

November 2023 OMG Finish from Quilt Paint Create

My November OMG was to finish the challenge quilt, which I named Love Inspired. This was my inspiration for the quilt, just a small portion of the quilt passed to me.

And here is my finished quilt.

I had a lot of fun tucking fabric motifs in the letter collage.

I think the santa is my favorite.

In The Doldrums from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a slow day at the Three Cats Ranch yesterday. Almost nothing was accomplished, although I redeemed myself late in the afternoon by finishing up the Joyful Journey block.

Finishing this block was my goal for

so I'll link up there when the party starts after Thanksgiving.

These are the nine blocks I have for this quilt so far.

When I left you yesterday, I was on my way to make breakfast. I needed to get going early for an eye exam. Downstairs, I found Sadie sound asleep, wrapped up in Mike's quilt ...
